I had an amazing stay at Mercure Samui Chaweng Tana – it strikes the perfect balance between comfort, style, and convenience, right in the heart of Chaweng. The hotel has a modern tropical vibe and a peaceful atmosphere, even though it’s just steps away from all the action. The location is ideal – only a short stroll to the beach and about 10-15 minute walk to Central Samui (their mall), shops, restaurants, and everything you need for a great time in Samui. If you can, book an ocean-view room – watching the sunrise every morning was absolutely magical. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated, with all the essentials you’d expect. I really appreciated how quiet it was at night despite being in Chaweng – it made winding down after a day in the sun so easy. One of my favorite surprises came from the housekeeping team – they created lovely floral decorations on the bed every day. Their creativity and attention to detail truly made each return to my room feel special. The rest of the staff were just as fantastic. From the friendly front desk to the warm and welcoming restaurant and bar crew, everyone went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable. The pool area is another highlight – peaceful, well-kept, and perfect for lounging with a drink or diving into a good book. Breakfast each morning was delicious, with a solid mix of local Thai options and familiar Western favorites – definitely something for everyone. Some might find the breakfast options limited, and probably the same everyday - but I’m on a low-cal diet so a smaller menu options work for me. You also must book their firedance dinner: the show is awesome and the dinner is delicious. If you’re looking for a comfortable, affordable, and beautifully run hotel in Chaweng that offers both convenience and a relaxing escape, Mercure Samui Chaweng Tana is a fantastic choice. I’d absolutely stay here again!

I originally booked a Garden Room without realizing there were two types of accommodations available. The Beach Rooms are definitely more premium, and while I attempted to upgrade, they were fully booked. That being said, the Garden Rooms were still comfortable and well-appointed—plus, they were likely quieter, offering a more peaceful retreat. The staff here are absolutely wonderful—exceptionally accommodating and always going above and beyond to ensure guests have the best experience. Their warmth and attentiveness made a lasting impression, and I truly appreciated their efforts. I traveled with friends this time, but I’m already planning to return with my family, and when I do, I’ll be booking a Beach Room for the full experience. The pool is fantastic, offering a great place to relax and unwind. The food and cocktails served by the beach in the afternoon were a highlight—delicious, fresh, and perfect for soaking in the island vibes. One of the standout experiences was the fire show—definitely a must-see! I recommend reserving a table right on the beach for the best view and an unforgettable evening. In terms of nightlife, the immediate area around the hotel is relatively quiet, with a few beach clubs and activities along the shoreline. If you’re looking for more vibrant nightlife, the main party strip is about a seven-minute taxi ride away, and taxis are always readily available. Overall, this was a fantastic stay, and I can’t wait to return!

We had a great time. Staff were fantastic, the location was great (can hire a bike directly through the hotel), beach bar / pool area very clean and overall a great atmosphere. The breakfast each morning was also a hit. We stayed across the road in the "older" part of the hotel, but honestly, for the price, it was completely fine. May be a slight damp/ mould issue with it being the older part as you can smell the damp sometimes. Regardless, we were out and about most of the time. We would highly recommend staying here.

This is a fabulous Mercure and represents all that the again should be. Every aspect from check in, the room, facilities, breakfast, recognition as an ALL Plat were brilliant. The reception and concierge staff are all very welcoming and friendly. The room was large, and very comfortable with a well designed and good sized bathroom. The Plat recognition was great. The breakfast buffet was substantial, offered freshly made options as well as the buffet catering to a variety of tastes. The whole hotel design is beautiful centred on a courtyard with the pool. The pool area leads almost seamlessly to the beach (the seam being just 3 steps). There is a swim up bar and beach bar. It is not a larger resort but packs a lot in.

We booked a room for £200 a night and the rooms were not in the place they appeared to be advertised. It was in the hotel besides where the main hotel photos are taken. My first room smelt of piss. Checking in, my brother’s room the key card didn’t work and we came late. We then had to wait longer to check in, another 10m just standing outside in the hallway. I had to wait for far longer for mine. The staff tried to be as helpful as they could. I think we just feel wrong done by the location of the hotel being not where the photos are. The rooms are tiny and were noisy. The same price we were staying at the Hyatt. We hadn’t realised with the taxes that the price was the same. At the Hyatt the experience was so much better and the rooms were twice as big. Service top notch. Nothing was offered when we arrived at the mercure. It’s these things that make you think why is it costing so much? No value for money.
