My mom and I had an amazing vacation at Secrets The Vine Cancun! The hotel staff made a great first impression when we checked in - it was a seamless experience. It's a very clean and well maintained resort - the staff were incredibly friendly and always went out of their way to make sure we felt comfortable and had everything we needed. What really stood out was our interactions and experience with Aisha from the hotel entertainment team. She was engaging, fun and truly authentic in her approach to guest experience. She took the time to get to know us and was a joy to be around. Every time we saw her around the hotel, she would always make an effort to say hello, kept us up to date on the resort entertainment and activities and made us feel like we were at home. Aisha is an incredible host and made our stay so memorable! The restaurants and food was consistently delicious. The resort offered a lot of variety, and the service at every restaurant and bar was outstanding. There's a lot of entertainment during the day and in the evenings as well. The beach is also incredible. Highly recommend!

I toured this hotel for a potential conference location before Hyatt purchased the property. We couldn’t get the pricing to work out for the conference but I’ve been dying to go back since! I was super excited to book this for my birthday week. My BF came with- this was his first trip to Cancun. The first thing I noticed was the appearance of the hotel had really declined. It did not feel like a luxury property at all. It was tired and there was a strong sewer smell throughout the lobby area. Our room was great! We upgraded to the premium level when we arrived. The service was amazing- everyone we encountered was professional, happy, kind and helpful. 10/10- service. The food was marginal, making the overall value of the stay below expectations. Between the poor quality of the food and the sewer smell, I wouldn’t go back. I was embarrassed that I talked it up so much to my bf before we arrived. Whatever you do, don’t do the Hyatt Vacation Club presentation. They gave us a discount on our upgrade, valued at $300 for a 90 min presentation. Buying into the vacation club means paying $300k for a 100 year membership to receive discounts on rooms. We did some research after- all the reviews were beyond bad. They start out great until you say no for the 3rd time, to the 5th person- then, get snarky. Not worth it at all. Save your vaca time. Hopefully, they can fix the differed maintenance and food quality.

We have stayed at several cancun resorts and Secrets was definitely the most relaxed atmosphere. The food was alright. Best food we had was at the Sea Salt Grill and the shrimp tacos poolside. We found that the 12th floor area pool was much more crowded than the ground floor area so we didnt end up spending any time there. Make sure to wake up early for seats at the pool. Pretty much all seats will be taken by 8am. Favorite drinks were Mango Tango, mango Margarita, and the Scooby Snack shot. The inside bar has wonderful espresso martinis and cosmopolitans.

We just returned from a 5-day stay at Secrets The Vine, and I’m sad to say the biggest secret of all is how this place maintains a five-star rating. The resort is undeniably beautiful, and the staff, though a bit basic, try really hard. But charm only gets you so far. By 8 a.m., every beach, pool, patio chair is mysteriously “reserved,” yet somehow no one is actually sitting in them. It’s like the Hunger Games. Fear not though, if you’re desperate enough, the beach staff will happily sell you “VIP” seating for $100 USD, which feels less like an upgrade and more like a hostage negotiation. The à la carte restaurants consistently served beautiful plates… at temperatures best described as “refreshingly disappointing.” When your osso buco is colder than your margarita, something has gone terribly wrong. The concierge team tries hard, but their approach is more enthusiastic greeter than polished professional. Repeating “welcome home” doesn’t magically transform the place into a luxury experience, especially when most of our requests vanished into the void. The grand finale: we lost our airport transfer because we were 20 minutes late—delayed thanks to my wife getting a sudden, explosive “farewell gift” from the breakfast buffet. We were promptly abandoned by the hotel staff and had to fend for ourselves. All in all, Secrets The Vine gave us plenty of memories—just not the kind we’d return for.

This resort definitely stands out in the hotel strip and is quite a modern lowkey design that doesnt scream flashy in your face. It felt more like a hotel with all inclusive amenities rather than your typical resort. The welcome was great as usual but lacked a tour of the resort. Albeit this resort was small, we had to do more exploring to ourselves. If you booked a preferred room, you get a private check in desk on the 21st floor. It does get quite loud up there depending on other guests so it doesnt feel as intimate or relaxing. Eduardo, our butler, was amazing and friendly. He answered any question we had for him and provided us with information about going off resort. The pools are great on a hot sunny day, but they are super cold when the sun isn't out or if its windy. Getting poolside chairs or even beach chairs was a pain. People wake up early and claim the chairs and sometimes you dont even see them there at all. This is more on the guests than it is the Resort, but it wouldnt hurt to enforce a rule or something so every guest can get a chance to relax. The restaurants are questionable. Dont get me wrong. The food was amazing and I enjoyed it. The wait times is what got me. Waiting 45+ min for a dish to come out is quite abysmal I must say. Sea salt grill, bare foot grill, the market cafe & buffet, and the market cafe a la carte Mexican for dinner is what stood out to me the most and we're the best in terms of good food, fast service, and excellent staff. The beach was exceptional. No seaweed, good waves and nice sand. Due to the property restrictions, the seats were limited. The location is quite great. The bus stop is close by for you to go to the mall or playa delfines. Amstar and other companies are on site to provide you with excursions as well if that interests you. Would i come back here again? Maybe. It was good for the price I booked it at, but nothing too crazy stands out for me. It felt like it was trying to be a high end resort without having the ample space or staff to manage it. I would come back for those Market Café pretzels, though 😂
