DO NOT STAY HERE. There is absolutely nothing about this place that is 5 star. The view is the only saving grace of this hotel, and it seems that they rely on that as the selling point. We stayed one night and left, forgoing the remaining 5 nights of our stay. There is a STRICT non-refundable policy, there is no movement from them for any reason. It was still worth it for us to leave. My husband and I booked a villa with a pool for our honeymoon. Typically at 5 star resorts, you are taken to your room privately and shown the amenities, pool controls, etc. There was a group check in that had warm drinks and stale cookies. We were then left at the top of the stairs to the villa with no assistance. Our villa was pitch black (no lights on or curtains open) when we walked in and the air conditioning wasn’t on. It was absolutely sweltering. Next, there were geckos in our room and there were feces around the room, including on the white couch and chairs, and on the bedspread. We tried to some of address these issues with the front desk. The response was for housekeeping to bring more towels and to clean the room again while we were at dinner. When we got back, there were more towels but nothing had been cleaned. I also need to mention that we risked leaving our villa unlocked during dinner to keep the air conditioning on, as had been there for 2 hours prior and the rooms were still at 74 degrees (Fahrenheit). The front desk couldn’t find the second key at first because it had not been logged properly from the prior stay. We worked with a a travel agent, who also attempted to address the issues with the hotel. He didn’t receive the courtesy of a response. When we told the front desk we were leaving, the only response was that our visit was non refundable. There was no concern about why we were leaving (my husband laid it out for them before we left) or any attempt to make it right for us. They did provide us with transportation to our new hotel, the Anantara. We stayed with Anantara in Chiang Mai, and we wished we started with them on Koh Yao Yai. They offer a true 5 star experience, with a personalized check in, trays included an actual cold drink, small treat, and cold towel upon arrival. If you are considering your options GO TO ANANTARA. Santhiya should be ashamed to call themselves a 5 star hotel. The facility, staff, food, and overall atmosphere is nothing close to 5 star. It’s a low budget hotel masquerading as a luxury resort. Avoid at all costs if you are looking for a 5 star experience.
Daivya Kotalawela
We visited at the start of December for 3 nights. Stunning room, stunning location. This was our relaxing higher end resort to end our Thailand trip and it was well worth it. The hotel food and drink prices are ludicrously expensive though and with that price you would expect the quality to be top notch. Don’t get me wrong everything was yummy but nothing on the menu blew me away to justify the majority of the price points. There are other places you can walk to that are 10 mins away which we found out on our last night simply coz we got a little bored of the hotel dinner menus. Both pools are stunning, the beach is stunning. Staff were polite and friendly. We did one of the free yoga sessions which was fun. We tried out the spa and both of us got one of their treatment packages which was again lovely, worth the price- debatable. One thing you do have to keep in mind is the hotel is structured in a way that you need to get one of their buggy’s to drive you around the hotel. For us, this was quick and convenient- we were never waiting for a cart to pick us up. We did organise a transfer from Krabi to the island privately and then got the hotel to organise a driver from the dock to the hotel. On the way out we got the hotel to organise the transport to Phuket airport. To be honest this was pricy but worth it in our opinion just for the connivence factor. Honestly an overall 5 star stay for us.

It would be hard to find a better hotel than Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa. We stayed for four nights and immediately regretted not booking longer. The staff were exceptional, the spa was incredible, and the overall atmosphere was wonderfully relaxing. Even though the restaurants were quieter in the evenings, the food was consistently excellent. We also never waited more than five minutes for a shuttle, which made getting around effortless. We can’t wait to go back!

Great family stay. We visited with our two kids and had a very nice experience. The staff were extremely kind, attentive and always ready to help with a smile. They were patient with the children, quick to respond to any request, and really made us feel welcome and comfortable throughout the stay. The wooden rooms were beautiful with a great view, and there are two pools where kids can really enjoy their time. Breakfast and restaurants were decent around seven out of ten. I personally did not like the beef dishes but there are many other options. I would suggest the restaurant reconsider the beef source. The hotel offers small group boat trips to nearby islands which feels much more comfortable for families. There is also a hotel photo session service that we tried but I would not recommend it. Overall a great place for a relaxing family

Absolutely magical stay! I can’t understand the negative reviews! We stayed 3 nights at Santhiya Koh Yao Yai and honestly had an amazing time. The resort is stunning, the beach is beautiful, and the pools are perfect for relaxing. The food was excellent and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Everything felt well organized, peaceful, and simply special. We’re leaving today and already wish we could stay longer. Would definitely come back! 🙏💛
