if you want peace and rest just in the beach,this place is perfect for it! they have wonderful people working in the hotel,thank you all for such a hospitality! definitely worth to book place including breakfast,it was one of the best breakfast in all island so far. hotel located in peaceful area,far away from crowds,not so much things to do around,but 7/11 and pharmacy is just across the street.In general this hotel is for couples and families,no party vibe,so just take your book and enjoy your holiday! looking forward to come back !p.s. i stayed in ocean view villa,highly recommended!

The Room I have has high ceiling and large bathroom with extra outdoor shower. The price was about US$350 per night. Very big infinity pool by the beach front. Breakfast restaurant is not very big and has few patio tables. The food doesn't match up to the price I paid for the stay. The USM airport lounge has much better food than here. Services also need to be improved as their staffs were not well trained in the hospitality industry.

Pros: The grounds are beautiful, with birds singing and no road noise. The beds and pillows are comfortable and there are plenty of sun beds on the beach. There are a few restaurants and a 7-11 nearby, along with being fairly easy to flag down a songthaew (we didn’t trust ourselves on a scooter or with a car, as traffic was crazy). Recommend asking the front desk the price you should expect to negotiate with the driver. Cons: -- Deferred maintenance in the rooms, lot of gaps in doors and windows, letting mosquitos, ants, and geckos into the room. For those who don’t like shower water getting everywhere, including the toilet, you’ll have to be creative with the shower head and using a small wall of towels on the floor to contain the splashes. And last comment on the bathroom, they did not use a plastic bag in their trash cans, which is where you’re “supposed” to put your used toilet paper. Gross. -- TV is old school, with no way to watch Netflix or Youtube. There is an HDMI port in the back, so you could possibly bring your own roku. We just watched shows on my laptop. -- The breakfast buffet was completely average – mostly western food and a couple bland Asian food options. -- In terms of the vibe, I would say it mostly caters to 65+ Eastern Europeans. -- The staff are nice, but there is a bit of coldness that may be due overtourism on Samui. -- Super small gym, so if you want to use weights, it may be awkward. The two treadmills are nice though. -- Lastly, while we were there in early February, the waves were a bit rough, so we didn’t get in the water. All in all, I think we spent too much on the place.

This experience was deeply disappointing and frankly unacceptable for a hotel that claims to offer a high standard of hospitality. The conduct of the pool bar staff at the New Star Beach Hotel was profoundly unprofessional. A staff member addressed us in an aggressive and raised voice, publicly and without any discretion, in front of other guests. We were told that we had to pay a day-use fee. The fee itself was not an issue at all; the manner in which this was communicated was the real problem. Being spoken to loudly and disrespectfully in a public setting is humiliating and entirely inappropriate. The situation was especially distressing given the context. We were there to accompany my brother, who is staying at the hotel and who has a level-3 disability, requiring assistance. Rather than showing understanding or basic empathy, we were met with hostility and a complete lack of consideration for his condition. When the matter was brought to the attention of the bar manager, the response was equally disappointing. No apology, no attempt to de-escalate the situation, and no acknowledgment of the inappropriate behavior. This strongly suggests a broader issue with management and service culture rather than an isolated incident. Basic politeness, discretion, and respect appear to be lacking within the pool bar team. Based on this experience, I would strongly discourage non-resident guests from visiting this beach or pool bar. Those expecting professionalism, courtesy, or humane treatment are likely to be disappointed.

We arrived in the evening to a boiling hot room with the AC off. Staff barely spoke English, they had me talk to their manager. The toilet was leaking badly and instead of sending maintenance, they sent housekeeping who couldn’t help out. After insisting, we were moved to another room… which was somehow worse with cobwebs on windows, stained bedsheets and poor hygiene overall. The whole property is neglected, no upkeep. The restaurant looked like a sad cafeteria with plastic tables, harsh lights and ceiling fans. We had breakfast and checked out right after. Pictures online do not represent its current state. This place is nowhere near the standard it claims. Not worth your money or time.
