I recently stayed at Shangri-La Golden Sands to celebrate my son’s 2nd birthday, and overall, it was a pleasant experience with memorable service from the support team. I initially planned to book a Seaview room, but after seeing a room-upgrade voucher on my app, I decided to use it instead. There was a small hiccup regarding which room category I needed to book in order to apply the voucher, and by the time everything was clarified, the upgrade was no longer available due to the weekend rush. I contacted Shangri-La’s support, and Ying (using her call-name to protect her identity) along with her team were very helpful and understanding. They took the time to review my situation, especially since the stay was for my son’s birthday and eventually managed to apply the voucher for us. I really appreciated their patience and effort. When we checked in, we were welcomed with a birthday cake in the room. Although they mentioned they would try to arrange something special, and the cake was the only gesture, I’m still grateful. I understand how busy weekends can get with many families staying over. On our last day, we enjoyed a beautiful view from the room, which I captured in a photo. We also saw a bunch of monkeys around the area. They didn’t disturb us at all, but if you're staying on the lower floors, it’s best to keep your balcony door closed, just as a precaution. Don’t be afraid, they generally mind their own business. Overall, despite the initial booking issue, the thoughtful service and genuine hospitality made our stay enjoyable. I would happily consider returning for another family-friendly getaway.

I love everything about this resort!! we went there to celebrate my daughter's birthday and the hotel team arranged a beautiful room deco, balloons and cake as complimentary. A huge thanks to them. She also received a lovely handwritten birthday card. Unfortunately, I left the card in the room itself during checkout. Still regretting over it. There is a mini waterpark with slide and pools for kids and adults. The breakfast was good with variety of choices from Asian to Western. I love the beach sittings. They also have an indoor play area with clown for kids. I defenitely returning here in future. Thank you Team

Sorry this is a boring review without pictures. I was having too much fun and forgot to take pictures of the resort. Great family friendly resort. The rooms are spaciously large. We were give an extra small bed for our 6 year old son. Our 6 and 3 year olds children had a great time playing in the several pools they have. There is also a fun little spray park with 2 water slides. There's a bar in the pool area with resort prices. The pool area is very clean. The beach is steps away from the pool area. The beach isn't too bad. The sand is a little more course than say Thailand but it isn't bad. The kids had fun. There are several local food options within walking distance from the hotel. Some are pricier than others but not bad. There's a McDonald's across the street. Georgetown is about a 30min-45min grab ride away. Lots of good food and durian in Georgetown. The airport is about a 1hr car ride from the hotel. It was about a 60myr grab ride from hotel to airport, varies by peak. Service was good at the hotel and was great for our family. Only downside was that it is a little ways from Georgetown, if you do wish to spend more time there. The hotel cost was very reasonable considering, room size and amenities. Highly recommend for families.

Stayed for 8 days at Golden Sands Shangri La resort and it was very good and memorable. The hotel is a bit old, but very clean and maintained well by staff. This is a family-oriented resort with a large kids play room and multiple pools. Staff are all friendly and attentive and warmly greet you. Room was comfortable and spacious. The bed was very nice and one of the best that I have slept on. Breakfast offerings were fresh and very expansive! One of the best breakfast buffets that I have ever been to.

A Wonderful Family-Friendly Beach Resort Experience We had a fantastic leisure trip with family at this beautiful holiday resort. The property offers a wide range of amenities, making it perfect for both relaxation and fun. The multiple pools are a delight, especially for kids, and the overall atmosphere is very pleasant. The sea-view rooms are elegant and well-maintained, offering stunning views that truly elevate the experience. One of the highlights is the easy access to the beach from the back side of the resort, where you can walk straight into the sea and enjoy exciting water sports like parasailing, boating, and more. Overall, it was a memorable stay filled with joy and relaxation. Highly recommended for families looking for a mix of comfort, adventure, and scenic beauty.
