I recently stayed at Salmakis Resort & Spa in Bodrum and overall had a good experience. The hotel is in a beautiful location, with a nice private beach and stunning views of the bay. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and most have lovely sea views. The pool area is large and relaxing, and the bar serves great cocktails — definitely one of the highlights of the stay. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is calm and absolutely pleasant. That said, there are a few downsides. The Wi-Fi isn’t strong, especially in the rooms, which can be frustrating if you need to stay connected. Also, the walk from the beach back to the rooms can feel quite long and uphill, especially if you’re staying on the third or fourth floor. As for the food, it’s fine but could be a bit more flavorful. the snack bar by the pool actually has tastier options than the main restaurant. Despite these, Salmakis is a great place to relax, enjoy the sea, and have a comfortable stay. With slightly better Wi-Fi and food, it would be perfect!!

This was not an easy review. The holiday started badly with very unclean and run down room but after complaining the second room we got was OK. Overall we ended up having a very nice stay. The staff were excellent and the location whilst out of town it was excellently serviced by a lovely water bus that run from early in the morning till very late at night and only took 10 minutes to the center of Bodrum. The food was decent but I think could be improved. The main point to note is the hotel is quite dated. I thought there were enough staff around but I think management should be more on top of them. Often you see the staff chit-chating whilst areas need to be cleaned or tables remain too long before being cleared.

Do not stay here. This resort was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever had while traveling. The staff was consistently rude, unhelpful, and made us feel like we were a burden whenever we raised legitimate concerns. The room was hot, the AC did not work, and overall cleanliness was poor. For a place claiming to be a “5-star resort,” the conditions were unacceptable. The shower wasn’t working when we arrived, and instead of addressing the issue quickly, staff treated it like it was our fault. When we asked about dining options, they insisted there were none outside the hotel—which was untrue. We walked less than five minutes and found a fantastic restaurant just up the hill. The entire hotel felt dark, outdated, and uninviting. The pool was dirty, with floating pads and even bandages, which was extremely concerning. Despite leaving after only 10 hours, we were refused any kind of refund. The glowing reviews here are very misleading, and I wish I had paid closer attention to more recent ones. Save yourself the disappointment and stay elsewhere.

Some people prefer to nit pick and focus on the negative points, I prefer to focus on the amazing location, extremely friendly and helpful staff from whom the UK service industry could learn so much . Food is plentiful and fresh with variety. It's a huge resort with beautiful flower beds and impressive vaulted ceilings in the main building. Some say it's dated. I can see that point of view but it's got some character with traditional Turkish style and beautiful paintings on the ceilings. Walking distance to Bodrum center plus water taxi for £3 Great experience, nice pool

We're here now. I'll add to this review later but it's clear that reviews depend on how much people have paid. If you've got a bargain this is a great place, but if you've paid a lot for your budget it's really poor. For us, it's really poor. The food is bad. Poor quality and lots of it reheated. Onion rings today couldn't be cut with a knife, same with breaded chicken. White wine? They don't even bother to put it in the fridge so that you don't ask for more. Cost-cutting, rather than quality control, is clearly the main aim of management. And the WiFi is so poor it's a joke amongst clients. Turkish visitors just stick to data and laugh at the rest of us for needing to struggle with the WiFi! *************** As promised, following our departure I can update this. Quality did not improve. So often the heated food trays were empty and so choice was significantly limited. I've posted a photo of four of the heated trays in the seating area, all of them were empty. The fries in the snack bar were cold almost all week. It was pointed out to staff that the heating element was broken, but we did not notice it being fixed. No guest was taking the cold fries so again this is just a cost saving trick. Quality of fruit was poor (skin blemishes, etc.) so lots of guests taking a look and walking away. Toilets near the pool were filthy often with no toilet paper or towels (photo). Evidence of last clean as posted on the wall (photo) was a month earlier...! The air con in our room was largely ineffective, the fridge was totally ineffective, the shower controls did not work properly. Some staff were lovely, did all they could to help. Many staff though just did the basics. Also, staff stuck to their roles rigidly, which meant that serving staff would stand by as tissues and empty bottles etc. rolled across the floor of the restaurant, waiting for the cleaning staff to clean things. Often waiting staff were talking on their mobiles so that we couldn't get their attention. We sometimes just went to the pool bar for drinks rather than wait to be served. This is a hotel which is either failing and will go out of business soon, or the owners are taking all the money out of it that they can. Standards will continue to fall without a change.
