Meliá Zanzibar is a beautiful resort in a stunning location, with expansive grounds and genuinely warm, always-smiling staff. There’s plenty to enjoy — from exploring the gardens to relaxing by the pool or beach. We also attended a wedding here, which was flawlessly executed and set against a picture-perfect backdrop. But despite the lovely setting, our stay had its disappointments. The rooms are tired and in need of serious refurbishment — paint marks, lingering odours, broken switches, and recurring issues with water pressure and hot water. An iron even stained my shirt before an event. Some staff ignored basic housekeeping etiquette. To be fair, the manager was attentive, acknowledged some challenges (like infrastructure issues), and made amends — which we appreciated. But it’s hard to accept that while new villas are being built in the premium area (The Level), the rest of the hotel is left behind. There’s a clear divide in service and standards — and it shows. Food was generally excellent, though breakfast became repetitive after a few days. Ultimately, unless you’re staying in The Level, the resort doesn’t offer great value for money. And while it’s marketed as all-inclusive, be aware — many items incur extra charges, from certain dishes and premium drinks to, surprisingly, coconuts. A truly vast, expansive and beautiful hotel, but one that needs to invest more in uplifting the entire experience — not just the VIP section.

The whole place is just stunning, gorgeous gardens, a beautiful beach, and the room was pure comfort with unreal views. What really made the stay special though was the staff. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. A big shoutout to Pedro and the rest of the staff! absolute legends, they really looked after us and made us feel right at home. The food was top-notch too, loads of variety and flavour. We especially loved the meals down at Gabi Beach, proper magic. Can’t recommend this place enough if you’re looking to relax and recharge. We’ll definitely be back thanks a million guys!

Ended up not wanting to leave😭.The vibe of the whole place is something else, calm, tropical, and just beautifully designed without being over the top. The views? Unreal. I still catch myself looking at photos of the ocean from my room.I used the gym almost every day (which never happens on holiday) because it was actually enjoyable, clean, spacious, and had everything I needed. The food surprised me, not your average all-inclusive. Flavour, variety, and no corners cut. Gabi Beach became my happy place. But what really stuck with me was the staff. Everyone was kind and warm, genuine people who made the stay feel personal. If you’re thinking about it, just book! I already want to go back🥹

We had a most relaxing Honeymoon stay at Melia Level after our Safari. This hotel is top notch, from beautiful rooms to great food and amenities, but the wonderful staff sets it apart from the rest. Sheila welcomed us with a beautiful smile and personality. She took extremely good care of us during our stay. There is a reason why she is the first person you meet on the property. We plan on coming back to Melia just because of her. Our favorite waitress at the Level Restaurant was Witness. Nick was a great bartender and Lilian kept us hydrated by the pool and laughing all day.
