4 stars – Beautiful resort, hardworking staff, but too many upsells. We’ve stayed at 3 Secrets Resorts, and Secrets Akumal is by far the most beautiful — lush, jungle-like grounds with amazing wildlife (iguanas, coatis, even raccoons!). The quiet pool was a highlight: serene, shaded, with rafts and calming music. The staff work incredibly hard and were so kind. Shoutout to Karina, our building butler! Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We also had an emergency and had to leave early, and the staff moved mountains to help us — we are so grateful. A few frustrations: The timeshare push started the moment we arrived and felt aggressive. We were approached multiple times about sales, spa services, and events — even when our DND sign was on. The WhatsApp messages and calls were too much. The beach wasn’t relaxing due to persistent vendors pushing snorkeling tours. The buffet was just okay, but the restaurants were very nice, and the room service menu on the app needs some improvements and more variety for room service. Overall, the beauty of the resorts, and kindness of the staff earn it a good review, but the constant upselling really took away from the relaxation. Hoping Hyatt takes this feedback seriously as we love secrets and want to return but we are hesitant due to the aggressive upselling.

Absolutely beautiful resort with all of the amenities you could ask for. Excellent spa service. The attention to detail across every section of the resort is impeccable. José at the Seaside Grill was our waiter at breakfast each morning and he was phenomenal! Each building has a dedicated concierge that you can text with any requests or questions. The food was great for an all-inclusive. The beach and pools were amazing. My minor complaint was the amount of sargassum at the beach, but they do work to clear it daily. This resort exceeded my expectations and I hope to be back again soon!

My recent stay at this resort was absolutely phenomenal and has easily become one of my top favorites in the Secrets chain. From the moment we arrived, we were treated to exceptional service from every single member of the staff. Everyone we encountered was amazing and genuinely kind, which made the entire experience feel special and welcoming. The service here is truly top-notch. It's clear that the team goes above and beyond to ensure every guest is well cared for. And let's talk about the food! It was so delicious, offering a fantastic variety of culinary delights. Every meal was a highlight and something to look forward to. A huge thank you to all the workers for their incredible kindness and dedication. Their hard work did not go unnoticed and is the main reason our trip was so wonderful. I can't recommend this resort enough—you will not be disappointed!

My husband and I visited Secrets Akumal earlier this month for a 4 night stay. We were blown away! This was the 3rd Secrets that we have stayed at over the years and it was the best by far. The resort grounds are lush and gorgeous, the ambience of each of the three pools was perfect to match our mood for the day (party/active, relaxed but lively, and calm/tranquil). The beach was not good for swimming, but we good to snorkel and see sea turtles and other marine life which more than made up for it. All of the staff at the resort are excellent. We especially appreciated Ana, Jesus, and Velvet that did service at the pools while we were there. The entertainment team was fun and I enjoyed Spanish lessons with Alan. The food was also very good. Great variety of restaurants and good options at the buffets. I don’t think the resort was at capacity, so we never had an issue with wait times to get into the restaurants, but this could be different if the result was full.

My wife and I just returned from our second stay at Secrets Akumal, and it was nothing short of incredible! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make sure our trip was memorable. Ana, who looked after us at the Bali beds, was absolutely amazing, so attentive and kind. Guillermo at Himitsu delivered the best service we’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. Gina, our concierge, checked in with us daily to make sure we had everything we needed, and her care made such a difference. Ricardo at the beach was fantastic, he not only provided excellent service but also remembered our names throughout our entire stay, which made us feel truly valued. The entertainment team, especially Alejandro and Max, kept us and our new friends laughing, engaged, and entertained the whole trip. A special thank you as well to Cesar Montoya for going above and beyond to make sure our return visit was extra memorable. Secrets Akumal has gained guests for life! We can’t wait to come back again!
