We had a great time at the Motswari Reserve. The safari tours are phenomenal. The rooms, service, food and beverage selection are excellent. We saw every animal multiple times (the big 5 plus more!). We even saw elephants and giraffes from the swimming pool. I thought quiet time between game drives and late at night might be a problem but it wasn’t. Everyone is friendly and courteous. We felt safe the entire time. If you’re going to safari near Kruger don’t hesitate to stay at the Motswari Reserve.

We had a wonderful stay – the lodge is truly fantastic, especially the food prepared by Chef John, which was of a very high standard. When you stay there, make sure to listen to a few stories from Marius, a former ranger in Kruger National Park – that was definitely the highlight of our visit. You should also ask for walking safaris.

This experience was incredible! Super friendly and warm staff. The amenities and accommodation were on point with lot of comfort while being made traditionally in respect with the surroundings. The food served four times a day was great with variety and large quantities, making us discover local cuisine. The Safari drives went perfectly fine, we were able to see all the animals living in the reserve with great respect and explanations from our guide and tracker.

Absolutely amazing trip. A real adventure of a lifetime. We saw so much wildlife including the three Big Cats - lion, leopard and cheetah plus numerous other wonderful animals. The food, camp and wonderful staff especially Landon and Jacky our safari guides made our time there even more special. Thank you guys

I spent two nights at Motswari PGR in May 2025. This camp is an 1.5 hours from Hoedspruit airport, and is a larger type of camp with numerous cabins. My cabin was very comfortable and had A/C. I was a bit disappointed that my room didn't have a patio overlooking the park (like the first game reserve I had stayed at for 4 nights prior) or a mini bar fridge filled with cold drinks and snacks. I know I was spoiled by my first experience in Sabi Sands but this cabin was nice so I don't want to diminish the comfy bed with canopy or lovely washroom and sitting area. The food at this bush camp was buffet which I appreciated more than served food because I was able to eat the foods I enjoyed (more salads, less meat). There were numerous options and everything was delicious. I also liked how there were three separate locations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to break things up a bit. The bush drives with Hayden and Patrick were good because of Hayden who was a great conversationalist, very well versed about animals, insects and plant life. I learned a lot from Hayden and enjoyed my time hearing what he had to say. Patrick didn't really speak or interact much but perhaps his only job is to track. The evening meals were in a different, more exotic setting where they did a "braille" or barbecue. My entire trip was booked via Yellow Zebra for a luxury experience so I was surprised when I couldn't order a rum and coke without paying an upcharge (unlike the other lodge I stayed at). Overall I would give this bush lodge 4.5 stars.
