Moon Palace is a great hotel!
The staff are amazing and welcoming.
The food was great, especially the jerk Hut.
The cocktails were VERY strong!
There is also an area for dolphins towards the rear of the hotel, which was a great example. We also went on a sunset which was fun.
I just wish there was more exposure & encouragement for tourists to visit the local market and shops in the surrounding area.

During my recent stay at the Moon Palace in Jamaica, I had the pleasure of interacting with Jacqueline, who works in the snack and beverage department during the show time at night. From the moment I approached her, her friendly demeanor and warm smile set the tone for an exceptional experience.
Jacqueline’s attentiveness and dedication to customer satisfaction were truly top-notch. She went above and beyond to ensure that all our needs during the shows were met promptly and with the utmost professionalism. Her ability to balance efficiency with genuine care made her service stand out.
It’s rare to encounter such outstanding customer service, and Jacqueline made our stay all the more memorable. She is a true asset to the team, and I look forward to returning for another great experience.

I truly believe that people tend to write reviews if their experiences are exceptionally positive, or negative. Mine was more on the negative side. Similar to other guests' complaints, we started our stay with an extremely long check-in process. Even when switching to check-in at the VIP lounge, the process was still long, and the hotel did not seem prepared, staffed, or agile enough to accommodate the two buses that arrived. After about a 1.5 hour process, and a long day of traveling, we finally get to the hall of our room to be hit with the smell of mold and sour milk. While the essential oil diffuser in our room was a nice touch, it does not eliminate the bite of the underlying sour smell that would make it's way in from the hallway.
Without even settling in, we promptly made our way downstairs to complain and asked for a new room; however, there was nothing available (supposedly). Feeling resigned, we made our way to a dinner event to catch up with other families who checked in earlier in the week. What we learned over dinner is that they were also assigned rooms on that floor, a spill / leak happened, they complained, and were eventually moved (after paying for an upgraded room) to other floors or buildings. But somehow, for the hotel, it seemed like a good idea to continue to assign people to rooms on that floor when the issue had not been resolved.
To prevent this review from being extremely longer, we stayed at the hotel. After wasting 2 days trying to manage / resolve our room situation around family events, I finally had a chance to relax once we were moved to a new floor / room (that unfortunately did not have consistent hot water).
We are regular travelers to Jamaica and this was one of my most disappointing experiences (food quality & customer service). There were a couple great people and restaurants that we enjoyed, but the entire first 2 days of our week long experience really put a damper on the trip and left me feeling like I needed more. I do not think Half Moon Ocho Rios would be on my recommend or return list.

As many might have shared, the most annoying part of staying here was the sales guys trying to get you into a membership.. they don't care about your experience, your time, what you want... They will be relentless in trying to hook you up.
Room was ok, service is a hit or miss.. room service was very good while service in restaurants were sometimes good and sometimes nonexistent.
They had some good dance shows in the night.. thoroughly enjoyed those.
Food was mediocre.

This moon palace is nothing like Cancun. Service was hit or miss. Sometimes I would have to wait 15 minutes and it wasn’t busy for someone to come over to get us water and once they would come you never saw them again some staff were rude. once the house keeper didn’t leave us any clean towels, when I asked her she said I only gave one you will have to get them from the pool and bring them up. Elevator broke a couple of times in one week. Basically only one place to eat breakfast. Water leaked in my room.
We asked the bartender at the swim up bar for 15 shots as a tribute for our mom who passed away, gave him a $10 tip for it and he just snatched it and couldn’t even say thank you. There were 15 adults and we all agreed we wouldn’t be back. Loraine the waitress was awesome outside though.
The kids did have fun and there were different things for them to do. But we were disappointed in Jamaica. We have been going to moon palace in Cancun for 15 yrs and that place is amazing.
