The Sukhothai Bangkok is undeniably beautiful—peaceful grounds, elegant design, and a truly lovely Club Suite once we were finally settled. Unfortunately, inconsistent service and poor coordination between departments overshadowed what should have been a seamless luxury stay. After pleasant pre-arrival emails (including confirmed spa bookings), we arrived at 12:15pm on Feb 21 and queued in the main lobby—totally fine. But once we reached the desk and handed over passports, we were told we needed to check in at the Club Lounge across the driveway. There, we were asked for passports again, seated, and left waiting another 45 minutes with no real engagement. The “welcome drink” was Sprite with red syrup and cold towels—after a long travel day, we would have appreciated water. When we asked, only one bottle and one glass were brought for both of us. We’d booked 1:30pm facials (confirmed by the hotel via email on Feb 8) so we could go straight to the spa while waiting for our room. The lounge staff then questioned whether the booking even existed, took a screenshot of my confirmation, and returned saying the hotel had “no record.” At the spa, we were seated again and then essentially forgotten. When we asked for access to the restroom and facilities before treatment, the response was oddly dismissive. The facial itself was excellent—and afterwards, a different staff member escorted us to our suite and completed check-in smoothly, which is how the experience should have started. Other interactions felt similarly unwelcoming: at La Scala we were initially told we’d be seated outside in extreme heat despite the restaurant being nearly empty, and we had to insist on an indoor table. And on Feb 22, we arranged laundry pickup, followed instructions, left early the next morning for a tour—and our laundry was still hanging on the door untouched. This is a gorgeous property with real potential, but the staff seem undertrained or poorly managed, especially in communication between the club lounge, reception, spa, and restaurant. At this price point, guests shouldn’t have to re-prove confirmed reservations, chase basic follow-through, or feel like an inconvenience.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Sukhothai Spa. The entire space is beautifully designed, incredibly peaceful, and feels like a true escape from the city. From the moment we arrived, everything was calm, elegant, and perfectly organized. I came for a massage with my mother, and both of us were extremely impressed by the professionalism and care of the therapists. Sara and Por were exceptional. Their technique, pressure, and attention to detail were truly outstanding. They both took the time to understand our preferences and made sure we were comfortable throughout the entire session. It wasn’t just a massage it felt like a complete wellness experience. The therapists’ skills, combined with the serene atmosphere of the spa, made this one of the best spa visits we’ve ever had in Bangkok. Huge thanks to Sara and Por for such an amazing treatment. We will definitely be coming back and recommending Sukhothai Spa to our friends and family.

A Tranquil Bangkok Oasis That Keeps Getting Better We recently spent three nights in a Club Room at The Sukhothai Bangkok, returning for the first time since July 2019. From the moment we checked in at the Club Lounge, we were reminded why we loved it then – smooth, relaxed check in, a delicious welcome drink, and genuinely warm, attentive staff. Our Club Room was spacious, very well equipped, and beautifully quiet. The wooden shutters block out all morning light, the bed is extremely comfortable, and the bathroom is large with excellent amenities, refreshed daily. The Club Lounge is a real highlight. Each evening offered a different themed buffet (Italian, Indian, Chinese), all of which were excellent, with a strong selection of wines, cocktails, and mocktails. Breakfast is outstanding – the best we’ve had in Bangkok – with a huge variety of Western, Japanese, and Thai dishes, freshly blended juices, and eggs made to order. A special mention to Executive Chef Joachim Textor, who is both talented and wonderfully engaging. The grounds and pool area feel like a peaceful oasis in the city, with efficient poolside service and thoughtful touches like constantly replenished orange infused water. We also toured the Spa and Gym, both of which looked first class. We’ve previously stayed at the Mandarin Oriental, often rated the best in Thailand, but we now firmly prefer The Sukhothai. For its serene atmosphere, consistently high service levels, and outstanding food and beverage, it has become our favorite luxury hotel – not just in Bangkok, but worldwide.

The experience I had was beyond excellent! All the details and warm services are truly deserve a 2-star Michelin rating. The breakfast buffet was a true feast. I will definitely stay here again! Thank you all for providing me such an unforgettable memory. ❤️

Thank you Sukhothai for making my stay truly wonderful and very comfortable! I recently stayed here for a trip in December 2025 around a wedding I was attending and had a fantastic stay. I will be staying again next time I am in Bangkok! Thank you so much! The room was super peaceful, quiet and very comfortable. I am a light sleeper so having thicker walls was very important. My room overlooked the garden which was a lovely view. The hotel breakfast is phenomenal with many options and has an incredible variety of food from western to Asian. This hotel went above and beyond during my stay. I was in town for a wedding and they helped arrange transport to the venue as well as other aspects. I had some issues using the safe in the room from user error, not operational!! and they were very sweet and patient with me in helping me reset it. Location wise, the only slight thing is it is near a metro station not BTS, but it easily connects. The traffic on the nearby road can be bad, but it's Bangkok. The walk to the metro station is about 8 minutes or could bike taxi to speed it up which were easy to get. Getting regular taxis from the hotel was a little trickier using the apps (Grab/Bolt). However, if you know your plans they happily arrange taxi's for you at a rate similar if not better than the apps. I did this as I needed to be at the wedding venue on time on Friday (one of the worst traffic days). Separate review here specifically for the chocolate buffet: It was an amazing buffet with more food than anyone could eat. They had a whole savory section with turkey, savory bites and fresh sashimi cut right there by a sushi chef. The other side was all sweets including pastries, macarons, some truffles, etc. They also made it super festive, with Christmas decor and themed desserts. The food was fantastic. My only thing was I was expecting it to be more of a chocolate tasting buffet so was disappointed to find the only chocolate component was mixing chocolates into a hot chocolate or cold mouse. However, I will admit that I did not read so this was probably noted and my error of expectation.
