1st hiccup came when i did not recieve any emails/text from the lady in red even 2 days before we arrived. Thankfully an email to kempinski got them started. Our requests prior to check in were all done properly and we were shown our way to our room. However, the room was rather poorly maintained. Water pooled, sliding door couldnt close as it was warped, curtains do not close or open smoothly (its mannual by the way), chipped basin, dirty lamps and dusty surfaces. The 2nd hiccup came when our reservation for funatsea didnt register and we were left waiting n guessing. The kids club staff nearly didnt allow us to enter koral, thankfully my confirmation email convinced them and my son enjoyed the short but private tour. The 3rd hiccup came at koral when their service was really poor but service recovery was carried out on the spot and my son enjoyed his birthday celebration dining with the fishes. The 4th major issue arose when we found a roach late in the night and subsequently another 1 in e middle of the night and another 1 the next morning. I informed the lady in red and was offered pest control. However, my husband was uncomfortable with the pest control smell and i was uncomfortable with the fact that we might be bringing roaches back home if we stayed in e same room. I asked for a change of room in e morning and lady in red said she will check. I informed that we were going out on a day trip and we are leaving at 12 but there were no replies at 11. I had to chase for a room change but was told there were no rooms available (shocking honestly because the whole hotel was soooo quiet and its mid week). I did not want to quibble n destroy my own holiday since they agreed to move our stuff when the new room is available. No service recovery was offered and i was made to feel like i was overbearing for asking a room change. After staying in countless hotels overseas and locally of similar calibre as kempinski, it is truely our 1st time experiencing roaches in our room with zero service recovery offered. Sorrys does not and cannot make up for the horrors we had to experience having cockroaches around us. Oh by the way, our neighbouring room informed us that they found a roach in their mini fridge too! The compound is indeed majestic with a great view (which i enjoyed). However, if basic cleanliness and hygiene are missing, there is a big issue with the basics. After checking out for days, i did not receive any emails to provide a feedback on my stay (this is the only hotel that did not email me to ask for feedback after a stay), i guess they rather not obtain a formal feedback on their issues! Despite my bad room experience, the staff at cliff lounge (both level 9 and 10) were warm, helpful and took great pride in their work. In particular Ari who took care of us for 2 days. Breakfast at the lounge got really boring after the 2nd morning as the food were the same and the variety was limited. I hope that this review gives others a touch of realism to this hotel which seems to have only perfect reviews. Ive definitely already shared with my friends and family members my experience and recommend them to stay elsewhere instead!

🌟 Our Favorite Luxury Family Stay in Bali
| Stayed 4 times between 2020–2023 | Junior Suite Ocean View with Private Pool & Grand Deluxe Ocean Court 🌟 If you’re a mom looking for a truly family-friendly luxury resort in Bali — The Apurva Kempinski is my go-to. We’ve stayed here four times (when our kids were babies and now toddlers), and we keep coming back for the comfort, service, and thoughtful details that make traveling with little ones smoother. The hotel is gorgeous — grand, elegant, and super well-maintained. It’s perched on a cliff with stunning ocean views, and the entire property is filled with beautiful photo spots (we even did two family photoshoots here!). The service is also outstanding. One night my toddler threw up in bed at 2AM — we called housekeeping and within minutes, they were there with new sheets and cleaning supplies. They were kind and efficient, even at that hour. The staff go out of their way to make sure families feel cared for, whether it’s birthday surprises, custom kids' meals, or room requests. The Apurva Kempinski is extremely kids-friendly without compromising luxury: * Massive Kids Club with rotating daily activities * One of the activities includes a trip to Koral Restaurant (aquarium dining) where kids watch hotel divers feed fish, sharks, and rays — so magical! * Clean, calm private beach — safe for toddlers to run around * Spacious open gardens for outdoor play and running * Multiple pools, including a dedicated kids' pool with slides! This is definitely a splurge stay — but for a celebration, anniversary, or just a luxurious reset with the kids, it’s so worth it.
Stay 2 nights if you can to really enjoy it. One night feels rushed, but by Day 2 your whole family will be settled into the flow. Would I recommend it to other moms? Absolutely. We’ve returned again and again — and I know we’ll be back next year too.

Apurva is pinnacle of comfort and luxury. Our Grand Suite was very luxurious and conformable. Super massive King size bed, ultra comfy pillows and exquisite service. The restaurants have very sumptuous food and staff remembered or dietary constraints. In our group, we had different members with nuts or shell fish or gluten allergies and we were catered really well. The spa is amazing and worth a visit.

Very nice hotel. Nice beaches and large pools just got a bit sunburnt 🤣🤣 Japanese dining is particularly nice with self grilled wagyu. Breakfast buffets pose a wide variety of traditional as well as western style cuisines. Poolside restaurant serves many simple but delicious dishes that we enjoyed much. Overall, the hotel rooms varied quite a lot. The one we booked was a bit smaller than expected, but consisted of amazing furniture, complimentary snacks, and was quite cozy and refreshing to stay in. However, we could see some of the rooms had private pools depending on which one you stayed in. Great experience and definitely lives up to its reputation

We had never been to Bali, and were persuaded to visit because of this hotel. It’s beautiful and it’s huge - but not crowded. Five very diverse restaurants to choose from, plus bars. All the food we had was delicious! Recommend a cliff suite for access to cliff lounge. An ocean view from your room just adds to the relaxation. The Spa is also a must visit but make sure you book ahead.
