Renovations

Renovations

The following pool renovations have been confirmed this year:

  • Del Mar (Infinity) Pool: From May 5th to May 31st. During these dates, the Club Experience service for The Retreat guests will be available at El Mirador
  • Cascade Pool: From June 8th to July 31st. During these dates, the Lagoon Pool and Persian Garden pool will remain available for Citadel guests

The Lagoon, Persian Garden, Palmera, Iraya and Tacande pools will not be affected by these pool renovations.

Not the best of Ritz Carlton properties if you are travelling solo or as a couple, or looking for a luxury experience. The resort is huge and felt more like a mid-range Turkish all inclusive hotel rather than a Ritz-Carlton. We visited this property over Easter break and that could have potentially impacted our experience as well. The hotel is also quite dated and could do with a refurb, the rooms however are big but that’s all in terms of positives. The food was nice and all the restaurants on the property were of a very high quality, apart from the breakfast experience that was chaotic and at times very messy. There is one sad adults only pool that it is enclosed in the courtyard and does not feel like a 5* experience. The beach was nice and sandy, however due to the sheer amount of people from the resort it was hard to find a spot with a parasol. All in all the price you are going to pay for a substandard quality product is not worth it.

I was here for the Easter break, we had taken a total of three rooms for five days. The resort is very nice, with interesting architecture and very spacious. The rooms are very large, with balconies. We had a pool view. The hotel has several pools, which were always full because of the vacation. There is also a beach to which you can go by train, where there are umbrellas and sunbeds. The beach also has a section for locals and it was sometimes overcrowded. The breakfast was nice and rich, but it was also a big madhouse because of the thousands of small children. There are also several restaurants, all of which are good, but quite expensive and require a reservation. The hotel is quite remote on the oceanfront and it's nice to have a rental car. The weather in mid-April was nice for a beach, but the ocean water was a bit cold.

Great location. Great service. But there was an Indian wedding on the day we were staying at the hotel. There was only one available restaurant and we had to have dinner at a very inconvenient time. I love the island and everything about Tenerife the people and everything. But my stay was seriously disturbed by this dumb wedding. They made us leave the pool at 3PM and dislocated us to a different pool. Also they didn’t accommodate us in any shape or form as I am used to with Ritz Carlton. They should have informed us about this and we would have left a day early from the island I swear!

An absolutely stunning hotel/resort...a feast for the eyes. Our room was large with an ocean view. We paid extra to have an additional bed since I was there with my 2 daughters. The breakfast was varied & delicious. The service/attitude of everyone we encountered was friendly & professional. The only issue I had was that there was no vent in our bathroom...thus, the walls & mirrors were steamy & sweaty after every shower & the toilet area did not air out well, again because there is no vent, & therefore a lack of circulation. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable.

We were really looking forward to our stay at the Abama Ritz-Carlton, but unfortunately, it fell far below expectations. Having stayed at several Ritz-Carlton hotels around the world, we expected the same high standard of service – but this experience was nowhere near it. The service throughout the hotel was inconsistent and lacking attention to detail. Staff seemed overwhelmed or uninterested, which is not what you’d expect from a luxury brand like this. The biggest disappointment was the Club Lounge. It’s completely self-service, with very limited options and no personalized attention. It felt more like a basic airport lounge than a premium experience. For the price, it’s just not worth it. The hotel grounds are beautiful, but the service seriously needs improvement. We won’t be returning.
