Bella Bella
A beautiful seaside resort with one of the most breathtaking sunset views in Kota Kinabalu. The atmosphere in the evening is truly special — live music starts around sunset, creating a relaxed, almost magical mood while you watch the sun disappear into the horizon. The Sunset Bar is definitely a highlight and worth visiting even if you are not staying at the hotel. The property offers several pools, so it never feels overcrowded, and you can always find a quieter corner to relax. Perfect for both families and couples. The only downside during our visit was that the main lobby is currently under maintenance. Unfortunately, this made the entrance feel less welcoming and not quite aligned with the luxury experience the resort usually represents. And yes the poll also should be fixed . But they told me they are going renovating all. Main lobby ready at July. Overall, despite the temporary inconvenience, the stunning location, great facilities, and unforgettable sunsets make this resort a place I would gladly return to.

The moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt calm, welcoming, and beautifully maintained. The resort has a stunning beachfront view, especially during sunset, and the overall environment feels peaceful and luxurious at the same time. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive. Every interaction, from check in to dining to simple requests, was handled with genuine hospitality. They made me feel truly cared for throughout the stay. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with views that made waking up every morning feel special. The facilities were also impressive. The pool, the private beach area, and the dining options all added to the experience. Everything felt thoughtfully designed to give guests a relaxing and memorable holiday. This stay has set a new standard for me. It turned my first trip to Sabah into something truly meaningful, and I would absolutely return again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a beautiful and unforgettable getaway.

We had an absolutely wonderful honeymoon stay at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and excellent hospitality that made our honeymoon feel truly special. The room was spacious, beautifully maintained, and offered a stunning sea view perfect for a romantic and relaxing getaway. The ambiance throughout the resort was calm and luxurious, ideal for couples celebrating a special occasion. The facilities were top-notch, especially the swimming pool and beachfront area, where we enjoyed breathtaking sunsets every evening. Breakfast was delightful with a wide variety of choices, and the staff were always attentive, friendly, and professional. A special thank you to the team for the thoughtful touches that made our honeymoon memorable. Shangri-La Tanjung Aru is truly the perfect place for a romantic escape, and we would definitely love to return again. Stayed at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru last week, booked through Booking.com. The stay itself was fine, however the post-stay service was extremely disappointing. I requested an official invoice for claim purposes. Despite multiple calls and follow-up messages, the hotel was unable to provide an official invoice or even any proof of stay, repeatedly citing "because you booked thru third-party platform". They said a tax invoice can only be issued if the booking is made through the hotel’s own website. This is the first time I have ever encountered such an issue, despite having stayed at many hotels where invoices are routinely issued regardless of booking platform. Even it should be an SOP to give an invoice during checkout. For a hotel of this standard, the lack of flexibility, poor coordination, and unreasonable justification are unacceptable. Highly frustrating experience for travellers who require proper documentation. Disappointing to see a well-known brand handling a very basic administrative request so poorly.

3rd time to this hotel. Currently undergoing a big renovation including adding another swimming pool, updating all rooms. All construction was well hidden and didn't disrupt the holiday at all. Sunset bar is a must but please book ahead as gets very busy for sunset, as you can imagine. Hanief the food and beverage manager is worth a mention as well as Paul from the pool area. In all fairness all the staff are so happy and go the extra mile Breakfast can get very busy around 8.00am so best to go early. Breakfast food selection is A1.
