Yann Decaix
We only came for breakfast and the beach. The beach itself is okay (lots of trash) compared to the south of the island, but fine for daytime. Night is full of hippies. Hotel itself is a quaint old mansion from the British colonial time, lots of maintenance work needed to keep it standing long term. Staff are very friendly and helpful in colonial outfits. Breakfast buffet is very good, large spread and lots of varieties.

An unpleasant experience. The interior beyond the hallway is mouldy and poorly lit. We were led through dingy corridors to get to our room. Great sea view but that’s about it. We ordered room service for dinner because we had gotten in late and the concierge did not lower the spice in the food despite my request - in fact, it seemed spicier than normal.

Rishoni Desilva
We went for a high tea recently and had a mixed experience. We arrived around at 3 PM but waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive. While drinks were served within 15 minutes, the food took much longer, and initially, our platter was missing one plate which arrived late. The quality of the food was average, with some sweet items tasting stale and not very fresh. Portions were also smaller than expected for a high tea experience. Considering the delays and food quality, I found it didn't justify the price paid. Overall, the experience fell short of expectations for a reputed hotel. I hope they can improve their service and food quality.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Mount Lavinia Hotel, and despite a small hiccup with my bad on High Tea reservation, the experience was fantastic. Mr. Janith and the staff members were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. They quickly arranged our High Tea, and it was delightful. The service throughout our visit was superb, and the location right by the beach is marvelous. The food served was delicious and well worth the money. I highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Bala SMJ
I have no idea of the rooms as I haven't had the pleasure yet. The lobby bar serves strong drinks and their service is extravagant. The buffet hasn't let me down, always with a humongous variety of dishes to choose from. Pork is a delicacy here and I make sure I get my fill. Fish fillet is also my favourite here.
