MEALS: After a week-long vacation, we had the opportunity to try almost all of the specialty restaurants, with the exception of the seafood restaurant. Without a doubt, Hacienda was our absolute favorite. From the very first bite, the experience was outstanding. The guacamole with grasshoppers and pork rinds was a unique and delicious appetizer, the tamal was excellent, and the turkey mole was absolutely phenomenal—rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. It was easily one of the best meals we had during our stay. What truly set Hacienda apart, however, was the exceptional service provided by Francisco. We were a large family group with children, and he handled everything flawlessly. His attention to detail, perfect timing, friendliness, and genuine interaction with our family made us feel welcomed and cared for from beginning to end. We stayed in the Royal area and experienced the elevated service that comes with it, yet Francisco’s service at Hacienda completely blew the Royal restaurant experience out of the water. That is not an easy feat. His professionalism, warmth, and ability to anticipate our needs made this one of the most memorable dining experiences of our entire vacation. Hacienda was chef’s kiss from start to finish. Outstanding food, impeccable service, and an unforgettable evening. Francisco is a true asset to the resort, and we highly recommend Hacienda to anyone visiting.

We had an AMAZING 29th Anniversary at Occidental at Xcaret! The grounds were beautiful, wildlife everywhere (while we were there a baby deer was born, we saw monkeys, coatis, agoutis, macaws , and lots of iguanas), the room was amazing, and the staff were wonderful! I have to list several by name who really made our stay special: Our Consieres: Berenice Alejandra, Cynthia Vega, Nadia Victoria, Andria Vidal, Kimberly Cardenas The staff at D'Oriental: Guadalupe Mendez and Edith Medoza And the wait staff at the Royal: Francisco Mendez, Juliana Garcia, Charlie Hernandez, & Ricardo Be, Raquel, Max, Alberto, Daniel, Samuel, & David It was so nice to be able to walk / take a short boat ride to Xcaret Park. It allowed us to break up our park days to 4 hours each day so we didn't get burned out. The food at the main buffet was really good, and they have a different theme nightly, the snack bars had a good variety, and if you didn't want the buffet, there is Pacos Tacos and a Pizzaria. The Activities were fun (you must play tequila volleyball) and the Night Time entertainment was great, I really liked the Mayan Welcome Show and the singer in the lobby each evening. The resort is huge, but there are shuttles every 10 minutes, but most times we walked, they have nature trails and ruins that you'll miss if you always take the shuttle (not to mention the wildlife). There is a vacation club presentation, it's an hour and a half, but in exchange they will pay for an excursion (so if you have the time it might be worth it). I considered the Resort incredible, especially for the price. Book through Barcelo and you earn points and discounts on future stays. This was our second trip to Occidental Xcaret, and we definitely plan to return again soon.

My husband and I went to diner at the La hacienda Blanca our waiter was amazing. Also Francisco was very nice and friendly he gave us great recommendations. He took the time to recommend the Rib eye dinner and it was amazing. Francisco also took his time to explain other areas of the resort and the info really helped. If you visit La hacienda Mexicans at occidental by xcaret, reserve at La hacienda. And ask for Francisco. Loved it! Highly recommended.

This was our first hotel stay in Mexico, and unfortunately it left a very negative impression. The property positions itself as a high-end hotel, and the price reflects that. However, the overall experience did not match the rate charged. Upon arrival after a night flight, we were exhausted and hoping to eat something and check in quickly. Instead, we were informed that all food outlets were closed and no alternatives were available. The check-in process was unexpectedly slow, despite the reception area being almost empty. We also had to wait an excessive amount of time for our luggage, even though our room was located very close to reception. The room itself was extremely disappointing. There were visible signs of humidity, mold, limescale stains, and overall deterioration. Due to the jungle climate and poor ventilation, nothing dried properly during our stay. By the end of the trip, our personal belongings were affected by constant dampness. The food quality did not correspond to the hotel’s price category. Buffet options were limited and uninspiring. The à la carte restaurants were also underwhelming. The only consistently positive aspect was the cocktails. We were invited to a “welcome meeting” which turned out to be a sales presentation for a yearly membership program. After we politely declined, the tone of the interaction noticeably changed and felt unprofessional. Additionally, I previously shared a detailed review of our experience which is no longer visible. I am reposting this to ensure that future guests have a complete and transparent picture before booking. For the price paid, this hotel did not deliver the level of comfort, service, or quality expected. Unfortunately, this experience significantly impacted our first impression of Mexico. I would strongly advise future travelers to carefully evaluate whether this property aligns with their expectations.

Definitely not a 5 star resort I am sorry to say, The staff is very nice no doubt about it but that’s about as far as it goes. The food is tremendously underwhelming and it’s the same thing every day breakfast lunch and dinner. The activities are also lacking as well, the arcade has about 7 games in which 4 of them don’t work and what’s the point of having prizes if the games don’t even give tickets. The smell of the sargassum through the air at certain points is so off putting as well. One pooltable in the sports bar so you barely get a chance to play as you’re always waiting for someone to finish up, the same game on 5 out of the 8 tvs. The easy access to Xcaret park is definitely a plus and that’s a big reason for the rating not being lower. For being a 5star resort it sure is also very badly lit up at night throughout the space as it gets very dark and hard to see, sometimes you can’t even see the persons face right in front of you. They have small little eating areas open til very late which is actually very nice as well but they run out of food. Also be very aware of bugs entering your room as it is a jungle atmosphere. They speak how there are animals walking throughout the resort in which is not a total lie but it’s mainly Iguanas and Coatis. I didn’t truly know what to expect and didn’t allow myself to have high expectations going into it just in case there was disappointment and man were there disappointments. I will definitely say Thank You Occidental for the stay but I wasn’t Wowed by anything.
