We booked a room for £200 a night and the rooms were not in the place they appeared to be advertised. It was in the hotel besides where the main hotel photos are taken. My first room smelt of piss. Checking in, my brother’s room the key card didn’t work and we came late. We then had to wait longer to check in, another 10m just standing outside in the hallway. I had to wait for far longer for mine. The staff tried to be as helpful as they could. I think we just feel wrong done by the location of the hotel being not where the photos are. The rooms are tiny and were noisy. The same price we were staying at the Hyatt. We hadn’t realised with the taxes that the price was the same. At the Hyatt the experience was so much better and the rooms were twice as big. Service top notch. Nothing was offered when we arrived at the mercure. It’s these things that make you think why is it costing so much? No value for money.

The hotel is absolutely lovely—modern, spotless, and beautifully designed. It’s worth noting that the property has two sections, so be sure to book a room in the newer part for the best experience. The staff were fantastic, going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The pool is stunning—large, inviting, and perfect for relaxation. Overall, it's a wonderful place to stay! The main downside is that the beach by the hotel isn’t suitable for swimming due to the rough waters. We visited in January, so it might be different at other times of the year, but during our stay, it was simply too rough to swim. Additionally, with over 120 rooms, the pool area felt overcrowded, and there weren’t enough sun lounges available, which limited how much we could use the pool. Breakfast was okay; the variety of food could have been better, and some items didn’t seem to hold up well in the bain-marie. The room service food (non breakfast) was very good!

This hotel is by far the best I have ever stayed at! The experience was absolutely perfect, and the staff were incredibly welcoming—truly making it feel like a slice of paradise. Every detail was meticulously attended to, ensuring an unforgettable stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a flawless and enchanting getaway.

FIRSTLY, BEWARE! Most of the low review ratings come from bookings in the "Standard" rooms. However, the reviews are legitimate because the experience provided by the "Standard" rooms is very different from the "Deluxe" rooms. I have stayed in both and would say that, although the level of service is the same high standard, the rooms provide a very contrasting picture. The "Standard" room hotel ("City Wing") is at least one star below the main "Deluxe" room hotel ("Beach Side"), across the road, in my opinion. Yes, there are two separate hotels. Initially, I booked the the Standard room and stayed one night before upgrading to their Deluxe room. Once you've sorted this out, the remainder of your stay will be nothing but relaxation. The staff are very warm and helpful. The location is right next to very nice restaurants. The swimming pool is one of the best in terms of accessibility, especially for the rooms that have direct access. Even if your room doesn't, it's just directly downstairs. The gym is also very good as well as their multiple in-house bars. Breakfast could have had a bit more variety but I don't need that much variety for breakfast anyway - so no issues for me. They also provide car rental services. One thing worth noting is that if you have young children and want to swim at their private beach, it's not recommended as the waves are a bit rough for them and the pool is much better to play in anyway. I would recommend this hotel but only if you book a Deluxe room. I rate the Deluxe room 4 stars as the bed is too hard.

Seriously this hotel is probably the worst quality / price in Thailand. Not only there is ZERO service on the beach / pool area. All the trash left by customers is never cleaned see photos an absolute mess. Nothing has been done for foot cleaning when in the pool area so sand is everywhere. Music is absolute garbage and too loud for those who want to relax. I even extended my stay and was given no update as a reward and beds are too hard. Room is clean, cleaning service for rooms is OK. A shame for the Accor group is such a prestigious beach area like Chaweng. I will definitely not come again and probably look for a hotel in the more south area of the island.
