My Honest Review of The Sands Hotel, Barbados First off, I’ll preface this by saying The Sands was not our original hotel of choice, we had a lot of issues with our travel agency prior to arrival. Once we realized we had no choice in the matter anymore, we were promised upgrades which we never got. Do not use air canada vacations ever! That said, here’s our true experience once we got here: Location & Atmosphere The hotel is centrally located, making it easy to get to St. Lawrence Cap, where you’ll find plenty of nightlife. On-site, they offer nightly entertainment which adds a nice touch. The pool is clean, the facilities are well maintained, and while the rooms are a bit dated, they’re still comfortable enough and clean! Food & Dining There is only one main restaurant on the resort, which alternates between buffet and à la carte service. To our surprise, the food was actually very good for an all-inclusive, we really have no complaints about the buffet. The resort also has a “fine dining” restaurant called Noir, but guests are only allowed one visit per week. Honestly, the food there was underwhelming. If the buffet had been average, we might have appreciated Noir more, but because the buffet was already so good, Noir felt like the same dishes simply plated differently. Service This is where we found the main drawback: service is slow. They do offer beach and poolside drink service, but it’s inconsistent, you can sometimes wait up to an hour before seeing a server, which often means you have to serve yourself. That being said, the staff themselves were always friendly, and several really stood out during our stay. Special thanks to Coefei (manager), Junior (supervisor), Adgio and Mario (bartenders), Amari, Davida, and Onisha (servers), Michael ( animator ) and Natasha and Aneisha (hostesses). Each of them went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and their professionalism and kindness made a big difference in our experience. Overall The Sands is clean, well-located, has better-than-expected food, and a team of staff who truly care. The main issue is the slow service, but otherwise, it’s been a positive stay.

I had a great time at the sands celebrating an anniversary with my partner. We didn't stay too long, but the hotel and beach view were amazing. If you're looking for a relaxed vacation stay, I absolutely recommend this resort. It was our first resort stay and we'd definitely come back!

Resort was beautiful, staff was friendly. Food was awful. Their idea of jerk chicke is boiled chicken with the seasoning on top after its boiled. You are expected to make reservations for breakfast and lunch and dinner. Snack bar only available around noon time. Only 1 bar on property and it closed between 11 and 12 pm.

Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Hotelmrooms are spacious and clean and reception staff will go out there way to help you with tour guides taxis and where to have a night away from.hotel. Evening entertainment was good but needs a disco night to get people up. Food was good and waiting staff are at hand at all.times miss it already.

The property needs some major upgrades. I feel like the online presence was extremely misleading! There is no air conditioning throughout the hotel rooms, only in the sleeping area which makes the room hot and muggy! They only provide tap water in the rooms and no other beverages which is ridiculous! The food is decent but the “special” restaurant is only offered 1x during your stay and kids are not allowed so I was unable to experience it. We had to make reservations at breakfast for lunch and dinner. Well I never went to breakfast and one of the ladies who worked the entrance of the ONLY restaurant acted like she had an attitude that we decided to have dinner! The guy at the bar, Antonio I believe, was great and the guy on the grill was amazing! I would not recommend this place to anyone and definitely won’t be staying here again if I visit Barbados again!
