It's unfortunate, the grounds and facilities are very nice, the rooms are spacious and mostly up to date, but the service is 3rd world. Unless you are will to accept ineptitude at every level, I suggest going somewhere else. Bars not properly stocked even with the ingredients of the standard cocktails, being told to go to the front desk to request an additional towel card when you want a towel to lie on and another to dry off, staff that does not write down orders and consistently brings the wrong items, taking hand towels and never replacing them, a coffee bar that doesn't open until 10am but you can't get coffee or tea to go!, dart board with 1 dart, pool table missing two balls, the list goes on. Combine this with a beach where you will be constantly harassed by local peddlers, I won't be back.

I had a lovely stay at this hotel in Zanzibar. The staff are welcoming, the location is beautiful, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Everything was clean and well-maintained. My only small suggestion would be to improve the quality of the toilet paper. Otherwise, everything was excellent!

Great all inclusive! They have a variety of activities, good entertainment and food. In particular the omelette for breakfast at the buffet restaurant and the chicken wrap at the bar closest to the beach. The cliff had a nice seafood chowder. There are unlimited drinks, except for those with imported spirits that have an extra cost.

Billed as a 5 star property—Its not even close. Dirty rooms, mold, rust in bathrooms and sinks. Fire detectors chirping with low battery warnings. Staff with very poor English skills—No concierge to assist in setting up excursions. One female in our party was approached repeatedly by one of the security team (Maasai). She did not feel safe. On this property. On a positive note the food was good for an all inclusive resort. All in all I would not recommend.

We recently had the pleasure of spending our honeymoon at the Royal Zanzibar Beach Resort, and it exceeded every expectation we had. From the breathtaking natural beauty of the location to the exceptional hospitality, every aspect of our stay made it an unforgettable experience. What truly stood out was the incredible team who made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for from the moment we arrived. Phillip, the Concierge, was outstanding. He ensured that every part of our stay ran smoothly, from helping us plan memorable activities to offering thoughtful, practical advice that made our time in Zanzibar even more special. His professionalism and integrity were remarkable he never made us feel like just another tourist couple. In fact, on his day off, he came to see us personally and gifted my wife and me a beautiful bracelet an unexpected and incredibly kind gesture that truly touched us. It’s rare to come across someone so genuinely passionate about what they do. Nitin, the Bar Manager, also made a huge impact. His warm energy and passion for hospitality created a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere at the bar. He took the time to get to know our preferences and ensured we were always well taken care of. Every drink came with a smile and a great conversation. We were especially impressed by Chef Bhakti, whose culinary skill and kindness stood out during our stay. He went out of his way to organise a special meal for six of us in celebration of a new friend’s 50th birthday a truly thoughtful gesture. The variety, flavour, and presentation of the food were consistently excellent, and his attention to detail made the birthday celebration feel incredibly special. Wanda and Fatima from Customer Relations also played a key role in making our experience feel so personal. They checked in with us regularly with warm smiles and genuine interest in how we were enjoying ourselves. Their attentiveness led to a room upgrade to a higher specification at a very reasonable rate, along with some lovely honeymoon touches that added just the right amount of romance to our stay. Lastly, we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Christina at the Beach Bar. Her friendly, attentive service made every beachside moment feel relaxed and cared for. Her smile and laugh were truly contagious she’s a beautiful person inside and out, and her presence added so much joy to our days in the sun. The resort itself is absolutely stunning immaculately kept grounds, beautiful pools, and a beach that looks like something out of a postcard. But more than anything, it was the people who made this trip so memorable. Their warmth, attention to detail, and genuine care elevated our stay in every way. We feel incredibly fortunate to have celebrated such a meaningful occasion in such a special place. Our honeymoon at Royal Zanzibar Beach Resort will forever hold a place in our hearts, and we hope to return in the not-so-distant future. We would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a romantic, relaxing, and wonderfully hosted getaway.
