From the moment I arrived I could tell that my stay would be wonderful. I was greeted with a cold towel and welcome drink by courteous members of staff. The property was clean and based on the layout I found it easy to get around. They had a wide variety of food and everything I had was flavourful. The room I booked was spacious and had an amazing view not to mention the 24/7 room service which had generous portions. There is also a game lounge and great nightly entertainment. Above all the staff served with pride and made me feel special during my stay.

Pros: The lobby and inside resort areas are really nice. The restaurants are very nicely decorated and the food is delicious. The service was amazing. Con: the rooms leave a lot to be desired. They look just like the old Renaissance Jamaica Grand rooms with a fresh coat of paint,molding, mirrors and a new nightstand. Nothing special at all. I love luxury and just wish the rooms were better.

We are members already, and at check-in we were told we should attend the upsell sales pitch. The sales pitch is a joke. They wasted days of our trip giving us the run around with progressively slightly different and more contrived deals and they make you put money down to even see the actual contract to sign. When we arrived at Moon palace hotel Jamaica for our vacation on the 19th of September at 11:15 PM after 18 hours of travelling, we were all absolutely exhausted and hungry. We explained how we were feeling to the lady who was checking us in at the reception desk. We had a balance to pay that failed to go through and was told the card machine is currently not working and will reset itself after midnight, we did question if there was another machine and was told no. We wanted to get a bite to eat and go to our rooms as we were absolutely shattered. We were told we’re not allowed into our rooms until the balance was paid, we should go to the snack bar for something to eat then return after midnight to pay the balance. This was extremely unfair and mean to me and my family not being aloud access to our rooms after explaining how exhausted we were. We could have made arrangements to pay our balance in the morning which would have been more appropriate considering the circumstance. Considering the amount we paid for the vacation we were offered a jerk chicken sandwich that was smothered in pepper we could not eat it due to being to spicy or a cheese sandwich but we all have a dairy allergy so cheese wasn’t a option for us. This was absolutely disgusting that we could only have a hot drink upon our arrival after the amount of money spent per person for our vacation the first night we all went to bed hungry and upset. I phoned the transportation office within the correct time frame, I spoke with Natricia to reschedule our pickup transport due to having an appointment with my lawyer. Unfortunately the changes were not done so the driver came 2 hours later than expected this caused a lot of problems for me as I had to reschedule the appointment. Me and my family would definitely not be staying at Moon palace again due to the way we were treated and the unprofessional incompetent staff.

TLDR: The resort is cute until it isn’t. Don’t bother with the vacation package - once you are checked in go straight to your room and REFUSE THEIR ADVANCES AT ALL COST. Go to a local grocery store before the hotel store. Use a credit card and dispute charges when they don’t honor “Palace cash.” Remember “Palace Cash/Money” is NOT the same as “Resort Credits.” BOOK AT A DISCOUNT UNDER A THIRD PARTY. Our family was trying to support the locals with tipping despite the fact that the resort is not operating at full capacity due to Hurricane Melissa. The majority of staff was kind and helpful, HOWEVER, once transactions are involved you get the run around and all of sudden they stop being helpful. There were three incidents where this was demonstrated: (1) upon checking in they wanted to charge the stay again on a second charge card bc the reservation was booked with a virtual card. There was no need to do this because the stay had already been paid for, yet they demanded that we be charged again on a physical card despite the reservation already being paid for on a virtual card. (2) They lured us into a tour with the promise of a free spa and/or on resort credits. We spent hours negotiating on a package only for them to want me to pay $4,100 before seeing a physical contract. Needless to say we left and their attitudes left little to be desired. (3) They refused to honor the “Palace Cash” when we tried to utilize it to purchase overpriced bug spray ($27) and feminine products ($14 for 8 tampons). Additionally, they did not have the full advertised food options and activities but this is likely due to the storm and I will not blame the resort or staff. Finally, the AC was not dehumidifying the room so despite being cool it was somewhat uncomfortable due to the moisture in the air, again this can be blamed on the store and reliance on generators. (Although the AC worked just fine in the room they used to trick you into buying a vacation package).
