2 out of 5 stars (and that’s being generous) I stayed for 7 days at Occidental Punta Cana in Hotel 20, Room 201 (a suite). While the resort itself was nice, it felt dated and didn’t live up to the standard of other vacation resorts I’ve visited. The room was maintained daily, but there was nothing particularly special about the service or accommodations. The towels provided were ALL stained and discoloured, and they do not provide fresh beach towels daily. They also had water issues almost daily.. We would wake up with absolutely no water source in our room, which meant we couldn’t shower or bath for the first half of the day.. this happen at least 3/7 days we stayed there.. Unfortunately, my experience was soured when I found cockroaches in my room—completely unacceptable for a suite. I had my one year old daughter with me and made her sleep with my hubby and i, as i was too scared to leave her alone in a crib with bugs in the room. The food was also disappointing, lacking in both quality and variety. The ocean beach was also not well kept, seaweed and garbage. The only thing keeping this from a 0-star review were the Royal Level amenities, which added some value to the stay. The staff were friendly and professional, but overall, this resort did not meet expectations. Not to mention nothing was done about the cockroaches, and they didn’t seem to care about the issue. If you’re looking to go on vacation choose ANY other Punta Cana resort…..

This was my first ever experience at an all inclusive resort. Right away we were greeted by our lovely friend Oscar. Every morning he messaged us checking in to see if we needed anything, and was always super helpful. If I ever find the time to come back, I’ll be requesting Oscar!

We had an amazing time during our week long stay. Oscar assisted us all week, constantly checking in every morning and evening to ensure we had everything we needed. Whenever we needed anything, he handled everything professionally and in a timely manner. Would highly recommend.

I deleted my original review as I posted it the day we arrived and was not happy that they gave us the wrong room and left us saying they were sold out (one king bed for two adults and two kids) however we made it work after a very long check in process and a cot and couch pulled together… Bars were busy with students, had to wait in line over 20 minutes most days for a drink so we just got multiple at a time. Ala cart restaurants were great we were able to try all 5. (Oriental, steak, Italian, Mexican & seafood) The pizza and taco stand were one of our favourite things of the trip! Beach was beautiful but could use more servers and more chairs! Also don’t let the bird guy scam you into his $20 each photos when he places the bird on your head without consent 😆 I wish the shows weren’t so late, my daughter loved the Disney show but 930pm is very late. Pools were warm and not overcrowded. Not a ton for kids, the kids club was cute and my 4 year old loved it but my 7 year old got bored at times. He did however enjoy the foam party and jumping castle in the pool a few days. Service staff didn’t seem to care to go above and beyond which was a bit strange to me. Overall a good trip and would recommend to others.

I genuinely have no idea how this place has a 4.6 star review. My partner and I stayed for 1 week at the Royal level. Thank god because we would have starved if we didn't have the royal level restaurant. The buffet was absolutely disgusting. The royal level restaurant would be considered maybe a 2-3 star restaurant here in Canada..... But it's all we had. Everything was either overcooked or undercooked and lacked flavour. Room service is available but impossible to get through to anyone. If you did reach someone they could not speak English. Be prepared for majority of employees to not speak English. The rooms had stains on the furniture. Our water turned off on a few occasions and we lost hot water. Cheap to go here but a waste of your hard earned money. The YouTube reviews you see about this place are no longer accurate. The food and amenities have gotten MUCH worse it seems over the recent years.
