The Kumbuh Restaurant

The restaurant is named after the banjar next to the resort. It is located on the second floor right above the lobby with 40 seats from where the sunset view is second to none. The menu combination of wonderful Balinese specialties and western cuisine is ready to tantalize your appetite.

The Pool Bar

An excellent outlet serving the pool with all-time classics plus options for lighter items, fresh products, salad and sandwiches. Juiceology, detox selection and mixology for the healthy conscious are offered, accompanied by dedicated pool service.

Dirty, unorganised, dated, mouldy, expensive. Do not recommend. YOU have been warned. Overall most of the staff were lovely and helpful which is why this review has been given 2/5 But…. Where shall I start? I know! What a poorly run establishment. Images on the internet are falsely advertised Please see timeline below 22/11/25 Had a 9.5 hour flight so we were abit restless 22/11/25 - Early check in email sent at 05:50AM Got to the hotel at 10am Early check in denied sat around waiting for about 2-3 hours The hotel offered us 2 drinks and refreshment towels on arrival. The area was covered with flies and insects. Thus I had to have a insect filled mango juice. We felt as though we were in the way as we were sitting in the lobby the staff tried to usher us in to the business suite which was dirty and full of flies. Spoke to the manager to complain and she said they are trying to make it special for us. We said we don’t want special we have just come off a 9 hour flight and 1.5 hour car journey and have been waiting for over 2 hours to check in. Within 5 minutes of complaining our room was ready 🤔 Ok cool this is relatively minor. Sometimes staff are unprepared and unresponsive. Moving on; We checked in around 2.50pm and spotted these issues; Issues with the room - [ ] Bathroom drainage blocked (sorted on the Monday 24/11/25 by house keeping) - [ ] Extractor fan not working causing the bathroom to be hotter than the external atmospheric temperature( issue raised Saturday by calling 0) (issue raised Sunday too reception explained that no parts available on a Sunday) (issue raised Tuesday 25/11/25 no improvements) see exhibit A - [ ] Mould on the curtains, can be solved by using an extractor fan (see photos) - [ ] Insects around balcony slowly getting in to room and bathroom. House keeping were reliable between the hours of 6am - 11pm Exhibit A - Staff Offered a free upgrade on Tuesday (25/11/25)to deluxe villa room with a private pool (same issue with extractor fan not working in that room) if anything the room is worse because our main room had a door to block any humidity and moisture seeping in to the bedroom. The glass door for the outside shower was not sealed so swarms of insects could easily get in Here is some advice for the hotel management as to why you need circulation. Issues with mold; * Allergic reactions: Sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, red or itchy eyes, and skin rash. * Respiratory irritation: Coughing, wheezing, sore throat, and difficulty breathing. * Headaches: Exposure can sometimes lead to headaches. 28/11/25 9am - roof started leaking during rain, floor was soaked. Called reception and they sent someone over to have a look but luckily it stopped raining. We went out and when we got back we spoke to reception and they said they sorted it. We did not have any leaking issues after as it did not rain heavily so could not confirm. 29/11/25 9am - Went for breakfast asked for the Indonesian breakfast and ensured that it had to be vegetarian. The staff brought out the food and low and behold it had chicken in it 🤣 (honestly you can’t make this stuff up) 30/11/25 - Checked out early morning and the night shift had 2 lovely staff members who helped us with our suitcases. Thank you to Surya and Ngurah. It’s probably worth mentioning there was a lot of noise, however we were not too bothered as heck it’s a holiday! Advice for management. The staff are faultless they are the people who are running your hotel for you. They are very kind and lovely. There was never any disrespect. You have a really nice location but you need to freshen up your outdoor and indoor areas especially the rooms and please please please repair the extractor fans and seal the gaps properly to stop rodents getting in. Hygiene standards need to be raised - I can suggest sending staff on a Level 1 basic hygiene course. You can find these online. Management please get involved don’t just sit in the back. We stayed in non deluxe Room 815 for 3 nights and their deluxe private pool room for 1 night. We liked room 815 more. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had my birthday during the stay and they surprised me with a song and cake at the free breakfast which was excellent. Things which can be improved are more options on the breakfast menu. Better stocking of amenities for the bathroom. The massage was overpriced so better to get one outside. Overall very good and recommended.

What a magical place. Our family of 5 stayed for 3 nights. The staff were so kind and made us feel like royalty. The grounds are kept immaculate. We felt such a sense of calm and a deep appreciation for the culture. Thank you to all of the staff who made us feel so welcome.

Wonderful stay at this very exclusive resort. We loved the kindness of the staff, the beauty of the lush tropical garden with the sounds of birds, the very comfortable rooms with view on the palm trees and last but not least the delicious dishes prepared at the restaurant. Would love to visit again.

We stayed at Sankara Resort & Spa from 25th to 27th October 2025, and our experience was very disappointing. During our stay, someone repeatedly knocked on our room doors, and whenever we opened the door, no one was there. This happened several times in both our room and the separate room we had booked for our kids. The children were frightened and refused to stay alone after that. I reported this issue to the reception and requested to check the CCTV footage. The staff showed some recordings, but they could not provide footage for the exact times when these incidents occurred. Additionally, the air curtain in the washroom was not properly closing, allowing visibility from outside. I complained twice, but the staff said they could not fix it. Overall, my experience with this resort was completely negative, and I do not recommend it to anyone. The management should take guest safety and privacy more seriously
