I’m sure this used to be a wonderful place to stay at some point. The architecture and layout of the hotel are something special, and it’s clear that a lot of thought went into the making of this place. However, our stay was overshadowed by poor attention to basic details from start to finish. When we arrived, our room was not ready, and the staff were rushing to complete it. The room itself had an air conditioner that was so loud it was almost impossible to sleep. We reported it the next morning—it was fixed, but then it leaked for the rest of our three-day stay. We reported this issue twice, and on both occasions were assured that it had been resolved. On the second day, our room wasn’t serviced until 5 p.m. The shower also leaked onto the bathroom floor; we reported this as well but eventually learned to live with it. Additionally, we had a hard time communicating with the staff throughout our stay, as they seemed to struggle with understanding basic English. There were a few really friendly individuals, but unfortunately when there was a problem this was hard to communicate. This place has the making to be something special but we really struggled to fully appreciate all it had to offer, despite the stunning views and beautiful ground floor. I would struggle to consider this hotel alongside other 5 star establishments.

Gorgeous hotel, pool and spa with amazing sea views. The staff were incredible, particularly Prabath who led the water aerobics and yoga. We were the only couple for yoga and we had a 1 hour 20 minute session that really relaxed us and set us up for the day. The food was fantastic and the staff very friendly and approachable. Great gym and spa facilities (spa is very well priced ~£56/hour massage). Our room with a balcony was beautiful, our only issue was the shower leaked during use. Aside from that it was a wonderful stay and I’d thoroughly recommend booking here to enjoy the west coast.

Our Family have been guests at this property since its opening in 1998 , having had some corporate events in the past and spending family time many years ago. My daughter went to the BW as a Toddler when it opened and it was appropriate to have a reception for our Sri Lankan friends and family as well as our guests from Overseas when she got married in October this year. When we chose the property and engaged with the management via our wedding planner, we found a team who was more than willing to go the extra mile and over a period of 6 months, the event was planned at the Seascape with bookings for 35 rooms for our guests. Although the property needs attention and there had to be several details to be attended to by the owners, the Management team, ably led by their GM Gihan, Front of Office Srimal, Chef Anil and F&B Malaka and Niroshan and the housekeeping staff, all stepped up instantly to meet our expectations and our requests. As a Lifetime Platinum Member of the largest hotel chain worldwide, I travel across several of the brands properties for work and pleasure. I am very pleased to say that my wife and I found a willing group of managers who readily attended to every request, fabulous cuisine which was appreciated by all our guests and most of all, excellent Sri Lankan Hospitality which is a benchmark. I wish Gihan and His team the very best for the future of this great Bawa property.

We stayed at Blue Water Hotel for a quick family getaway from Colombo (just about an hour’s drive away), and overall, it was a good value-for-money experience. The hotel has a spacious and welcoming lobby, and the location right by the beach is excellent. The views from the rooms are beautiful, especially during sunset. The pool is large and clean – great for both adults and kids. We had booked a Deluxe Double Room, assuming it came with a bathtub, but were told only "Super Deluxe" rooms have bathtubs – a room category that surprisingly isn't listed on their website. However, the staff were very accommodating and upgraded us free of charge after we explained the situation. We really appreciated this gesture, especially since the kids were looking forward to a bath in the tub. The rooms themselves are a bit dated and could use some maintenance and refurbishment. While they are clean and spacious, a refresh would go a long way. The food was average – nothing to complain about, but nothing exceptional either. The restaurant can get quite noisy. One disappointing moment was when my daughter wanted to take her leftover pastries from her plate to the room, and the staff declined, saying it's against hotel policy. This seemed unnecessary, especially since leftover food likely ends up in the bin anyway. That said, the friendly service, great location, and value on a half-board basis make this a solid option for a short break from the city. With a few improvements, it could be even better.

We visited The Blue Water Hotel and Spa for lunch and had a great experience. The atmosphere is elegant and relaxing, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely meal. The food was delicious and well-presented, and the service was attentive and professional. We really enjoyed the overall experience and the calm, sophisticated setting. We would definitely recommend The Blue Water Hotel and Spa for anyone looking for a quality lunch in a beautiful environment.
