This was our first hotel stay in Mexico, and unfortunately it left a very negative impression. The property positions itself as a high-end hotel, and the price reflects that. However, the overall experience did not match the rate charged. Upon arrival after a night flight, we were exhausted and hoping to eat something and check in quickly. Instead, we were informed that all food outlets were closed and no alternatives were available. The check-in process was unexpectedly slow, despite the reception area being almost empty. We also had to wait an excessive amount of time for our luggage, even though our room was located very close to reception. The room itself was extremely disappointing. There were visible signs of humidity, mold, limescale stains, and overall deterioration. Due to the jungle climate and poor ventilation, nothing dried properly during our stay. By the end of the trip, our personal belongings were affected by constant dampness. The food quality did not correspond to the hotel’s price category. Buffet options were limited and uninspiring. The à la carte restaurants were also underwhelming. The only consistently positive aspect was the cocktails. We were invited to a “welcome meeting” which turned out to be a sales presentation for a yearly membership program. After we politely declined, the tone of the interaction noticeably changed and felt unprofessional. Additionally, I previously shared a detailed review of our experience which is no longer visible. I am reposting this to ensure that future guests have a complete and transparent picture before booking. For the price paid, this hotel did not deliver the level of comfort, service, or quality expected. Unfortunately, this experience significantly impacted our first impression of Mexico. I would strongly advise future travelers to carefully evaluate whether this property aligns with their expectations.

So listen, there isn't really any regulation preventing them from saying it's a "5 Star" property. If you book expecting 5 stars, you will be disappointed. Using the US rating system, it's 3.5 stars. The only real negative to this resort is the food. Some of the food we had was excellent. We really enjoyed the food at the Hacienda, the Oriental, and Pacos Tacos. The Steakhouse was decent, with the medium rare coming out very rare (like they were cooked frozen so the outside was cooked but the inside was a bit cold), but flavor was still good. The two places I would avoid at all costs are the italian restaurant and the pizza spot. For some reason, any dish using tomato sauce was awful and tasted like the sauce turned weeks ago - sour. I took one bite of the eggplant parm (which looked like slop) and almost wretched at the table. Then tried the bolognese, and spit it right back out. Same thing with the pizza. Pizza crust was delicious but the sauce ruined it. If you steer clear of those items, you will enjoy the food well enough to really enjoy this resort. Our room was nice, if a bit rundown (the toilet tilted and wasn't fully secured so every movement felt a bit awkward), but the bed and pillows were great, and the AC worked like gangbusters. We were in Building 22, which was awesome because we had a little lounge with a tv, an espresso machine, cookie snacks, and a mini fridge filled with water and beer. We ended up watching the Pat's game with a few people. The resounding pros of this resort are the grounds and wildlife- which are truly spectacular. The adults only ocean pool is beautiful with lovely fish swimming all around you. In the afternoon, back at the pool near Bldg 20, it's like witching hour where every animal comes out. A massive orange iguana lives in the tree, the monkeys swing by, a pack of coatis dig for grubs, deer slowly pace around the pool. Every morning and afternoon/evening you are sure to see dozens of animals. This alone makes the resort very special and worth a trip. It's something I haven't seen anywhere else. Service was also wonderful. Everyone was polite and helpful. I also never was approached for the timeshare, so that was nice.

We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights. We had a royal level room/suite and we were very happy with all the bonuses the royal level gives you. The french restaurant was a god sent, since we did a 14-day trip through Mexico before our stay here, and we got a nasty stomach bug on the way. All the great food served here was just a pleasure and did wonders for me. We especially enjoyed the wonderful nature in and around the resort and all the animals that surounded us. There were monkeys on our balcony and deers below it. The nice foot paths through the forrest were especially nice just to relax and enjoy. If you are staying for a few days, get the Xcaret unlimited pass. It was great just going to the park, enjoying all the shows and sights it offers, and then go back to the resort, have something to eat and drink and after that head back to the park for some more entertainment. I would also really like to mention all the great staff, that made our stay special. The bellman Carlos Ivitz, that always made us smile and drove us around the property, Diego that drove us to the check-in and later showed us around the resort and all the others that made everyday here into something special. Such a beautiful resort! Must go see Julio Valdez at the snack bar, he is the kindest guy and made my birthday truly special! We saw him everyday and he was always so funny and excellent. All the staff at this resort are wonderful, the wildlife is amazing. Food is okay you can find some hidden goods for sure. And they sure love to feed you drinks. Wildlife is amazing and the grounds are just gorgeous. Got upgraded to a swim out suite on arrival it was amazing.

We loved the customer service the 9 days that we stayed with the whole family! The workers were very friendly and remembered our names! Especially Julio at the snack hut by the big pool! He made us laugh and had great conversations when we asked him for information! We preferred the snack hut for food, the pool and outstanding service! Besides great service the hotel has great pools, even with swim up bar, it has a swim cove with a private beach (great for kids) fun activities for everyone! The tropical setting and animals were also so amazing!! Plus, we booked our trip to Chichen Itza and Tulum (with centers) at the hotel and it was safe, convenient and high quality! We do wish they offered better quality food but all the friendly service made up for it!
