We came for 2 nights and the weather was very windy and even rained on the last day but we loved the hotel and the rooms and the food. The rooms are just really comfortable and spacious and relaxing. We have had a nice welcome and service from the staff all around. The food as well was really good with different choices in the buffet. All in all a wholesome experience. Not to mention the play area for kids. Our little one had fun on the slides and the sand pit.

If you want to get a good trustworthy service on the island, this isn’t the place. However, if you go without expectations only for the location, it is good. For what you pay, housekeeping and buggy service is 1( after waiting for 15 minutes at the parking, the buggy that came denied to take us saying he was never informed while the security at the entrance said he informed twice 🤷‍♀️; housekeeping is a 0-1 ( no towels were replaced, no hand towels kept even after informing the duty manager Crisen; after calling reception/concierge on 9, you will get your request if you’re lucky or only after you call them 5-6 times or never); swimming pool was a 1 as it was cleaned on 1 of the 3 days that we stayed- it was full of plant/insect litter and algae on 2 days; food options and food service is a 1-2;, no kids activities if a minimum number of kids (5 we were told) aren’t there.

Most disappointing was the toilet/shower and wardrobe area. 1) the door of the toilet is made of glass and swing type, can't be locked, no jet spray system. 2) the door of the shower is also swing type, no locking and worst is the glass is transparent. 3) whole area has a door, and only one person can use that area at a time. In the morning we were to start early morning, either to go for a trip or catch a flight. It was tough, to manage on time. 3) the telephone to contact reception wasn't working, it was a real problem, usage was not friendly at all. I have been to many countries in Europe, Japan, etc., inspite of language problem, I never had any issue like I faced in SO Sofitel Mauritius. 4) worst was walking in the night to go to cafeteria, the roadside lights had lights, they were very localised and very very weak, I had tough time to negotiate. The road was broken at places, I had use the mobile torch. There were steps, but as the light less and unmarked, I had missed one and toppled once, the very fast day itself. 5) Another issue was going to the gate, the cars are not allowed inside, one has to wait for a buggy (which we call 'Toto'), even when we arrived on the first day, we had to wait about half an hour to get a buggy, one came that was to take our luggage and wait for another for us. Everytime we come back from a trip we had wait quit long to get a buggy. It used to dark and walking wasn't a pleasure as we were tired after a long trip. I had been to a similar beach resort in Goa, Holiday Inn, if I give 9/10, I would give 2/10 to SO Sofitel, Mauritius.

We went for holiday to this hotel.suits are very clean as some of staff is also very nice.but it seems some of them are not happy with us indians.there is no veg indian food avail in hotel.only pizza pasta nd fries.we reached at hotel after 12 hour of journey they keep us wait at loby for three hours.also they dnt allow to order a food for us.as they first they are saying breakfast is going on so restaurent cant take order.after some time we ask again they said restaurent is close.one kind lady give is some croissant nd some milk bread to eat.so not satisified with the retaurent rules for travellers that thaey cant atleast feed there 9 year old kid nd there self so….will definatly dnt go this hotel again😞…u cant order food that is very bad . Bad experience.improve it for indians as well others.they welcome french nd english people more nicely that we saw.

My partner and I are currently staying at the property So Sofitel Mauritius and our experience unfortunately have been terrible. There is an ant infestation in our room since the time we checked in and the issues has not yet been resolved. The private outdoor plunge pool/bathtub outside our room is unusable and is dirty. After making several requests to get it cleaned in order to use it, nothing has been done. It’s our day 3 and we haven’t used it yet. Apart from a few genuinely nice and cooperative staff at the property everyone else have been indifferent and impolite throughout especially towards resolving our issues. Coming to the food, the breakfast buffet has hardly any vegetarian options (we did inform the staff prior about our food preferences) There’s just bread, boiled sweet potato, fruit and cheese. Not just Indian dishes, they don’t really have any option in vegetarian international cuisines as well. After requesting several times one of the chefs was generous enough to serve me some vegetarian options. The a la carte menu has only just 4-5 vegetarian dishes and that too are not so good. Although we paid for a chef’s special dinner which was extremely good. The room service facility has been almost unavailable throughout. We have to call at least 5-7 to get anything in our room. I regret leaving poor review for such a reputed hotel chain but it was really needed. The list of our complaints and inconveniences suffered at our stay can go on but we’re just accepting that we made a terrible choice of making a booking with Sofitel.
