I was in this hotel for a week, in the main building with an ocean view. We were two, and we both loved it. Amazing views from everywhere, the restaurant the room and the swimming pool. The breakfast was great and the waiters are very helpful and busy with making sure all going smoothly, also a good variety of foods and drinks that change slightly every day. Service just had one point of improvement, hence the 4 stars, which was the very hard to hear receptionist to the breakfast, she only spoke English and was not very approachable/active, at least compared to everyone else who was very active, approachable and helpful. Will definitely return another year.

We usually stay in 5★ hotels and came to Pestana Vila Lido after another 5★ stay, so expectations were higher. Overall, the hotel feels a bit unbalanced. The building and interiors are clearly dated. While the rooms are tidy, the bathroom showed wear (cracked sink, old rusty bin, some mold in the shower). Sound insulation is poor — you can hear neighbors, hallway noise, and even the gym early in the morning. The breakfast area also looks very outdated. Food quality is average. Breakfast is acceptable, but dinner was disappointing, and we preferred eating outside the hotel. Service is excellent. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and professional, and cleaning was good. Location is a big plus: oceanfront with direct access to the water, a nice pool area with sea views, and a supermarket right across the street. Overall, we were satisfied. You get what you pay for, and for the price it’s fair. If you’re looking for a true 5★ luxury experience, nearby hotels offer that — at a much higher cost.

This is rated a five star hotel. I respectfully disagree. Its priced like a four. Its service rooms and food os also a solid four at best. Rooms are very dated. Ours smelled musty. Breakfast was standard buffet and if it's rain be prepared to wait 15 mins for entry. The pool was avrage but jumping into the ocean was fun. Think of it as a four star hotel and you will be very happy for the price.

I had a good stay at this hotel. The rooms were very clean and the views were outstanding. The breakfast was brilliant. I had half board. For a buffet I suppose it wasn’t bad. I didn’t get food poisoning 😂 but I def wouldn’t choose again. I think my only grumble although the location is stunning it is quite far from the centre of Funchal. I still gave 5* as the location is stunning in its own right.

We had an amazing and relaxing stay at this hotel in Madeira and couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. The amenities were top-notch, and the service was truly impeccable—staff were attentive, friendly, and always willing to help. A special mention to Lizbeth at the breakfast buffet, who greeted everyone by name each morning and even remembered birthdays to offer a warm “Happy Birthday.” The food selection at breakfast was excellent, with plenty of variety to start the day. The front desk staff were also very helpful, and the manager went above and beyond to assist us in resolving an issue with a tour company. Our room was spotless throughout our stay, thanks to the excellent housekeeping team, and the balcony offered spectacular views that made every morning and evening feel special. The pool area was especially comfortable and clean, with plenty of loungers and umbrellas, making it easy to relax at any time of day. Being able to swim directly in the ocean by going down the stairs was another highlight that made the stay unforgettable. Overall, everything about our time here was wonderful, and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madeira.
