I stayed at Park Hyatt Zanzibar and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The location is perfect — right in the heart of Stone Town and directly on the beach, making it ideal for exploring the city and enjoying breathtaking ocean views. I highly recommend booking the ocean view room — waking up to the sound of the waves and that stunning view every morning is simply magical. The staff were all very kind and attentive, but a special thanks goes to Dennis, the hotel manager, for his warm hospitality and exceptional care throughout our stay. He made sure everything was perfect. The food was excellent, the cleanliness top-notch, and the overall atmosphere luxurious yet relaxing. If I ever return to Zanzibar, I will definitely stay here again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

First class hotel, as you would expect at a Park Hyatt. Rooms were roomy and ours had an ocean view. Bathroom was plenty big for two people to both use. Pool area very clean and well stocked with towels. Outdoor dining comfortable, chose either sunny or shaded tables. Breakfast buffet had good assortment including some local fare.

The Park Hyatt Zanzibar is perfectly located in Stone Town and has beautiful views of the sunset and the local life. The hotel has a beautiful historic story and the interior decorations are done to reflect that. The reception we received when arriving at the hotel from the gentlemen at the entrance was welcoming and warm. The concierge gave us a tour of the hotel grounds and then brought as to our spacious and well appointed room. He made us feel very special and welcome. The pool is overlooking the beach and is beautiful but the glass needs to be cleaned a bit so you can see better. Beautiful outdoor seating area and dining area. In the early evening there are quite a bit of mosquitos so bring spray. Book walking city tours with the hotel directly and no one else. Overall most of the staff were exceptional however there were a couple who did not meet the standards. We enjoyed our stay at the Park Hyatt Zanzibar and when in Stonetown, this is absolutely the place to stay.

A true 5 star experience - rooms, service, dining options and the amenities are excellent. Our room was very clean, and both the daily and turndown services were well done. Breakfast was also very nice and was included. The hotel is close to many of the attractions in Stone town. The pool is clean and there were plenty of chairs when we went. There is beach access via a staircase, although it is a public beach. I recommend this hotel to anyone in the area

I spent several nights here as part of my honeymoon. Unfortunately, this stay was the worst part of my honeymoon, and I don’t plan to return to the Park Hyatt Zanzibar. There were several issues throughout my stay, including service issues and issues with the hotel itself. Service at the hotel ranged anywhere from non-existent, to atrocious, to mediocre, and very rarely left a positive impression. As a few service issues: 1. I had quite a few issues throughout my stay, including a phone call from room service that woke me up at 2am (I did not order room service) and issues with the TV randomly turning on in the middle of the night and waking me. I was assured someone would get in touch with me to help make this right, yet no one ended up following up. I even spoke with someone from their management team at breakfast twice who assured me there would be a resolution, and yet no one managed to follow through on this. 2. On a similar note, we asked for the hotel to make us a dinner reservation at Beach House one night. The hotel never bothered to confirm our reservation, so we ended up just going to the restaurant to confirm that the reservation had been made. 3. We switched rooms and were assured someone would come in 5 minutes to help us with our bags. No one showed up for 20 minutes so we transferred our bags ourselves. Obviously we are more than capable of carrying our luggage, but this is yet another promise made that wasn’t kept. Of course, staff quickly saw us moving our bags and then helped us, soliciting a tip afterwards. 4. It was nearly impossible to get service by the pool most days. On my final day at the hotel, a server didn’t show up until 2.5 hours after I arrived at the pool. The servers at the pool also aggressively asked us to sign our bill immediately after eating lunch, when we likely weren’t done ordering for the day. There were a few days where we ended up signing multiple bills by the pool for lunch and drinks later in the day. Not a big deal, but this added further friction to an already suboptimal stay. There are ads throughout the hotel that say “Luxury is Personal,” yet my stay was neither luxurious nor personalized. As a few examples: 1. The pool chairs are in rough shape. Many of them are caved in, falling apart, and very uncomfortable. Additionally, the towels by the pool are poor quality and certainly not what I would call luxurious. There also frequently were not any towels by the pool, and when they were replenished, staff would bring no more than 3, so they would quickly run out again. 2. Windows at the hotel are not sound proof. My first room was on the side of the hotel on the road and it was so loud we asked to move. We ended up with an upgrade to a sea view (which we really appreciated!) and while this was a much nicer view, the sounds from the vendors and boats on the beach were incredibly noisy and made it difficult to relax in the room. 3. The Park Hyatt’s dining outlets all had a tip section on the receipt, while most places we went to in Stone Town did not solicit tips. Similarly, most staff at the hotel solicited tips, including the spa staff, where tips were already included in the prices per the treatment menu. This made me feel like a walking ATM when prices were already significantly more expensive than similar restaurants in Stone Town, and cheapened my experience further. While my stay was generally quite bad, I want to highlight the following positives from our stay: 1. The front desk staff packed us dinner for our very late departure from Zanzibar on our last day. I really appreciated this, and this was the first instance where our stay felt somewhat personalized. 2. Breakfast was quite good. I loved the fresh coconuts! The Park Hyatt Zanzibar has the potential to be a great hotel, but needs some serious work in both service and general maintenance/upkeep. I cannot in good faith recommend anyone stay at this hotel based on my experience.
