I recently stayed at Nickelodeon Resort Riviera Maya with high hopes, but unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. While the resort has its moments, several significant issues made our stay less enjoyable than anticipated.
Water Park:
The Aqua Nick water park was the highlight of our stay. It’s a fun and well-designed space, but the excitement wore off after just one day. Without a variety of activities or new attractions, it quickly became repetitive.
Accommodations:
The resort area where the rooms are located was underwhelming. The rooms themselves were decent but didn’t live up to the luxury I was expecting for the price. The overall aesthetic felt lackluster, and the area didn’t offer the high-end feel that was advertised.
Food:
Dining was another disappointment. The food options were limited and didn’t impress in terms of taste or quality. Given the resort’s reputation and cost, I expected much better culinary experiences.
Main Pool:
The main pool was mediocre at best. It lacked the wow factor that one would expect from such an expensive resort. It felt basic and didn’t offer the luxurious amenities or ambiance that we hoped for.
Beach:
The beach was a major letdown. The area was filled with ugly rocks and was not swimmable, which was a significant drawback. We were looking forward to enjoying the beautiful Caribbean coast, but this beach did not meet our expectations.
Service:
Service was a major issue. Our check-in took an exasperating two hours, which set a negative tone for the beginning of our stay. Additionally, we encountered a group called Team Nick who seemed more focused on pressuring guests into writing on-the-spot reviews rather than ensuring a pleasant experience.
Overall Experience:
For the price, Nickelodeon Resort Riviera Maya did not deliver the value we expected. Despite some fun moments at the water park, the lackluster accommodations, disappointing food, unimpressive pool, and poor beach conditions made it feel like a poor investment. For a truly family-friendly resort that offers better overall quality and service, I highly recommend considering the Finest Resort.

Stayed for 5 days. Just got back home today. One of the best vacations I ever had. Room was clean, up to date and spacious. The patio pool was a blast my 3 boys loved it. Food was above average. Good burger was my favorite. The aqua nick park was great. We spent all day there twice and time still flew by with all the fun we had. A tad bit overpriced overall but I would definitely consider returning in the future if I can snag a good deal.

This place is amazing!!!. We spent 3 nights here with 2 elementary aged kids . So much to do!! I am in awe of how clean/ pristine the entire water park and hotel was . Food was great , decor and rooms incredible . I know they offer day passes but nothing was overcrowded at all . However I do think the best part of this place is the staff- They seem to work so hard yet are always happy , smiling, and so welcoming . I hope management recognizes this and treats them accordingly . We have been to many family friendly resorts such as beaches , Atlantis . All very nice but did not feel the need to go back . I would definitely come back here again though it was so wonderful !

DO NOT GO THERE !!! Transportation from the airport was a hassle. Lomas travel refused to ferry us to the hotel because we had kids. We had to call the hotel directly before we were let on the bus.
Checking in was a nightmare of its own. The receptionist was rude and not helpful. We spent about 1 hour trying to check in with kids.
The pricing does not match the service provided. The food was tasteless and our kiddo developed an allergy on our last day. The only good part was inter-resort transportation.
Checking out Where do I start? They did not inform us we had to book transportation 24 to 72 hours. After calling Lomas we were told they'll be picking us up 5 hours before our flight and we have to go to other resorts to pick up passengers. The pick up time was 10am. With 3 kiddos this transportation schedule could not work. We tried in vain to work on rescheduling but they denied. We asked them to call us a taxi but they doubled the price. How did we find out? We booked our own taxi to the airport. It was way cheaper than what the hotel planned to call for us.
Once we were about to depart from the hotel, we were stopped and told to get a clearance certificate from the reception. Guess what happened? They charged us for two events we had no idea about. Breakfast with characters and something else. We were stupefied by these charges. They even had printed receipts to show we booked these events. When we asked them to show us the event on their computers, they said computers were down and not working. Our concierge who was very responsive during our stay, suddenly stopped answering her phone. We told them if we missed our flight because of this scam, we would be suing them and they'll pay for first class tickets back to the United States. They caved in and we did not pay a dime.
Awful experience Never ever going back.

The service at Nickelodeon Riviera Maya is top notch and truly shows Mexican hospitality. All the employees were nice, courteous, always smiling, always saying hello, and always willing to help. I was very impressed with the hospitality. We went to Nickelodeon Punta Cana 2 years ago and the service and food were terrible. Mexican food beats DR food by a very far stretch. The restaurants were good but lacks variety and not too adult focused. Piazza was the only restaurant that we were happy with. The beef tenderloin and pizza were really good and on par with the stuff back in the US. The shows were great for the kids as they enjoyed them every night we were there. Aqua Nick was excellent as it caters to the kids and the adults. They had 3 separate areas catering to all age groups. My son is a bit older so he preferred to go on the tall water slides and my little one preferred the Paw Patrol area.
Just one thing that I can just say that I wasn't happy with. The theater has two rows of reserved seats with clear cloth covers that say "reserved". The first night we were there I asked 3 separate employees about sitting in those seats. All three of them said it was fine to sit in. However, on our last night, when they had guests with status arrive, the lady walked up to me and said this is reserved for people with status. I of course told her your employees told me to sit here and to please train them properly. I asked 3 of them because I understand the English barrier.
