Hotel rooms are positioned nicely, but are dated. Generally pleasant experience. Service was slow when requesting things like towels, sometimes two calls and visit till they brought towels (they took them early in the day when they serviced the rooms, but didn't leave fresh ones at the same time) Drinks and restaurant overpriced. Luckily we hired a car and ate elsewhere. Water is solar heated and we only had hot showers a couple of days due to the cloud cover. Golf buggy drivers however were the nicest and friendliest of all the staff. Location was good with a hire car if you want to do Central island, waterfalls, 7 coloured earth etc. But for a beach holiday I would recommend North or West.

My partner and I are currently staying at the property So Sofitel Mauritius and our experience unfortunately have been terrible. There is an ant infestation in our room since the time we checked in and the issues has not yet been resolved. The private outdoor plunge pool/bathtub outside our room is unusable and is dirty. After making several requests to get it cleaned in order to use it, nothing has been done. It’s our day 3 and we haven’t used it yet. Apart from a few genuinely nice and cooperative staff at the property everyone else have been indifferent and impolite throughout especially towards resolving our issues. Coming to the food, the breakfast buffet has hardly any vegetarian options (we did inform the staff prior about our food preferences) There’s just bread, boiled sweet potato, fruit and cheese. Not just Indian dishes, they don’t really have any option in vegetarian international cuisines as well. After requesting several times one of the chefs was generous enough to serve me some vegetarian options. The a la carte menu has only just 4-5 vegetarian dishes and that too are not so good. Although we paid for a chef’s special dinner which was extremely good. The room service facility has been almost unavailable throughout. We have to call at least 5-7 to get anything in our room. I regret leaving poor review for such a reputed hotel chain but it was really needed. The list of our complaints and inconveniences suffered at our stay can go on but we’re just accepting that we made a terrible choice of making a booking with Sofitel.

A two star experience with a five star price tag. The SO Sofitel has well designed rooms and the resort layout is a great concept. Maintenance issues, aging facilities and questionable service levels made for a below par guest experience, however. Golf carts to transport the guests around the resort were too few in number, with most in service or unavailable. We had luke warm and cold showers for most of our stay and had to ask for the basics; bath towels, hand towels and face cloths. The breakfast menu was adequate but table service slow. The restaurant was over priced and so never more than a couple of tables taken. We hired a car and enjoyed our days elsewhere on the island.

Nice resort, but the location is in the middle of nowhere. So either you stay there all time or rent a car or spend a fortune on taxis. Facilities are good, but some repair on the furniture would be nice to have. The food is good,beer is overpriced. Stuff is extra friendly. Overall quite a good impression, mostly suitable for beach holiday with the family

Stayed for 2 nights, the suites were very comfy and wonderful. The food wasn't equipped for Indian vegetarians though. We were there to celebrate my wife's 41st birthday and So Sofitel team over email confirmed that they would arrange a cake which never came, was sort of disappointing. But their extreme gesture for packing breakfast for us for an early check-out won our hearts 💕
