We had a fantastic stay at Shangri-La Golden Sands! The hotel kindly upgraded our room, which was such a pleasant surprise. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of delicious options, plenty to choose from for both adults and kids. It’s a truly family-friendly resort, with a fun kids’ pool and an indoor playground that kept our children entertained throughout our stay. Thank you to the team for accommodating my request for a room near the elevator. It made everything so convenient. Highly recommended for families looking for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday!

For a 43 year old hotel, it’s still very nice and well kept. The whole district on Batu Ferringhi has experienced hardship since COVID and before that with the Indian Ocean tusnamis in. 2005. So with that being said I spent the last 6 days there and had a great time, people who frequent Penang may put it on the hotel not being up to par but to be honest I think it’s the whole district that has dropped, golden sands has reportedly had issues with erosion of rocks by the beach effecting the accessibility for water sports u can still get onto the beach but it’s very rocky and steep passage u must take, The hotel pool and facilities are good, the staff by the pool are great the food and drinks service is really good, happy hour at 5pm at Ziggys bar down the back of the pool area buy one drink they bring u 2. Kids club was a bit disappointing, opening at 2.30-6 And if you wanted to do the activities they were extra and if the kids got hungry they weren’t given anything, but we told them to bill to the room anything they want snacks and they did for us, and was real cheap too. Breakfast was ok, an all inclusive buffet with a good selection for all palette types. Unlike Hollywood disney hotel in HongKong who only really catered for Asian guests. Golden sands hand something for everyone, the security and hotel staff were very pleasant.. I would return to this resort and recommend it. Solid 4 stars out of 5 Note - hotel doesn’t change currency, but across the road is a tailor called sparks tailoring he has a legit money changer in his shop. Go there if u need to change money and lee grocer across the road also is great if u want any grocery supplies. Cigarettes big selection.

A Wonderful Family-Friendly Beach Resort Experience We had a fantastic leisure trip with family at this beautiful holiday resort. The property offers a wide range of amenities, making it perfect for both relaxation and fun. The multiple pools are a delight, especially for kids, and the overall atmosphere is very pleasant. The sea-view rooms are elegant and well-maintained, offering stunning views that truly elevate the experience. One of the highlights is the easy access to the beach from the back side of the resort, where you can walk straight into the sea and enjoy exciting water sports like parasailing, boating, and more. Overall, it was a memorable stay filled with joy and relaxation. Highly recommended for families looking for a mix of comfort, adventure, and scenic beauty.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Breakfast is a great spread. Got the family room to accommodate us and teenage son. Room had a decent sized bed, had a separate area for teen with a divider to close that was appreciated by the teen! Pool is of a decent size for the grownups. Tennis courts can be booked for free - they lend you a racquet and tennis balls. Golf - there is a minimal charge of 26 MYR per person. Location is good too. Giving it a 4 star only because the rooms and bathroom are a bit dated and could do with some renovation.

it was a really nice experience! The staff were friendly, the room was comfortable, and the beach access was great. Currently, there’s some renovation work going on near the beach bar, so it can get a bit noisy during the day, but it didn’t really affect our stay much. Still a lovely place to relax and enjoy Penang’s seaside vibes.
