During my long weekend stay we initially found the hotels front entrance looking like a staff entrance or delivery gate rather than an inviting hotel entrance, the other side of the hotel had a single sliver Crome gate on the beach side which can only be accessed by using a hotel card provided upon staying in the hotel however the gate is prone to static shocks. The staff were friendly, attentive & polite. The rooms were lacking in cleanliness, under the bed was a woman’s pink fake nail & crumbs, the balcony glass consisted of stains & smear marks from previous guests. The rooms only had 2 sockets with one in the shower room & the other in the main. The fridge was super small & didn’t chill drinks inside. Branding wasn’t on point in the room either. Housekeeping was daily with maids changing towels & making the beds. The outside pool with sun loungers gets closed off to guests really early which is baffling. The location of the hotel is surrounded by restaurants serving mostly fish with the smell being very atomic, walking to the town centre takes about 25 minutes with heavy hills / stairs however there is an elevator costing 50 cent further along the away from the hotel which can be tricky to find. It’s not ideal for those who wish to explore as it would consist of lots of walking. The hotel had 3 elevators just along from the front desk which according to the stickers inside hadn’t had their routine service that was due in 2023. The hotel requires you to place down your credit card or debit card upon staying along with your passport, this is usually standard procedure in most hotels however it’s also a fly way for hotels to charge additional charges it finds especially when there’s some that don’t require it. Overall its lobby does look tidy & rather posh with friendly staff but is lacking in the rooms, branding & odd closer of the pool in the late afternoon.

Went with family and friends, and it was "alright." It's not a place I will rush back to. The rooms, although clean and tidy, were hot. and when we asked about the a/c to be turned on, we were told, "It wasn't time for a/c to be on." The following day, all the outdoor swimming pools were cold, including the toddler's pool. When we asked at reception, we were told that because we requested the a/c to be on the heating for the pools, it had to be switched off. The food was nice, and the service was good, but I won't be rushing back again .

- 2 beds are continuously disconnected. Dancing through the room like an artist/dancer on the ice. Suppose to be 1 king size. - Water in the bath room cannot be regulated because it flows all the time from water tap as well as from shower. Hotel claims to be eco and charge 1 euro for exchange of pool tower but they are not eco inside the room. Water wastes. Light on balcony is on all night without the reason. - Cap and spoon we have received in room were dirty. Ugh. Once we've reported it - hotel crew brought us set of new caps in trash-bag. - Fridge in the room when starts working middle night wakes up everyone. - TV although does not contain internet connection and Netflix - cannot be even connected to mobile phone not pad. Flat but ancient flat. Not smart at all. - Only 1 electric socket close to bed. So we can’t work with my wife at the same time. - Shower gel bottle empty after just day 1. Almost empty upon arrival. - Duvet cover - first time see such solution where 3 pieces of cover are detached. Middle night they are all in different places of bed. - internet modem/router light is flashing all night directly in my eyes. - I am negatively surprised with the fact that for a glass of cockle to dinner I have to pay extra euros. Maybe this is strange for me as usually I do stay at the hotels where this is included. - Yesterday dinner was really not well done. The way chicken and other type of meet was prepared especially grilled - could be the reason of stomach issues.

I am renewing this review because as the week from hell has gone on, further incidents have taken place. I will try and keep this as short and to the point as possible. General cleanliness around the hotel is extremely poor, in particular the dishwear, cutlery, and glasses that guests are expected to use. They are covered in old food. Please see my photos. Guests are sifting through plates and bowls to try and find clean ones. I also have a video to show as evidence. Our room was dire. Hair and dust covered the floors, stains on the curtains, and broken fixtures. Please see pictures of the shower glass door. One of the most concerning issues is the communal womens toilets, where sanitary bins do not have lids on them. That's right, they do not have lids. Please be advised that improper containment of offence waste is an environmental health hazard, as it is a breeding ground for bacteria to grow and spread viruses. I now want to mention the food. Several guests have been struck with food poisoning, and many others have experienced the same thing ( please see TripAdvisor reviews from the last 3 months specifically highlighting this ). Please see my photo of my husbands chicken that he bit into on Saturday evening. It's raw. I took photos and showed the server who said, "I don't know what to do." Make of that what you will. Then I want to mention the equipment in the children's park. My daughter (7) was on the swing when the chain snapped in half. This indicates that very little to no maintenance has been carried out on the equipment that they deem safe for children to use. Lilly fell off, hurt her ankle, and grazed her knee. My husband reported this to reception, where he was told they don't have a policy for injuries. Complete negligence on the hotels part and something I will be pursuing legally. Not one member of staff came to see how Lilly was because, frankly, they don't care. Lastly, let's touch on the staff. Some were ok, but most were very rude. Specifically, one female who said she was the "day manager." She was the most unpleasant human being I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. To highlight, she burst out laughing in my face as i was explaining. I was not happy with the standard of the hotels cleanliness. She then proceeded to mock my Welsh accent. The hotel is also extremely loud, and for guests with children, it is not practical at all. We haven't been able to sleep before 2 am every single night due to loud banging, shouting, and fights breaking out. The anxiety and stress that has completely consumed me and my family over the last 6 days is something that is going to take a while to get over. We have been counting down the days & if there had been alternative flights home, we would have left within the first 24 hours. It's been the holiday from hell, and I sincerely don't want anyone else, especially those with children, to waste their hard earned money and precious time on this horrific place.

I've stayed in Sol Principe a couple of times for a business event and it was good. Rooms are a little bit tired, but you have everything you need there. Big plus for me was that they have a lot of gluten free options in the restaurant, even gf churros 🙂 Nice pool areas for a bit of relaxing and fantastic beach right in front of the hotel. Overall good experience.
