My husband and I recently visited Secrets St.Martin! We were unsure of what to expect , as reviews were mixed, but we were beyond thrilled with our experience at Secrets ! The staff at the resort are so friendly, and always make sure you are taken care of . The food and drinks were also excellent, we did not have one bad meal , and we felt that they really had a great selection to choose from . The location of the resort is probably the best feature. The beach was literally paradise, the landscape surrounding it is breath-taking, and very tranquil we never had an issue with finding chairs at the beach…We read a lot of poor reviews about the resort being run down, however we did not feel that way at all, there are definitely a few things that need a little updating, but aside from that everything is clean and really kept beautiful. We will definitely be returning to secrets st.martin !

Don't believe all the bad reviews, those are mostly from people who are uppity and expect to be waited on hand and foot. We are not those people and we had a wonderful stay. The location is wonderful, it is not too far from the airport (although the roads are narrow and curvy and steep, so if you get motion sickness, take something before the drive). It is very remote, surrounded by lush mountains. The pool is lovely, and huge, although we didn't spend any time in it, it was clean when we walked by it, and there was a DJ playing music most of the day, but it was so big that you could easily escape the music if you so wished. The Beach is pretty close to perfect. The sand is soft and white, and there was no a rock in site when you walked into the water. You can walk about 30-40 ft before it's at your shoulders (i'm 5'6). and it is all sand under your feet. The water is warm, and clear, with the odd fishies, so grab from bread from the buffet if you want them to swarm you. We did this one day and it was awesome. The water is also quite calm for the most part, there was one day that there was quite a bit of sargassum on the shore, and it was pretty choppy, but it was cleaned up the next day, and didn't bother us at all, we just stepped over it. You will need to have someone in your group get up early to secure the "good" spots with umbrellas, because there aren't a ton and there is next to no shade on the beach, so it is better if you have some. We typically went down around 730, and there were lots of spots left. The food was great, and the staff were even better. Remember that this side of the island is technically France, so all staff speak French, but they also pretty much all speak perfect English, so no worries about a language barrier, although you may find some with other guests, as we found that we were definitely the minority when it came to English speaking guests. Lots of French Canadians, and Europeans. We didn't have a single problem with any staff, they were all lovely and nothing but helpful at all times. The rooms were just a standard hotel room, but VERY clean. Every day when we got back to our room, it was spotless. Great balcony to unwind on at the end of the day. Bed was very comfortable (which is surprising for me because i am VERY picky when it comes to mattresses), the pillows definitely left something to be desired, as is the same at most hotels for me, so if you're picky about pillows, bring your own if you can :). If you are like my husband and I and like to watch TV before bed, bring your Amazon Fire Stick or Roku or Chromecast with you. Also if you have Samsung phone, you can screen mirror to the TV and watch whatever you'd like off your phone. Honestly, the only "complaint" i have is the way the resort is laid out, there is a lot of walking, so if you have any sort of mobility issues or injuries that are affected by walking, it can be a bit tough. I had a sore toe, which made walking difficult, and found it hard to get around when it was really sore. The resort itself is on the small side, it is just a big property, so it is a walk to get everywhere. Again, nothing the hotel can do about this! but just something to think about if you're not interested in walking much on vacation. All in all, we had a fabulous vacation. The crowd is older (think 50s-70s) and very laid back, so if you are looking for something with a party atmosphere, this is not it. We are in our mid-30s, but were looking for something more laid back, as that is the type of people we are. All entertainment was typically done by 10:00 p.m., and most people were in their rooms by this point. Another thing to consider! :)

Secrets St. Martin was a fantastic getaway! The food was delicious, with plenty of variety to satisfy. Service was top-notch—staff were friendly and attentive. The location is stunning, perfect for soaking in the island’s beauty. Our Privilege Swim-Out Room was a highlight, offering luxury and direct pool access. Highly recommend!

3.5 stars, the location of the resort/beach is absolutely beautiful if you are seeking a quiet and relaxing resort without entertainment. (no activities, evening shows, water sports or equipment rentals) The beach has beautiful calm and clear water, there is a water-sport rental business that is not a part of the resort but we were bummed there was no where to rent a snorkel and a ton of rocks/coral and fish to see along the jetty. Tons of available seating and umbrellas on the beach, the beach bar was very quiet and you can quickly get a drink. (beach bar is not located on the beach) The pool is great but filled with sand, the showers to rinse off leaving the beach were not working… the pool bar was open but the swim up bar was not open once in the week that we were there. Tons of available seating with sun or shade as well as towels. The food at the buffet was average, I thought everything tasted great the food was just a bit repetitive and lacked variations. The Japanese restaurant was the only actual specialty restaurant that stayed open during our stay, highly recommend it if you like sushi and hibachi. The other specialty restaurants were open on a rotating schedule served in the conference/ball room that they transitioned into a temporary restaurant while the actual building for these restaurants on the beach was closed… this was very disappointing as the atmosphere was strange but the food was very very good. The staff and service at the resort was most definitely a 10/10, we had no problem tipping for their great service except there is NO ATM on the property or close by… we eventually ran out of cash and the closest ATM is at a bank at least 3km away so you will have to take a taxi and hope they are open… lovely shops across the street that take credit cards as well as an amazing Italian restaurant that I would highly recommend. The resort is located at least 30-45 minutes from all tourist attractions, excursions, shopping, public beaches etc so if you are planning to go out and explore or book excursions be prepared to bring lots of cash for taxis every fare was $40 - $50 each way.. . much cheaper to rent a car if you plan on going out and exploring and feel comfortable driving on the windy island roads here. Resort is much smaller than we thought, the grounds and buildings are a bit run down and are most definitely in need of some maintenance… overall we had a great stay and would recommend this resort for the average person looking for a relaxing vacation as this most definitely is not a luxurious or entertainment savvy/party resort. The rooms were beautiful, spacious and the cleaning staff did an outstanding job keeping them clean!

First time at an all inclusive, the staff was really nice, but the resort definately needs some love. The hallways to the rooms were a mess, but i was happy when the room was in good condition. Reminds me of a carnival cruise ship on land, which we overall enjoyed, but the price was high for what you get. Food was good, not great.
