My Husband and I visited the resort for our late honeymoon and were blown away by the service. Before we had even arrived, we were contacted by the incredible Cici who reached out to confirm any dietary requirements (We are both Vegetarians, and i have an allergy to Avocado) as well as sort out holiday extra’s such as room decorations, arrival times etc. Once we had arrived, the team at secrets were very attentive in ensuring we felt right at home. Cici introduced us to the Dietary Team Lead Santiago who would continuously check we were okay with Food options and if the Hotel could accommodate us in any way. We were continuously reassured that all a la carte resturants would have options for us and if we wanted something else the chefs would be able to make this for us. When we visited Himatsu (the Pan Asian restaurant) the Chef’s were able to make Vegetable Gyoza’s, Tofu Pad Thai, Tofu Thai Green Curry and this was only because we had requested it. Overall, the hotel is very attentive in ensuring that any dietary requirements are accounted for, and as strict Vegetarian’s, my husband and I did not go hungry this trip. Our building concierge, Diana was fab in making sure we had plans for each evening, she would continuously check in to ensure we were okay and if there was anything she could do. She also worked with the hotel to make sure our room was decorated to celebrate our honeymoon. The pool staff were incredible in making sure we had sun beds and were not in the sun for too long. The entertainment at this resort is 10/10, all the staff go above and beyond to get you involved. Shout out to Carlos for taking us on the most Magical Turtle experience. Our holiday at secrets would not have been the same if it weren’t for Cici, Diana and Santiago! If you’re visiting the resort, know you are in safe hands, it’s the best resort I’ve visited.

We had a wonderful stay at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya and truly felt well looked after from start to finish. The resort itself is beautiful, with great facilities, delicious dining options and a stunning beach, but what really stood out was the exceptional service. Monica, our concierge, was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout our stay - always on hand and genuinely caring. The information and PDFs shared were extremely useful and made planning and enjoying our time at the resort very easy. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, approachable, and always willing to help, which made a huge difference and made us feel very welcome. Housekeeping was excellent overall and we especially loved the turndown service, such a thoughtful touch. We would absolutely recommend Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya and would love to return in the future.

This was my third Secrets resort, and it completely exceeded expectations. The food was incredible—every restaurant delivered, and the breakfast buffet was honestly one of the best I’ve ever experienced at an all-inclusive. The variety, quality, and freshness were unbelievable. The staff made the stay even better. Ricardo, our concierge, kept us informed and checked in daily. Max from entertainment brought so much energy and made every activity fun. The tall male server at Seaside Grill was amazing—he took my seafood allergy seriously and walked me through the menu so I felt completely comfortable. The preferred club gentleman on the beach was so attentive, helping with towels, getting us fully set up, and even finding chairs when we moved from beach to pool. And Luis, the beach drink runner, never missed a beat. One of the highlights of our entire trip was the turtle sanctuary right next door. You can book the excursion directly through the resort, and it’s run by the Secrets entertainment staff. We saw multiple sea turtles and sting rays, and we learned the visibility is clearest the day after it rains—though even on a regular day, we saw plenty. This experience was the main reason we chose this resort, and it absolutely delivered. We did have two minor service hiccups on our last day. At the pool closest to the beach, I was overlooked several times while tanning, even as the guests next to us were checked on repeatedly. Later at the Decades Show, servers passed us multiple times without stopping, then immediately served a couple who arrived after us. It wasn’t enough to change our overall impression, but it stood out given how great the service was everywhere else. A couple of notes for future guests: they strongly encourage attending a two-hour timeshare presentation in exchange for a $200 spa certificate. Personally, I wouldn’t spend sunny vacation time on this unless you’re actually considering buying. If they offered Hyatt points, that would’ve been more compelling—$200 for an already pricey spa wasn’t worth it for us. Also, Amstar is their preferred on-site company for transfers and excursions, but the prices are very high. I’ll continue using Viator or Get Your Guide since the same tours are available for much less. Even with those points, this resort still earns a full five stars from me. Between the service, the food, the atmosphere, and the unforgettable turtle experience, we’d return in a heartbeat.

The resort seems very well-ran and the staff was on top of things all the time & communicated well/efficiently in regards to the guests and had all of our needs covered in quick fashion. The beach was very nice & clean, the pools looked nice as well (but given how nice the beach was, opted to spend most/all of the water time there..) Special mention to a few personnel: Aaron (From the italian restaurant, Portofino) -- Absolutely great service, humor, and took good care of us. His service was the cherry on top for our delicious meal. Monica & Reyna (Concierges at Building #8) took good care of us with any requests, reservation at Himitsu, etc. Extremely quick and pleasant. Jhovana (Manager on Duty) took prompt care of a small issue we had in the room, while being very pleasant and quick to resolve the issue at the time & followed up with us. Another example of the resort being well/efficiently ran from a staff perspective.

I just spent 4 nights at this resort in November, here is what I can say as a travel advisor: Who this resort is ideal for: couples, group of friends, weddings Weddings: This hotel hosts weddings 25 out of the 30 days in November, which speaks to how popular it is as a venue. The setting is absolutely stunning, and the service and décor are exceptional. It’s a fantastic option for both small and large groups looking for a beautiful and well-organized destination wedding experience. First Impressions: The lobby of this hotel is impressive, and from the moment you arrive the staff make sure you’re well taken care of. The check-in process was smooth. I arrived early, so they walked me to the Preferred Lounge to wait comfortably. The lounge has its own bar, plenty of snacks, and really good food. I was able to work from there for about an hour while my room was being prepared, which made the wait feel effortless. Room Experience: I stayed in Building 4, located in a very quiet area of the property, absolutely no noise. My suite had a partial ocean view and a king bed. The room was comfortable and well-equipped, with a robe, hair dryer, slippers, snacks, and two jacuzzis (one in the bathroom and another on the balcony). One of the best features of the hotel is that all rooms include a secret box. This is ideal for guests who are particular about smells or don’t like direct room service interactions. You simply place used dishes in the box, and staff can collect them from a small exterior door without knocking or entering the room. It’s extremely convenient and keeps the room feeling tidy and private. Food & Beverage: The food was excellent. I had the chance to try the French restaurant, which was outstanding, as well as the pizza bar, the buffet breakfast, and the seafood barbecue buffet. Everything I sampled was high quality and consistently well prepared. Service: This hotel is currently ranked #1 on Tripadvisor, and the level of service truly reflects that. I completely understand why clients return year after year. Upon arrival, you’re assigned two concierges dedicated to your building, available daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They’re always present, incredibly attentive, and ready to assist with any questions or requests, which adds a strong sense of personalized care throughout the stay. Another highlight is the hotel’s entertainment team, there’s truly no way to be bored here. I joined several activities, including the kayak tour, the bicycle tour to Akumal town, the guacamole class, the snorkeling tour, and I even enjoyed beachside massages. The variety and quality of activities make the experience feel fun and immersive. Facilities & Amenities: The facilities are excellent. Even though the hotel was at 95% occupancy during my stay, it never felt crowded. The property is large and well laid out, with distinct areas for different preferences. There’s a quiet pool where no noise is allowed, perfect for guests who want to relax and another pool near the beach where you’ll find groups of friends enjoying the atmosphere and the cocktail bar. Considerations: This is an excellent hotel overall, but I wouldn’t position it for true luxury clients. While the facilities and service are outstanding, the room décor doesn’t align with a luxury aesthetic, so it may not meet the expectations of high-end travellers. Location: Right in the middle between the Cancun Airport and Tulum Airport. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to clients and to anyone looking for a comfortable stay, great food, and a beautiful beach with clear water.
