We had an incredible stay at The Fives Oceanfront Riviera Maya! The resort is beautiful, and it’s clear that the staff truly cares about making every guest feel welcome and valued. A huge thank you to Gustavo from the wellness program—he was so kind, positive, and patient, and the activities he led were an absolute blast. Angel and Rodrigo were the best bartenders we’ve ever met on vacation—quick, efficient, and so fun to talk to. We genuinely looked forward to seeing them every day, and their service was outstanding. Miguel, Fernando, and Javier at Romarley Rooftop were a joy to visit—they were always kind, attentive, and friendly, going above and beyond to provide exceptional service. At Romarley Beach House, Leonardo, Fernando, Christian, Esteban, Eudwardo, and Ian were equally amazing—so attentive to our needs and making us feel truly cared for. At El Mare, Cristobal and Giovanni provided excellent service, and Francisco was very flexible and accommodating to our needs. Alfredo at the spa was wonderful, giving us a demo massage for our neck and back—we’ll definitely be booking with him again next time! All of the reception staff, including Cynthia, Lilia, Alex, and Luigi, were outstanding and made check-in and our stay seamless. It’s very clear that The Fives has an amazing team who genuinely care about their guests. We’re sure we’re missing some names because there were so many staff members who left a lasting impression on us. Thank you for making our stay unforgettable—we can’t wait to come back!

Mario is such a breath of fresh air. Wonderful concierge Felix is the best bartender in Mexico. His Key Lime martini is the best I've ever had and his French 75 martini is a close second to the Key Lime and his margaritas topped with Grand Manrier is top tier. He is so friendly, too. We come back year after year just to see Yoe. Her smile and excited greetings every morning is the perfect way to start every day. Abraham, Eli, Stephanie, and Elvis are such wonderful additions to the staff. We felt safe and well cared for every day. We were happy to see the chair policy updates, if the lounge chair is unoccupied for 30 minutes, a staff come and safe keep the belongings hut make the lounge chair available for beach goers. We will be back next year! Thank you for another amazing stay!

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here! It’s a nice mid-sized hotel right on the beach. We got a suite and the room was very spacious. We liked that it had a big refrigerator to store left overs and drinks. Our bed was very comfortable! Our kids slept on the pull out sofa in the other room. The mattress was particularly uncomfortable, which isn’t so surprising since all sofa beds are sort of like that. Also, they are kids and I remember plenty of sleepovers on the floor growing up, so they aren’t picky, but wanted to call it out because even they thought it wasn’t comfy. I added a blanket as a layer between them and the springs and it was fine. We enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel! I wish I could remember the name of the woman that checked us in, but I really liked her (she had glasses and maybe some tattoos?). Anyway, she was great and a friendly face that would check in on us and asked us about our trip. Shout out to her! The only reason that I took a star off is due to the beds on the beach. My family and I went to the beach around 9:30/10:00. It wasn’t crowded at all and there was a whole row of about 6 chairs that were empty. Most had towels on them, but no one was around, so I figured they must have been from the day before and we sat down. My family went in the water and I sat and read my book for about 20 minutes. I then got up to check on my family and take some photos. When I got back to the chair where I had been sitting, and where all of our stuff was, I was confronted by another guest who said that I was sitting in his chair. He said he had put towels down at 7:00am on 4 chairs and I needed to move my stuff because they were his. I had been there at this point for at least a half hour and hadn’t seen him at all. I was confused, but then another guest told me he had a similar interact with a different guest the day before. Apparently people put down a towel at 7:00am and then it’s theirs for the whole day whether they are using it or not. This is frustrating/confusing for guests that don’t do this because there is no where to sit on the beach then if you show up any time after 8:00am as they all have towels on them. It would be great if staff could figure out a way to better monitor this so these chairs don’t go unused for hours at a time when someone else could use them. While this was an interaction with another guest (no issues with the staff), it just bummed me out. We ended up getting my family out of the water and we headed back to our room since there were no other chairs without towels (plenty of them without people on them). Anyway, just wanted to give this feedback!

Loved the aesthetic of the hotel. Good service. Lovely spa. Food was hit and miss: Lunch on the rooftop was great. My kids loved the sushi. Street tacos at pool bar were yummy. Italian restaurant was mediocre. I wish they had a gourmet Mexican restaurant.

And then there are rare places that feel like they meet you exactly where you are — The Fives Oceanfront Boutique Hotel is one of those places. From the moment we arrived, there was an unmistakable warmth in the air. We weren’t just checked in — we were received. Erika, our ambassador, greeted us with such genuine joy and care that we instantly felt at home. Her kindness went far beyond what anyone would expect. On her day off, she even went out of her way to help me try to find distilled water. That single act perfectly captures the spirit of this hotel: thoughtful, human, and deeply caring. One of the most meaningful parts of my stay was the Joy & Wellness program. These were not simply activities to fill time — they were soulful, creative, and rooted in culture. Each class offered a deeper understanding of Mexico, its traditions, and its artistry. Gustavo, the Joy & Wellness Program Coordinator, led with intention, kindness, and a true love for sharing his culture. I found myself taking notes throughout the week, inspired to keep learning even after returning home. His presence turned each experience into something lasting. Music wove its way gently through my stay and became part of the memory. I was introduced to artists like Natalia Lafourcade, Lila Downs, and Luis Miguel, and I’ve since created a playlist that brings me right back — ocean air, warm evenings, and a sense of peace that’s hard to describe but easy to feel. The care extended through every corner of the hotel. The staff were exceptional — not just professional, but sincerely kind: • Javier at the sushi restaurant • Joseph and Lorenzo, whose service stood out • Ian, the ever-attentive beach waiter • Fernando at the rooftop bar, who made the most wonderful mimosas • Cynthia and Leo at the front desk, who made both check-in and check-out seamless with their calm organization • Eli, who was incredibly helpful • And Alex, another ambassador, whose genuine concern for my aunt — who was traveling with me and had a sore arm — was deeply touching My only regret is not remembering all the other staff names that I had interaction with. Every single waiter, bus person, bartender, or towel attendant were so kind and genuine. Every interaction felt personal. Every smile felt real. The Fives Oceanfront Boutique Hotel is more than a place to stay — it’s a place that values connection, wellness, culture, and care. I left feeling restored, inspired, and grateful, carrying pieces of this experience with me long after the journey ended. This is a place I will remember — and one I hope to return to.
