Overall Experience We chose Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen for our wedding because it was an all-inclusive resort that checked nearly every box. From arrival, the private lagoon entrance and open-concept lobby made an incredible first impression. Throughout our stay, the staff treated us like royalty—everyone knew we were getting married and truly made the experience feel special. While no resort is perfect, we want to share both the highlights and a few drawbacks. Pros Resort & Rooms Stunning views throughout the property Luxurious, modern, open layout Multiple pools with different vibes, including quiet cenote-style pools Comfortable, well-designed rooms with an upscale feel Food & Dining Consistently good food across most restaurants Wedding-day food, drinks, and hors d’oeuvres were a hit with guests Standout dining options: Dos Almas – Authentic, flavorful Mexican food Barefoot Grill – Great pizza and guacamole, quick service Coco Café – Open 24 hours with great sandwiches and sweets Market Café (breakfast) – Wide variety and very good quality Preferred Rooftop Club – Excellent breakfast and lunch; worth the upgrade Seasoul – Great food with beautiful ocean views Taco and crepe carts at night were a fun addition; tacos were a bit salty but customizable, and the crepes were made fresh and delicious. Drinks Well-balanced cocktails, not watered down Bars conveniently located throughout the resort Guest favorites included mango margaritas, piña coladas, Miami Vice, and Bahama Mamas Nightlife & Entertainment One of the biggest reasons we chose this resort was the variety of nightlife options without leaving the property: Beach fire shows with BBQ Silent disco Hidden speakeasy leading to Gypsy Nightclub, which had a spacious dance floor, great music mix (hip-hop, EDM, Latin), fog, lasers, and strong drinks Moxché Theatre shows were hit or miss (about 5/10 overall) Wedding Experience The wedding day itself was perfectly organized and on schedule. Guests loved the food, signature drinks, and overall experience, and we continue to receive compliments. Thanks to our planners, we were completely stress-free on the big day. Planners we worked with: On-site: Faride Pride Maya Weddings (Emily & Lorenzo) Paradise Weddings (Ryan Crane & Annie) for travel coordination Planning Challenges Required to use resort vendors only Pricing lacked transparency and changed frequently Additional taxes and fees were added later and not clearly communicated upfront Despite this, all issues were handled seamlessly on the wedding day. Cons: Slow drink service at the pool at times Seaweed limited beach enjoyment during our stay Final Thoughts Despite a few service and planning frustrations, Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen delivered an unforgettable wedding experience. Our guests had an amazing time, and the resort provided beautiful scenery, excellent food, fun nightlife, and a truly special atmosphere. Because of this experience, we plan to try other Secrets resorts throughout Mexico and worldwide.

I would come to this resort again and I don’t say that about a lot of places. The property (pools, etc.) and service were amazing. I also loved the nighttime activities, such as the live music, theatre, and speakeasy. I heeded the advice in the reviews to go to the restaurants when they open and never had a problem. One night we went very late to the restaurant and were seated at closing time but the waitress was so nice and did not make us feel rushed or unwanted at all. Also the beach in front of the resort was amazing, as well! Loved the view from our room and also spent all day in the ocean one day. Everyone I spoke to was happy about their stay, in a good mood, and said the food is really good for an all inclusive.

This was our 3rd time at this property with the last time visiting was last Jan. 2024. We initially attended this time for a destination wedding on the rooftop and stayed to make it a Christmas Vacation. The property itself is still the same and being kept up but we did quickly notice changes with service and restaurants and bars. They no longer have some of the premium liquors like last time such as Don Julio 70, Appleton rums and etc. We also noticed that bars that was normally opened during the day, now opened in the evening instead leaving all the open bars during the day on the beach or rooftop (Preferred). Also noticed changes with the Bamboo restuarant as well as the Gypsy Club (seating reservations process has changed and increased). The room service menu has also definetly changed and needs to be modified to add back some of the old menu. Besides that, we had A/C issues in our room the 1st 2 nights before they were able to get it to work properly. Due to the wedding, the 1st several days we were moving nonstop before able to rest and relax the 2nd part of the trip which I don't recall any additional issues. That was mainly because we had great support who checked on us daily and throughout the day. I'm also glad we were able to finally make it to 5th Avenue and spend some time as well to help make this trip. Overall, we still like this property but not love it anymore but will visit again. Probably just for the VIP Event or after some time has passed and some more changes has been made. Recognitions 1. Guillermo (our UVC rep) - when things wasn't going right or any issues we had he quickly addressed and directed it to the needed area for resolution. 2. Mr. Jose (Sommelier) - who made sure any event reservations, bottle service, and restaurant inquiries was taken care of which allowed us to sit back and just enjoy while he took care of all the setup. 3. Amairany (Bali Bed Waitress) - she was so fun to be around and made sure our area was setup properly and provided excellent service after our Bali Bed area wasn't initially setup or ready when we arrived.

Gorgeous view, beautiful property, amazing service! The food was also delicious! We really didn't experience any issues here. Our concierge Orlando was very helpful and friendly during our stay. Adrian at the front desk was also a big help to us, even though we were using the preferred lounge access. Our experience at the restaurants were great as well. We tried the buffet a couple of times and it was good but we preferred the rooftop restaurant for breakfast (the lunch menu up there wasn't really to our personal liking). The pathways, pools, beach were all very well taken care of. Noise levels were low overall, even though I've read some complaints about music from the pool area starting too early (930 a.m. wasn't early for us for instrumental pool music based on our room location). The only critique I could give is sometimes the alcoholic drinks were a bit mild and the cooked food in restaurants could have been a little hotter; some entrees we ordered came out warm but not as hot as expected. I would still return most definitely!

The resort is visually gorgeous and full of potential, but unfortunately the fundamentals are seriously lacking. We stayed 5 nights in early December and paid a high price expecting a relaxed, high-quality experience. Instead, hygiene issues ruined our stay. I got food poisoning (vomiting for a full day and not being able to eat anything, getting a bit better to be able to eat a bit, a severe diarrhea right after!). I reported this to the concierge and was asked to fill out a form about what I ate. There was no follow-up or ownership, just an apology and an offer for chicken soup! At this price point, food safety should be non-negotiable. Especially you are going to drink and eat only what’s provided by the resort. To make matters worse, we found a cockroach in our bathroom. When we reported it, we were told a “deep cleaning” would be arranged. We clearly told them multiple times that we did NOT want room cleaning, especially after seeing the cleaning staff change towels with the same hand used to clean the toilet, and then put back a towel that had fallen on the floor. Despite this, a team showed up the next morning with pesticide spray machines. Really? Spraying pesticide WHILE we’re supposed to stay another night at that room??? So lucky I had diarrhea to stay at the room that day! We had a Preferred Club swim-out room, which was beautiful, but the Preferred Club benefits were underwhelming. The rooftop observatory pool was the main draw, yet service at the restaurant there was consistently poor. On one occasion, we arrived at 11:02 and were refused breakfast because service ended at 11 (others just arrived before us were seated and served), after already waiting 10 minutes for the elevator. We eventually avoided this area altogether. To be fair, most of the staff outside the rooftop restaurant were kind and attentive, especially the entertainment team. The night shows and activities were excellent. The resort itself is modern and beautiful, with nice pools, rooms, and a small but pleasant beach. That’s what makes this experience so disappointing. Poor hygiene, lack of accountability, and no compensation or meaningful response left us with a very bitter impression. Sad really.
