My wife and I stayed at The Residence Maldives Falhumaafushi for nine nights on our honeymoon, and it was truly the perfect experience from start to finish. The resort felt romantic, relaxing, and luxurious, and even though we got an affordable price, everything far exceeded our expectations. Nothing felt cheap or lacking, and we felt completely taken care of the entire time. We stayed in a water villa, which was absolutely stunning — private, peaceful, and beautifully maintained with direct access to the lagoon and breathtaking views every morning. We chose the half-board plan with breakfast and dinner included, which ended up being ideal for us since the meals were generous and delicious enough that we never needed lunch. The breakfast buffet was always great, and for dinner we especially loved Long Island/Li Bai, which offered both Western and Asian menus and quickly became our favorite dining spot. During our stay, we did two massages at the spa, went snorkeling, and took a dolphin cruise — the dolphin cruise was easily our favorite, with champagne, plenty of dolphin activity, and hilarious, engaging guides who made the whole thing unforgettable. While nothing extra was done for our honeymoon specifically, the kindness and attentiveness of the staff made us feel special every single day. They were incredible — remembering our names and villa number after just a couple of days, always greeting us with a smile, and going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The only challenge was the long travel time from the U.S., which involved two major flights, a short domestic hop, and a boat transfer, so I’d recommend anyone traveling from the States try to break it up with a stop in Europe or Dubai if possible. Also, be mindful of luggage weight limits, especially if you’re flying Etihad — they weigh both checked and carry-on bags, though our smaller handheld items weren’t weighed. Overall, this resort was the perfect mix of fun and tranquility, with just enough to do without ever feeling busy or rushed. We’d recommend Falhumaafushi over Dhigurah for its quieter, more intimate atmosphere, though you can still visit Dhigurah anytime since the two islands are connected. If you’re coming here, stay as long as you can to make the travel time worth it, definitely book the dolphin cruise, and be ready to completely relax and disconnect — The Residence Maldives Falhumaafushi made our honeymoon everything we dreamed of and more, and we’d go back in a heartbeat.

Only if I had the option of 10 stars, I wouldn't be shy about giving it that rating for this fantastic property. It was worth 100 times to travel 19+ hours to this paradise. And then to be treated like a VVIP by everyone. The service and staff we dealt with were beyond exceptional; the rooms were out of this world, and the location, as mentioned, was Paradise. Our 5 nights of our 25th anniversary were unforgettable.🙏🏼

Getting There: The Real Test • Warning: Super remote from Malé – domestic flights are a gamble (ours? 5-hour layover). Cheaper rates mean paying in time & stress. Location & Setup • Wow Factor: Jaw-dropping turquoise waters everywhere – Maldives postcard perfection. • Downsides: Meh for diving/snorkeling (other atolls crush it). Beach is tiny & restricted. Hotel’s overdue for a glow-up – rooms feel dated & tired. Food & Dining • Heads-Up: Book everything 48 hours out – spots fill up FAST, limited spots for +500 guests. • Reality Check: Main dining’s busy & basic; food’s decent but nowhere near 5-star. Service • Bright Side: Staff are mostly sweet, eager beavers – they go all-out to make it special. • Rough Edges: 260+ rooms stretch ’em thin (e.g., skipped cleaning one day, dinners dragged on forever, checkout was a grumpy rush). Big-scale ops = inconsistent polish. • Mid-Oct Hit: Mostly sunny paradise… but brutal winds rattled rooms (constant whooshing noise) - pack earplugs! Bottom Line: Epic for lazy lagoon lounging if you roll with the chaos. Not for dive junkies or perfectionists.

We stayed at The Residence Maldives for 5 nights in two overwater villas, and it was truly a dream vacation. From the moment we landed in Malé, the hotel staff made everything seamless—greeting us warmly, assisting with our luggage, and guiding us through the domestic flight and short speedboat ride to the resort. The villas were spacious, spotless, and offered breathtaking views. We loved biking across the bridge at sunset and soaking in the beauty of the island. There were several restaurant options, but we especially enjoyed the custom spicy Maldivian breakfast at Dhigurah, thanks to Dinesh. The dining room manager, Hafiz, stood out for his professionalism and genuine hospitality—he and his team went above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome. Our teens took the Open Water Diving course offered by the resort, and both the instructor and boat crew were outstanding—professional, patient, and very helpful with all the gear. What made our stay truly memorable was the warmth and kindness of the staff across the resort—the lobby team, buggy drivers, restaurant staff, and even the on-call doctor. Every interaction was met with a smile and a genuine effort to make our experience perfect. Highly recommend!

Every little thing exceeded our expectations at The Residence Fallumafushi! From staff at the airport for pick up till drop off, service was beyond excellent. At the resort, villas were really spacious and comfortable. Food at all restaurants on both islands was top quality. We had an absolutely memorable stay! A huge thanks to all the staff!
