it’s in a nice location, near times square and next to penn station. we were a group of 6, and they had 2 proper double beds but there was a futon and it was really uncomfortable. when we asked if we could change that in anyway, an employee gave us two single beds we had to make. for the rest, everything was good. the room was clean, peaceful and quiet. good overall.

I gave this hotel five stars for the price you pay and what you get. I mean, it was a two bedroom two bathroom apartment with a complete kitchenette really. The beds were nice and firm and everything worked fine. It was clean. The location was fantastic and the housekeeping staff were really nice. Unfortunately there was a fire above us (this was 2 years ago) and our apartment was completely drenched. They gave us a smaller temporary room. I hope they truly renovate this gem.

Upon arrival we waited quite a bit to check in and then the front desk did not offer directions towards the room or advise the elevators need the room card for access. The exterior and lobby were beautiful but the upstairs hallways are very dark and the room itself was gross as far as I’m concerned. That’s no dig to the (apparently understaffed) staff, it needs to be deep cleaned and furniture needs to be repaired and replaced. The lights take 5-10 seconds to turn on after hitting the switch and there was a large gap even after closing the door where you could see into the hall. The AC didn’t really seem to be working and the TV does not have any channels or options to purchase anything to watch. I was also surprised for the price of the room that they don’t offer anything in the mini fridge. There are no individual shampoos/conditioners in the bathroom, they leave you one bar of soap and refill bottles of everything else which are attached to the shower wall. The towels smelled after getting wet and some were actually torn/shaggy. Water pressure and heat were good but there’s no bathroom fan just a vent in the stall and every fixture was crooked on the wall. One of the bed frames was also really crooked and you could see the yellow pillows beneath their covers in addition to the “comforter” which was so flat I thought they only provided a single sheet. Carpet needed to be badly shampooed or replaced completely and even the lampshades had stains. Overall it’s a roof over your head and there’s no bed bugs, but if you’re staying more than one night or actually want to get your moneys worth this is not the place to be. We will not be returning.

Truly terrible place to stay. Stained carpets; the rooms are worn and furniture beaten up; did not feel clean and the hallways are poorly lit and, frankly, creepy at night. Don't be fooled by the impressive lobby. I booked this spot bc it was walkable to penn station and is a unionized hotel, but never again! If the area hadn't been booked solid nearby, I definitely would have checked out early.

Horrific experience there, absolutely old and dirty room, including hair and yellow stains on the bedsheets and stains on the carpet, holes in the furniture. When asking for a different room at reception I was told there was no other room available. This can happen, so I asked if they can please come clean at the very least my bed so I can sleep, it took 45mins for an old man to show up to tell me I should re-make my bed myself and shoved a ‘clean’ sheet in my hands. Upon unfolding the sheet, there was more stains which was the final straw for me. When demanding a refund and immediate checkout, two people also started physically fighting in the lobby and security had to intervene. As a single female traveler, that made me feel extra unsafe. I am really not a difficult customer to please (stayed in many hotels and hostels across the globe and I don’t require a five star experience) as long as my room is clean, but this is the most horrific hotel I have been to. Decided to leave at 2am and cancel my stay immediately to find another hotel because I did not want to stay. The only positive is that it seemed like the girl at reception was trying her best to help multiple unsatisfied customers best she could. The man at the front desk of my new hotel around the corner said they regularly get horrified customers coming from the Stewart hotel at all hours of the night so he wasn’t surprised. Please do yourself a favor and never stay in this establishment, even if it saves you a couple of bucks.
