There is absolutely nothing to complain about regarding this resort 🙂. It is maintained at a very high standard – the staff are extremely kind and helpful, the service is excellent, and the cleanliness throughout the entire resort is outstanding. The food is delicious and varied – everyone will definitely find something they enjoy. We especially recommend the restaurant JUST GRILL – their ravioli were absolutely incredible. Truly unforgettable! We are not sure whether the resort is always this windy or if we were just unlucky with the weather. In any case, this place is ideal for an active holiday. The marine life is rich and snorkeling is fantastic. However, I would not recommend it if you are looking for total peace, passive relaxation and long, calm lagoon beaches typical of the “classic Maldives.” The “sunrise side,” where the Family Villas are located, does not feel like the typical postcard Maldives, and water shoes are definitely needed for entering the sea there. We did not access the opposite side (private villa beaches), but from the bar we could see that the sea entry there looks much more comfortable. The most beautiful spot for calm and easy access to the sea is the tip of the island, where the jetty to the Water Villas begins. The resort is also great for running – the jetties are very well designed, so you can run without disturbing villa guests, and you can also run through the center of the island. Our stay at OBLU NATURE Helengeli was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we were welcomed at the airport to the final speedboat transfer back, everything was seamless, professional, and genuinely caring. We stayed in a Lagoon Villa, which was spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable. The outdoor shower was a highlight, and having our own pool overlooking the ocean made it even more special. The villa was cleaned daily to a very high standard, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the overall comfort was exceptional. We also loved the thoughtful touches — every day the minibar was replenished with two Cokes, two Sprites, two beers, a slab chocolate, and plenty of drinking water. The house reef, accessible directly from the jetty, is truly something else. Snorkelling there felt like entering another world. We saw an incredible variety of marine life — fish of every size and colour imaginable, blacktip reef sharks, turtles, eels, octopus, and so much more. It was absolutely out of this world and easily one of the highlights of our trip. The staff deserve special mention. Everyone was genuinely happy, friendly, and attentive, and the service throughout the resort was excellent. The food was delicious, with an impressive variety of options at every meal, catering to all tastes. The cocktails at the bar were also fantastic — the Fonduloo is a must-try. Our recent ten-day stay at OBLU Helengeli Maldives was nothing short of extraordinary—a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and warm hospitality that exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and friendliness that immediately made us feel welcome. The entire team deserves special recognition for their attentiveness and sincerity; it is rare to encounter such consistently kind and dedicated service throughout an entire stay. Our beach villa with a private pool was the highlight of our accommodation experience. Beautifully designed and thoughtfully equipped, it offered both comfort and privacy in a truly idyllic setting. The direct beach access made spontaneous dips in the ocean effortless, and our children were especially delighted by the open-air shower—an experience that added a touch of adventure and uniqueness to our stay. One of the resort’s standout features is undoubtedly its exceptional house reef. The snorkeling right off the beach was spectacular, offering vibrant marine life and crystal-clear waters that made every excursion unforgettable. For a family looking to combine relaxation with light adventure, this was simply perfect. Culinary experiences at OBLU Helengeli were equally impressive. The variety and quality of the food were consistently excellent, catering to a wide range of tastes while maintaining a high standard throughout. Every meal felt like a treat, further enhancing the overall experience. As the days drew to a close, the sunsets provided a breathtaking spectacle each evening—truly the definition of paradise. Watching the sun dip below the horizon, surrounded by such natural beauty, created moments we will cherish for a long time. This was our first stay at an OBLU resort hotel, and it was amazing. The hotel is very well maintained, and the Sunset Water Villa was magnificent. The private pool was an added bonus, especially when the sea was rough. Special mention to our housekeeper Rasheed who tidied our villa daily and was very pleasant. The snorkelling was absolutely incredible, and we did as much of it as possible. Unfortunately, there were 2 days when the sea was too rough and we were not allowed to go in. That’s the consequence of coming in the off-season. It would be very helpful if the app provided alerts when the beach reopened or when the flag status changed, as we found ourselves constantly checking. Also it would be good if guests could be allowed in depending on their ability to swim as sometimes even with red flag, we felt like we would have managed fine but understand that others would not. Whilst snorkelling we have seen an abundance of marine life. Turtles, sharks, octopuses, reef fishes, eels, rays, and beautiful corals. Every snorkel experience was different, the best one around 7:30AM before breakfast. We particularly enjoyed the side of the sunset villas where you get in via the pier. We saw a lot of tourists kicking the corals, standing on them, kicking them with their flippers, and it was infuriating!!! The lifeguards kept telling people off as well. No respect for the sea and the reef. Therefore we feel that more should be said at the welcoming meeting about ensuring that people never step on corals, even if to sort out their masks!! The lifeguards were very helpful and chatty, which was great. Special mention to the lifeguard that is part of the Maldivian band group as he was really nice. We also enjoyed the Friday night Maldivian show a lot. The night snorkelling trip was cancelled twice, and there didn’t seem to be much effort to reschedule it for a night with better conditions, which was disappointing, especially as the hotel and excursions did not appear overly busy. The bar was excellent, and the staff were very attentive throughout our stay. The red sangria was our favourite. Special mention to Kessi and Anjani as they were both really nice and thoughtful. The buffet was consistently very good, with high-quality food and plenty of variety. Special mention to Simpa as when she was our server she made the whole experience super nice with how lovely and chatty she is. Also Sanu the cooker from the Asian buffet corner was really chatty and very helpful. Dinner at Raga Route was incredible and a truly memorable Indian dining experience. Special mention to Nick the server as she made our experience much better by explaining everything to us and chatting at the end. Dinner at Just Grill was also very good, although the dishes were more familiar to us. Service across the resort was of a very high standard. The staff were attentive, friendly, and always welcoming, with warm smiles everywhere we went. Coming in May was good because the resort was very quiet but it meant that we had a lot of cloudy days with heavy showers. Nonetheless, we absolutely loved the holiday despite the few weather challenges and it was fabulous to spend 10 nights here. We have felt extremely relaxed and were sad to leave. We recommend a stay here!

My wife and I spent 5 days at Oblu for our honeymoon and we enjoyed every single day of them. We stayed at a water villa which was cozy, clean, gorgeous and we felt at home. The staff was super friendly and helpful. However the best part of the vacation was definitely the reef which is why we spent most of the stay snorkeling there.
