A truly unforgettable experience! Mount Lavinia Hotel perfectly blends colonial charm with modern comfort. The ocean view from the terrace is breathtaking, and the private beach is clean and relaxing. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive throughout our stay. Loved the historic vibe and the romantic story behind the hotel’s origins. Ideal for a peaceful getaway just near to Colombo. Highly recommended!

Athulliya Nair (Athulliya)
The hotel is located in Mount Lavinia and boasts a private beach. All rooms offer an ocean view, which is fantastic. The rooms are standard in size and come with well-equipped bathrooms. The service is excellent. The hotel features a restaurant that includes a pool area, as well as both open and closed dining spaces, where they serve à la carte meals and themed buffets daily, which are absolutely worth trying. However, we experienced issues with the air conditioning during our stay. It wasn’t functioning properly, and even after changing rooms, the problem persisted. Ultimately, we had to request a fan to cope with the heat. This issue extended to the restaurant and other areas of the hotel, where the air conditioning also seemed inadequate.

The meals here are absolutely heavenly — truly exceptional and unforgettable. However, the overall maintenance and bathroom amenities feel decades old which seem stuck in the past. Still, stays like this are the kind you never forget. If places like this were updated inside with a touch of modern luxury, they’d easily outshine many five-star hotels. No one would want to miss a stay at such a beautifully transformed heritage gem.

The rooms were comfortable and well-maintained, though the bathroom fell slightly short of the expected four-star standards in terms of cleanliness and amenities. However, the morning breakfast was excellent value for money, offering a diverse and delicious selection. I particularly enjoyed the pool area, which was clean and inviting, and the hotel’s location proved ideal for exploring nearby attractions. While the bathroom could use improvement, the overall experience was pleasant thanks to the friendly staff, prime location, and standout breakfast. I’d consider staying again for these positives!

A lovely, calm atmosphere right by the beach perfect for a relaxing outdoor gathering. The beachside vibe really adds to the charm. Food quality used to be a bit underwhelming in the earlier days, but it has improved noticeably since then.
