Very nice experience. We stayed 5 days in this resort and we could really say we had the feeling of being at home. The staff is very lovely and social, they really treated us nice. The rooms are comfortable and quiet during the night. Lovely view from the pool at the Tamarin mountain and Le Morne. Enough activities to be busy. You have a pool, darts game, petanque and water sports. I'm not a big fan of buffets but here it was every evening another cuisine and the food was so good!!! Sunsets here are breath taking... Loved this place and feeling sad to leave today. Will definitely come back in the future! Thank you for everything. Best regards and greetings from Belgium. Nicolas

Lovely Stay Near Flic-en-Flac — Almost Perfect! We stayed for almost one week near Flic-en-Flac and had a really lovely experience overall. The hotel itself is beautiful, and we truly felt at home — the staff were friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. We had half board, and the dinner buffet was consistently excellent every evening. We also booked a tour to Chamarel through the hotel and had a fantastic guide and driver. For Port Louis, we decided to drive ourselves, which turned out to be the most flexible option. The swimming pool and relaxation areas were perfect for unwinding, and lunches at the restaurant were very good. There is also great snorkeling nearby; we simply booked and joined the boat, which was very easy. A few areas could be improved: breakfast felt a bit underwhelming compared to the outstanding dinners — the quality of juices and breads could be higher, and we would have appreciated a few more local options. We also noticed a considerable number of small bugs in our room, despite the twice-daily cleaning service. Overall, we would still rate this as a strong 5-star stay with room for some improvements. We enjoyed our time and would return.

We stayed at Sands Suites in Mauritius for our honeymoon, and it was absolutely incredible. The resort is in the perfect location — the views are unreal, the beach is stunning, and there were always plenty of lounge chairs available. The towel service was super convenient, and the pool area was gorgeous! We did have an issue with our first room the first night and weren’t happy with it, but the way the staff handled it made all the difference. The manager, Sonny (Sunny) personally met with us, apologized, and upgraded us to a beautiful new room. He even arranged a private romantic dinner on the beach as a gesture, which was such a special touch and truly made us feel valued. Our new room was spacious, quiet, and had the most beautiful views — plus, it was decorated for our honeymoon, which made it extra special. The food throughout our stay was great (and I’m super picky!). The breakfast buffet was my favorite, and I loved how they changed the dinner theme each night. We also really enjoyed meals at Pink Peppercorn and Dolphin Bar. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, accommodating, and always willing to help. I even got a massage at their sister property, Maradiva, and it was heavenly! Overall, once our room was switched, our experience was pure perfection. We would absolutely stay here again — next time, we’ll just try a different room category from the start.

Unfortunately, we experienced a detached and uninvolved attitude from the staff. There was constant, intrusive offering of paid food and drinks, and repeated questions such as “How are you?” and “Is everything okay?” from different staff members throughout the day, which became exhausting rather than attentive. We were assigned a room very close to the main bar. When I politely asked about evening noise and soundproofing, I was told, “Everything will be fine.” It was not — the noise was unbearable, as if speakers were inside the room. We did not request a room change only because we left earlier than planned. The food was the decisive factor. The buffet quality was extremely low — a large selection, but nothing worth eating. During breakfast, a giant cockroach was running across the food and surfaces at the pancake/omelet station. After it was removed, the surfaces were not cleaned. Birds were constantly present in the buffet area, including on the food and sauces. Flies were everywhere — during meals, around the pool, and on the beach — making it impossible to relax or dine comfortably. Overall, the hotel is significantly overpriced compared to the quality and level of service provided.

Location & Setting The resort sits at the end of Flic en Flac beach, surrounded by beautifully maintained tropical gardens. The pool and soft sandy beach are just a few steps away, with serene views across to Le Morne and Tamarin Bay that create a peaceful setting. Service & Atmosphere The entire team sets this place apart. Every member of staff we met was warm, attentive, and genuinely eager to make our stay special, always greeting us with a smile. Accommodation The rooms were well kept and serviced twice a day. Thoughtful touches, such as turn-down service with chocolates and handwritten notes, made the experience feel special. The bed was large and comfortable, with a separate bathroom and dressing room. To offer a truly five-star feel, the bathrooms would benefit from some modernisation. The shower area in our room felt a little tired, and water leaked through the door seals. It wasn’t enough to complain about, but it is worth noting as an area for improvement. Dining The main restaurant was a real highlight, with a changing menu each evening. The food was consistently varied, plentiful, and delicious. Every member of the restaurant team was superb: efficient, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile. A special thank you to Sandy, Karan, Diya, and Chef Jude, who deserve particular mention for their friendliness and attentive service. Our package was half board, and we would have appreciated the flexibility to swap lunch and dinner on some days so we could experience dining outside the resort. Although the office manager, Krishna, was very pleasant, this flexibility was not permitted – which was a shame, as many resorts do allow this. Despite this initial disappointment, the care and service from the restaurant team more than made up for it. As a vegetarian family, we initially found the buffet options somewhat limited. However, Chef Jude kindly offered to prepare personalised three-course meals for us each evening if we let him know our preferences in the morning. Not only were we given freshly prepared meals, but we were also encouraged to enjoy anything from the buffet. This thoughtful gesture completely transformed our dining experience and removed any earlier disappointment. The dinner dress code requires men to wear long trousers. Fortunately, I had seen this mentioned in a YouTube review before travelling and packed accordingly. I do not recall seeing this clearly highlighted on the hotel’s website, and without prior knowledge, I may have needed to purchase suitable clothing during the stay. Spa & Wellness The resort facilities are of a high standard, with several complimentary activities available, including kayaking, water-skiing, tennis, and snorkelling. Spa treatments do need to be booked well in advance, as slots fill up quickly. We were kindly offered the option to use the spa at their sister resort, Maradiva, just a few minutes’ walk along the coastal road, which was an excellent alternative and also of a very high standard. Front of House The reception team were outstanding. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their warmth and efficiency made our stay run seamlessly. Final Thoughts We had a wonderful stay at Sands Suites Resort & Spa, which more than lived up to its name. The hospitality and service from the entire team were exceptional. Overall, it exceeded our expectations and left us with truly memorable experiences. Thank you to everyone at Sands Suites Resort & Spa for making our stay so pleasant and memorable. P.S. We’re still patiently waiting for our photo with Santa on the beach to be emailed 😉
