All the staff are very friendly and happy to help. The bikes they give you to rides round the property elevates the experience and gives a happy feeling to getting around the property with all the greenery and flowers. The private pools for each villa really make it a worthwhile experience even with the massive infinity pool overlooking the ocean.

We booked the Luxury Villa Garden view with a private pool for 3 nights and we really enjoyed our stay. PROS: - Service was awesome. Room was getting cleaned twice a day, our mini fridge wasn’t working well so they brought a new one right away…we requested a screen for privacy around the pool area and they put it for us at no additional cost. Waiters and waitresses were extremely helpful and tended to all our needs (Farida and Clement were excellent). - ⁠The villa was huge and the bathroom also with a big shower and excellent water pressure and nice hot water. There’s a beautiful outdoor shower right outside the main shower area which was great. - ⁠Very clean villa, clean pools and beautiful eco-friendly resort. CONS: - the food: we weren’t very impressed with the food quality and taste. There was a variety of food at the buffet but food seemed very bland. We have been to other 5* resorts in Zanzibar and comparatively, the food was like a 4/10 for The residence. All in all, we would come back only because of the private pool and villa.

We spent our beach holiday at this hotel in Zanzibar and were absolutely delighted. The staff were incredibly friendly and always helpful. Our room was spacious, very clean, and offered every comfort we could have asked for. The food was excellent, with a generous variety every day. The entire hotel complex is beautifully designed and perfect for relaxing. We especially appreciated that the team was very attentive to our needs, for example by offering us a complimentary late check-out without any hassle. We can highly recommend this hotel and would love to come back!

What I liked very much The buffet with a good selection The staff were always friendly and in a good mood The atmosphere in the villa and by the pool The activities/programs (Zumba, spa, dolphin swimming) The lovingly maintained outdoor area with a self-sufficiency garden The monkeys (they didn’t bother us since our villa was farther away from their habitat) What could have been improved Better preparation for themed culinary evenings (e.g. there was no tzatziki on “Greek Night” because the yogurt had apparently run out, and the “gyros” were more like small meat patties) No Wi-Fi connection: there was hardly any Wi-Fi throughout the villa; you had to stay either in the lobby or in the dining area to get a good signal – this was very frustrating Music: in the evenings we were often blasted with loud party music, and during “Greek Night” there was rather unpleasant modern Christmas party music (after Christmas); on the other hand, we really liked the live music with the band – sometimes in the morning, more often in the evening A mobile clothes drying rack for drying wet clothes would have been very practical It’s a pity that the otherwise nicely arranged shop does not carry any genuine postcards of Zanzibar. Important note: Unfortunately, the airport pick-up and the transfer back to the airport did not work well, as the hotel had either recorded the times incorrectly or forgotten us as guests. The transfer to the airport in particular became very stressful, as I departed 1.5 hours later than scheduled. Please make sure to take this seriously and carefully check that the times have been noted correctly.

Really amazing hotel. Beautiful villas. Staff is outstanding. Friendly and very service minded. Huge pool available for swimming and the pool at your villa is also surprisingly large. "Only" 4 stars in location as the beach is not great.
