2/5 – Very Disappointing Experience at Sofitel Mauritius I had high expectations for my stay at the Sofitel in Mauritius, but unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the standard this brand usually represents. The biggest letdown was the condition of the room. It was far from clean—we noticed ants and even gnats inside. The room felt outdated and poorly maintained. There were not enough towels, and surprisingly, no trash bins in the room. For a hotel of this category and price range, that’s simply unacceptable. I tried to cancel my booking early during the stay due to the issues, but no one responded to my request. I ended up spending four frustrating days there without support. On a positive note, the staff were genuinely kind and helpful, and the food was quite good, which are the only two redeeming aspects of this stay. Sadly, the rest was a major disappointment. The value for money just isn’t there. I would not recommend this hotel unless serious improvements are made.

We had a good stay, our room was nice and clean. We really enjoyed the nice beach (good for snorkeling too), the pool, the breakfast and the outdoor shower. Check-in was great, we felt very welcome. If you want to explore the island, you will need a car, as the SO Sofitel is far from everything. The only downside, which has impacted our stay was the late checkout handling. Our flight departed late, so I asked for a late checkout beforehand via email. I was told to ask again during our stay. However, during out stay I was told that they can only tell me if it’s possible on my last day. This is way too late. And then, it was denied. So I had to ask them again, have had a discussion, then we could finally get a late checkout. But, surprisingly, we had to change the room on the day of departure. I found this very stressful, especially as we also paid for the late c/o. This handling needs improvement. Also, during the room move, one of our suitcases fell off their buggy, resulting in many scratches. Not nice.

Dear Team, It was indeed a nice place to stay, but only place doesn't define a 5 star Resort. Although the staff were very warm, but what do I do with your warmth when you cannot place/replace water bottles in the room. What do I do with your warmth when a request for buggy to carry my luggage can take forever. What do I do with warmth when there are no instructions manual for tv kept in the room. PROBABLY, TRAINING THE TEAM WOULD FIX IT.

It's a wonderful place on earth, with a unique design concept and park. However, it needs an update to live up to the standards defining luxury today. Many chairs and daybeds at the beach are without cushions, there are no waiters at the beach. The furniture and draperies in the main restaurant are slightly dingy. In the standard rooms there's no armchair, though there's lots of space, the water pressure in the shower is low and the small garden could use some attention and, again, some cushions. The whole resort looks like it's stuck in 10 to 15 years ago, but if Accor invested quite some money it could be amazing again. Not to forget, staff is very friendly and helpful.

I stayed at this hotel with my family and our experience couldn’t be better ! The hotel is incredible , quiet and beautiful. The members of staff were outstanding , and my son who is 3 loved they way all members of staff said hi to him and interact with him . He even got a little fridge magnet at the end as a present from one meme we of staff
