Lively, busy resort with plenty of bars, varied European, Asian etc restaurants and cafes as well as local offerings including our favourites sangria and padron peppers. Hotel Princesa Yaiza was fabulous! We upgraded to a room on 6th floor for a magnificent sea view - well worth it for our second week. Our rooms - a suite for the first week and junior suite for the second, were clean, with very comfortable, huge, beds. We thoroughly enjoyed playing padel for free for the first time on the court adjacent to the hotel. We were half-board and the buffet food was outstanding, in particular the salads and canapes at dinner and giant fresh prawns every night. The hotel staff were terrific, nothing was too much trouble and they were all friendly, cheerful and professional.

We stayed at Princesa Yaiza over Christmas with our three children, all aged seven and under, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The hotel strikes the perfect balance between luxury and being truly family-friendly, which is not easy to achieve. The breakfast buffet was outstanding; easily one of the best we’ve experienced. There was every food imaginable, making mornings a real highlight for both adults and children. What truly sets Princesa Yaiza apart, though, is the guest experience and animation team. The kids’ club staff were phenomenal: incredibly patient, joyful, and genuinely kind. Our children felt completely at ease and excited to spend time there. The kids’ club itself is spacious, modern, spotless, and very well designed. Christmas was handled with real magic and care. Stockings were delivered on Christmas Eve, and Santa Claus himself visited on Christmas Day with gifts for all the children. The hotel’s location is also ideal, with immediate proximity to the beach, making everything feel easy and relaxed. Overall, Princesa Yaiza is very much worth the price. It’s a hotel that clearly invests in its guests and delivers an exceptional family holiday experience. We would happily return.

We wanted to take a moment to share how wonderful our experience has been with the animation team during our stay. In particular, we would like to highlight Clara. The dedication she brought to the mini disco, and the genuine care and attentiveness she showed toward our children, truly stood out. She clearly has a natural gift and real passion for working with kids, and it shows in every interaction. Our children felt seen, included, and happy—and as parents, that makes a huge difference. Please do pass on our sincere thanks to her and to the wider animation team for the energy, warmth, and professionalism they bring every day. With thanks and appreciation.

After years of adventurous travel, holidays now look a little different for us. With two young children in tow, our priorities have shifted firmly towards relaxation, sunshine, and good children’s entertainment. After a winter sun trip to Tenerife, I wanted somewhere with winter sun but with more premium facilities for little ones. Tiny Travel Ship recommended Princess Yaiza, and having visited several Ikos resorts (our personal gold standard), expectations from the very similar description were high. We travelled with a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay, but there was one standout issue that really affected our experience. The good points • The room: We stayed in a family suite which was spacious and well designed, with a huge main bed and a proper bath — ideal with young children. The balcony was large (even without a view), and the room felt completely safe for a crawling baby. • Kids’ club staff: Genuinely lovely. Elena, Clara, Andrea, and the wider team were kind, patient and caring. However some drawbacks of the kids club setup. • Evening entertainment: The nightly disco was a real highlight and something our 4-year-old looked forward to every evening. • Location: Excellent. We chose bed and breakfast and had a wide range of restaurants within a 5–20 minute walk. • Breakfast: Plentiful, varied and enjoyed by both adults and children. • Airport distance: Around 30 minutes, which is ideal with little ones. • Special touches: The Three Kings Day celebration was fantastic and included presents for all children. Thoughtful luxury details like Valrhona chocolate at turndown and Beurre d’Isigny butter at breakfast were a lovely touch. The main issue • The pools: Unfortunately, this was the biggest downside of the stay. The pools were simply not heated warmly enough — and this was especially noticeable in the children’s pools. Even though they are technically heated, they were still too cold for comfortable or extended use, which is disappointing when travelling with young children and choosing a resort largely for its pool facilities. Other points to note • Communication: Despite confirming in advance that we needed a cot, high chair and toddler bed guard, none were in the room on arrival. It took three calls before everything arrived. • included provisions inconsistency: There was confusion around how much water was provided daily. Guest Relations (thank you Victoria and Maria) did resolve this, but at one point we were charged for an “extra” bottle via room service. • Kids’ areas: While soft play was available, I personally wouldn’t have felt comfortable leaving my children there — it felt more like a space where a staff member was ensuring that none of the many children attempting to escape actually managed to do so. Kids club: while it’s great that you can stay with your children, again most days I would not have felt comfortable leaving them. The staff to children ratio varied wildly; as did the attentiveness of the staff. I saw one parent absentmindedly walk out the gate and allow someone else’s child to “escape” - the teacher had so many children they did not even notice and I intervened. As there is a pool in the area, there should always be a minimum number of two staff if children are using both spaces. Many days there was just one. Baby room: nicknamed by other parents as “the baby dungeon” - a dark space and though the teachers seemed lovely, a 1:6 ratio with such small children was not something I felt comfortable with. Would we come back? Yes — but with warmer pools, especially in the children’s areas, it would be a much easier yes. They also need to better staff their children’s clubs. Princess Yaiza isn’t Ikos, but it also isn’t priced like Ikos. With properly heated pools and a bit more consistency in communication, it could be an excellent winter sun option for families with young children.

This is probably the best hotel we have stayed in in any of the Canary Islands. The check in was quick and pleasant and we got a high suite with a pool view which we requested. They made my wife’s birthday special by leaving a card, banner and lovely cake in the room. Everything about the hotel and overall experience was exceptional. Staff were polite, friendly and hard working. The hotel is spotless throughout and in an excellent position to explore the whole resort. We will definitely return asap.
