Our experience at Moon Palace Grand Cancun was beyond frustrating and nowhere close to the “luxury” standard they promote. Service was painfully slow and disorganised. We waited two hours for basic towels. Two hours — for towels. That is not five-star service, that is unacceptable anywhere. On another occasion, we waited 45 minutes for shampoo, and when it finally arrived, it wasn’t even the correct item. We had to chase again. This wasn’t a one-off mistake. It became a pattern of long delays, incorrect deliveries, and zero sense of urgency. Every simple request turned into a process. Communication made everything worse. Many staff members could not speak or understand basic English, which made even the simplest requests unnecessarily complicated. We would explain clearly what we needed, only to receive the wrong items or no follow-up at all. For an international resort that welcomes guests from all over the world, this is simply not acceptable. There was no accountability. No apologies. No effort to recover the experience. You’re left feeling like you’re inconveniencing them for asking for necessities that should already be in the room. The property itself may look impressive, but service is what defines a luxury stay — and this resort fails badly in that department. For the price paid, this level of inefficiency and lack of professionalism is shocking. We would absolutely not recommend this resort and will not be returning.

when We checked in it was a very long process. Most importantly we Requested a crib for our 2 year old. Contacted many people in resort with no crib arriving. Impossible to have someone call you or respond. Finally got a crib at 10 pm. In addition, Counter tops are dirty. Hairs and smudge marks all over counter top. We were offered a 100 dollar credit and a free 80 minute massage by public relations. I told the public relations person my wife had a massage booked. She looked up time and said it would be “credited within 1 hr”. Then they reversed this and said we could only book a new one. Takes 10 emails and phone calls to deal with it. So eventually I just dropped it. They did credit a 100 dollars which is more like an insult than actual compensation considering how much this place costs. Things were getting better. Pools were great so far. Lots of activities for kids. Food is moderate. Room is spacious. However now after the debacle with the crib and them taking back their word on the massage now there are cockroach in our room and in the buffet. Counters are not cleaned. Pictures and video below. Impossible to get towels at certain pools. The people overall are very nice and courteous but it is that “fake courtesy”. This is in no way a luxury resort. Would not ever stay at this companies properties again. Will try to enjoy rest of vacation.

Stayed at Moon Palace Grand Cancun with my wife and kids Feb 11th thru the 16th. We had an awesome time, service was top notch, tons of stuff to do for the kids right in the resort and everyplace had a tended bar ready to accommodate any adult request as well. We had a great time until it was time to check out. We checked out had our bags out front waiting for the shuttle to take us to the airport. A gentleman walked up to us to pitch us an opportunity to return, he said if I purchased a certificate for 299 my same visit would be 60% off. I asked him, so my room was 1100 a night, if I buy this it would be he stopped me and said yes 555 a night next time. I said sold, I bought it on the spot there as the shuttle was waiting for us to leave, so I was rushed, no problem we had a great time, wanted to return and had no reason do doubt the sales pitch. We got home that night and the next day I went to book for the same dates next year and it was not what he said, they had up the room price to 2200 a night and were offering 60% off that which brought me back close to what I had already paid. I felt disheartened and taken advantage of as I was targeted knowing I was leaving, in a hurry but the smiles on my kids faces couldn't have been a bigger indicator. When I called to kindly ask for a refund for the cert, saying that I will return but I was not satisfied with the cert and told the story all they could say was "sorry this was non refundable" wouldn't allow a transfer to a manager just an email that may take my inquiry under advisement. It was very sad it had to end that way, because the service coupled with the attraction experience was enough to make me return, but the fact that I got swindled at the end makes me question the integrity of the business culture and will, by sheer dignity, will steer me away from returning.

Moon Palace was really great. Went there second week of February. Best part is they have Catholic Mass on site 9 AM on Sunday over at the Nizucc. 10min walk or shuttle ride. No vacation from Jesus. Go to Church! Food was fantastic and the service. We tried all of the main restaurants at the grand.

Dad+3 stayed 6 nights in a Family Suite, a connecting King room and two double bed room. Both sides were massive and each had a large indoor whirlpool tub near the balcony door. Bathrooms were very nice, except that on 3 occasions, there was no hot water, and on one of those, there was no more than a drip of pressure. The food on the resort was great in the buffets, but left something to be desired in the restaurants. Particularly the JC Steakhouse. We spent over 2 hours in the restaurant and had only mediocre food and servers who continually brought the wrong dishes to our table. Tavola, the Italian restaurant has good pizzas, but little else on the menu was remarkable. Caribeño, the seafood restaurant, had only 12 main course options to choose from. The dish I chose there, braised short rib, was a single rib, and about 2 tablespoons of rice on a plate. The meat was ok, but the time it took in only a half-full restaurant (30 plus minutes for mains) was excessive. We attended an evening show every night, and these should not be missed. Most start around 9, so even with the excessive dinner service, we made it to all of them on time. The magic and comedy show was our favorite. The Mexico show is also very entertaining and interactive. The Water Park at this resort is where they set themselves apart. Best service on the property, as-many-as-you-like towels, plenty of seating (shade and sun) and food options within the park. There is a lazy river, two two-peraom raft slides, four "racing" slides, and a large water playground with smaller slides for little ones. Also, a two wave Wave Rider on site is free to use (but the lines pile up to 45 mins plus mid day. Go early!) Overall, I would recommend this place if you've never been. It is something to behold, even by all-inclusive standards. If you stay at The Grand, you have access to the adjacent Sunrise and Nizuc properties and amenities as well. We may stay someplace else or try another Palace property next time. Maybe Jamaica?
