We got a "Zanzibar Massage " on the journey to the hotel! This is because the roads leading to hotel are quite bad and bumpy. Have to say, I was a little worried about what I had booked! However, our experienced driver avoided all the pot holes, and got us and our luggage there in one piece! Once inside the hotel gates, you are met with this oasis of beauty. The staff welcoming you were friendly and attentive, and this followed throughout the whole hotel. There was a small mix-up with our booking, but this was sorted in no time at all, and it did not affect our stay. The rooms are slightly dated, but in keeping with the countries heritage, the decor of the room was fine, and the bathroom was good. Anything that we reported was sorted in no time (bulb needed replacing, for instance). Every day, the room was cleaned to a high standard, and our cleaner worked magic with towels to create master pieces every day on our beds, to our delight. There was complimentary drinking water in our fridge every day, which was welcome. Air conditioning and a ceiling fan were also an absolute delight and much needed. The food in the main restaurant was a little bit disappointing whilst it was mostly good food, it would have been nice to perhaps have an African authentic food counter, or even a night of authentic African food. The food was mainly international and I know you have to cater for everyone, but I think most people like to taste something from the country they are visiting. The staff in the restaurant were all 10/10 without exception! In fact the staff across the whole resort were so, so friendly and accommodating. They truly went out of their way to help you. Emanuel kept us hydrated by serving our drinks with a smile and efficiency. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The same was true of all the bar staff, and Given, in the restaurant was the same; nothing was too much trouble! The resort is right on the beach, and it is kept clean and is secure. There are plenty of eating places along the coast, and lots of places to shop outside of the resort. It is well positioned for getting to other parts of the island, so I would highly recommend this hotel. If it is your first time in Zanzibar, the reception staff are really helpful, and the guest tours desk, are keen to help and advise with any excursions.

Nice hotel, clean rooms, friendly staff. The breakfast was ok, they had omelettes on the stop so that was nice. We ate at the fisherman restaurant multiple times, really loved the shrimp mango salad and fried shrimps

The resort is beautiful. The staff are very very friendly and hospitable. The views from the beach are gorgeous. There are three restaurants and several bars to choose from. Breakfast includes cooked to order eggs or omelettes as well as waffles. The dinner is very good. I thought the prices were very reasonable. I had curried chicken for dinner for $13 and a beer was $5. There is a fitness center that is open 24/7 but the treadmill is very old and doesn't work very smoothly but there's a good selection of weights and an elliptical. The grounds are meticulously maintained. The rooms are beautifully presented. Air conditioner is excellent. There is a coffee and tea service in the room with packaged instant coffee. And there are two very large one liter bottles of water that are restocked each day. The only real negative and the reason I only gave it four stars is because of how difficult it is to get to. It is a 1 to 2 hour drive from the airport, depending on traffic... And the roads once you get to Nungwi are atrocious.

The location of this property and the views were astonishing. The rooms were spacious, clean and no matter where you stayed, you were close to everything. On top of all of that, the staff was absolutely incredible. Every single member who I interacted with was so helpful and genuine and they had security everywhere, so you always felt safe.The bad? We did the stay 4 get 1 deal and by day 3, we were very sick of the food. Buffet for breakfast and dinner and lunch options didn't change, but there also weren’t too many options outside of the resort, so we were kind of stuck with what we got. Additionally, the gift shop pricing was insane. I needed sunscreen and it was $40 USD! I wandered out and was able to get some for $20, but I guess that's what happens when you stay in a tourist trap.

The key to the hotel is the fantastic location, great staff, well maintained rooms, and good security on property. Pros: - Stephon and other bar staff were very personable, friendly and making some good mixed drinks ( I kept it simple but was happy to see name brand ingredients). - Security staff kept the resort property free of beach hawkers (of which there are MANY) and belongings very safe. - Though there were service gaps, they were always resolved quickly after escalation (e.g. sink issue was promptly resolved by maintenance) and I genuinely felt the staff wanted to help on these occasions. Cons: - The food (breakfast being my major call-out) needs a significant overhaul to meet expectations. Most Marriott international properties provide amazing breakfasts but that was absent here. Very Bad drip coffee, low quality ingredients, nonworking toaster, stale bakery items. The only items escaping this criticism were the omelette station, scrambled eggs, and French toast. I can't speak for other meals but given that the pricing far exceeded nearby restaurants I doubt you get good value. - Price? I'm sure you can find cheaper accomodations in the area but I'll leave that calculation to your travel :) Edit: After two weeks in Zanzibar and Nairobi, I have to come back and emphasize that the food at the resort requires a complete overhaul with emphasis on ingredient quality, cooking, and value. The breakfast was the worst among my stays including a camp in rural Kenya. Do not do an all inclusive package as much better options exist along the beach and you won't want to eat much at the actual resort.
