I stayed at this resort in September, and despite my initial hesitation (since it was my first time here), I had an amazing time. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive. The resort itself was spotlessly clean, and while I did notice some seaweed on the beach, I understand it’s just a part of nature. The food was outstanding, with so many options to choose from. I loved how each restaurant offered a romantic and private atmosphere for dinner. The room I stayed in was very private, with a swim-out pool that made my vacation incredibly relaxing. Overall, my experience was fantastic, and I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful getaway.

I’d say that for a five star resort and Deluxe Room Service as advertised the reality was different. Not impressed with de room service at all: floor not cleaned daily, towels not changed daily, bedding not changed at all (I know that because there was a rust-like spot on the sheet which I saw every day). Beach towel exchange once a day or through Concierge. Toiletries replenished depending on the cleaning team. The buffet was good, lot of food to choose from, staff was friendly everywhere and the entertainment was lively. Useful idea to offer a tote with the resort logo. Would I recommend the resort to friends? Maybe.

Great Stay at Princess Yucatan
We recently enjoyed a stay at Princess Yucatan in Playa del Carmen and had a wonderful time overall. The room size was impressive, providing us with plenty of space to relax. The beautifully maintained territory and easy access to the beach were highlights of our trip. We also thoroughly enjoyed the performances, shows, and live bands throughout our stay, which added a vibrant atmosphere to the resort.
A special shoutout to Israel from the staff, who made our experience even more memorable with his humor and friendly demeanor. He even made us laugh by remembering my surname, which was a delightful personal touch. The overall service from the staff was outstanding—everyone was incredibly friendly and polite.
We did have a few minor critiques. While the food was decent, we felt it could have been better, as some meals didn’t quite meet our expectations. We also weren’t aware of the dress code for the restaurants and regretted not bringing trousers instead of just denim shorts. This is something future guests should keep in mind.
On a lighter note, we loved the local wildlife, particularly the friendly lizards and the adorable Mexican raccoons! It added a unique charm to our stay.
The rooms were a bit outdated, but they were comfortable and well-kept. We particularly appreciated being placed in a quiet block of the resort, which allowed us to relax peacefully.
Overall, we had a nice time at Princess Yucatan and would recommend it for anyone looking for a friendly and enjoyable vacation in Playa del Carmen!

We have been to this resort a couple times, we always stay in a swim up room, on the party pool! There is such great energy and entertainment. All
Of the restaurants were great, out favorites are the Italian and the steakhouse! I love the wildlife that I saw every night . We met some really amazing people each time we stayed.

I’ll start by saying, we come to Mexico probably twice a year and like to experiment with different resorts. We have high expectations based on what we pay, but we also know where to give grace. For context, we are a 30-something year old couple from Canada with no kids.
I’ll start with the resort as a whole. It’s fine. If you like lots of jungle and Mexican ambiance like I do - this is not the place for you. It’s very modern and concrete with very few outdoor areas to eat. I found it to be quite small, although luckily you have access to the sister resort next door which is much more tropical and Mexican vibes. We adore Mexico and I was disappointed that I didn’t feel like I was in Mexico.
We had a swim-out room and were put in building 1, which is the furthest building from everything. Can be good or bad depending on what you want. Personally, the swim up rooms at the sister resort looked WAY nicer than these ones. It almost feels like you’re staying at a condo complex with no charm.
The food - I’m amazed at all the good food reviews. I would go as far to say one or the worst selections we’ve experienced. From raw pork chops, to lack of breakfast and lunch options. I searched everywhere for a taco - which was impossible to find. We lived off of nachos and guacamole. I love Mexican food and I just didn’t taste anything that was good. We ended up taking a taxi into playa most nights for dinner.
The rooms were fine. The bed needs replacing as it sags in the middle. The showers whole spacious, needs new shower heads. The water sort of gushes out because the heads are so eroded. Rooms lack character but are clean and spacious. They charge a re-stocking fee for the rooms, which is unheard of and a bit of a scam… was surprised to see that. We also experienced a water leak from the ceiling in our bathroom… it happened for about 24 hours and then stopped but still not great. The cleaning staff come by a few times but if you request cleaning after 3pm, they will tell you that they have left for the day.
The staff were very kind. Although we were disappointed with the resort as a whole, I cannot fault the staff - they were great.
