We spent the Easter Break at Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spa, I would not gush enthusiastically about the stay, it was basic, reasonably clean and acceptable. The money this particular all-inclusive holiday booking cost us was high and it fell very short on expectation.
It quickly became evident that there is a new class of person in the Hyatt world, that of the “Preferred” guest. This was our first venture into a Hyatt Hotel and based on this experience probably the last.
All inclusive normally means you can expect a certain level of service, but not in this case, you were left feeling like a second class citizens and not worthy to mingle with the rich relations.
The room was large enough for our requirements although a little tired, there was a lack of storage for clothing, and the mini bar was definitely not as expected. You are fine if you drink beer, but forget anything else, it’s a battle to get customer services to change out the beer and we only managed it once.
One thing that did surprise me and probably something the hotel would not want mentioned, but we had a rather unpleasant visitation in the bathroom, there appears to be a cockroach problem, which is evident once you notice the powder all-round the room and various traps and dead appendages in the corridors.
Yes, it’s a warm country and you expect a certain amount of this, however, in a five star hotel??? I don’t think so, maybe they are not evident in the "Preferred Rooms".
There are several restaurants within the hotel that you can eat in as all-inclusive, but not during the day time, you have to be a “Preferred” Guest for that, although as all-inclusive you can after 15:00hrs whilst they are open and before they close for the evening rush. So the only option open to you would be the Buffet Style Restaurant, when we could use the other restaurants in the evening, it was very hit and miss as to which of them were open this may have something to do with it being early in the booking season for them, but needless to say the buffet became monotonous towards the end of our seven night stay.
In general the staff were open and friendly, if a little untrained in areas when under pressure and their uniform was rather mish mash, a bit odd!
Would I recommend it, no, it’s not five star, and no, we will not be returning and probably not booking into a other Hyatt Hotel in a hurry, especially if they only want "Preferred" Guests.

Overall a great resort. We went all inclusive + preferred club. I feel preferred club is a must and without it the experience would have lacked. I feel the whole place could do with some maintenance, the bathroom in my room could do with a new toilet seat + redoing the rubber water sealant around the glass. The pools I feel could do with a refresh, they look worn around the edges and could do with new bars / lights / etc. I’m a perfectionist and these are nitpicks, but I feel for the price I paid the whole place should feel more perfect.

Enjoyed a lovely October break at this resort.
Was able to fully relax and unwind in the pleasant surroundings. Resting by the pools and cooling off regularly for a dip.
Inclusive is a must. Was happy with all the food choices, and it was fun to sample all the restaurants. The Italian was by far the best, but the buffet always had a generous selection.
The room kept a comfortable temperature the whole time and was plenty spacious and inviting.
The highlight was absolutely Coco Cafe as an escape during the peak heat for an iced coffee and massive slice of cake.
Would love to go back some day.

Went here with my partner for a week vacation. Thought the resort itself was absolutely beautiful especially as it had recently been renovated. We loved playing padel and sitting out by our swim up pool. The staff were very friendly and helped make our stay really nice. Gorka specifically who worked in a couple of the restaurants was charming and courteous server. I also have nice things to say about the Spa which was an above average. One of the best massages I’ve had in a very long time.
I would definitely stay again and recommend this place. If you stay try to get into the preferred club as the perks and food are worth it.

I have just returned from a wonderful Spring break at The Secrets Hotel in Lanzarote . I had beautiful yoga sessions every morning with Isabel who was a fabulous yoga teacher in a perfect setting. Isabel was amazing her teaching style so engaging she was so kind and considerate, welcoming and she structured a beautiful class. Isabel is a credit to the hotel and I am grateful to her for setting my mornings up so perfectly. I loved the Spa enjoyed the facilities and such great therapists. It was a refreshing break and I will be back. Thank you 😀
