A bit of context me and my husband were staying at the hotel for 10 days. I am (was at the time) 5 1/2 months pregnant. We were excited to have a nice relaxing trip before the baby comes but that is not what we got. Throughout the trip there were multiple occasions where I was given alcohol in food and beverages when I specifically asked not to be due to being pregnant.
We upgraded ‘The Level’ section (the VIP upgrade) on arrival to the hotel as this seemed to offer a better level of service. We were given a concierge - Jorge For the duration of our stay to assist us with all of our needs. The first day we met Jorge he congratulated us on the baby as I had a bump and it was pretty obvious that I was pregnant which is why it became increasingly frustrating to continue to be provided alcohol.
Considering Melia holds itself to an extremely high level of service (5* Wellness Resort) and we received the service we got, it is unimaginable to think what our experience would’ve been
had we not had Jorge as our concierge. He at least offered support and assistance throughout the whole experience. And don’t get me wrong there are loads of lovely service member staff there but the level of service is very inconsistent.
All in all it’s safe to say our experience was not great.
Was it the relaxing trip we had planned? No
Would we go back? No.
Do I recommend you attend this resort if you are pregnant, don’t drink alcohol or don’t speak Spanish on order to be sure that something doesn’t have alcohol in it? No.
Easily the worst holiday we’ve been on so considering the price tag definitely DO NOT recommend.

We stayed at The Level and it was well worth it.
You get a personal concierge as well as access to a variety of restaurants.
One of the restaurants we frequented was The Riviera, one waiter in particular Alexander was always friendly and service with him was on point.
I would come again but only if you’re willing to upgrade

Great family hotel. Exceptional location with a large number of palm trees throughout the hotel and a wide beach with white sand.
Very nice staff, especially at the beach bar and fruit stand.
There are many interesting activities from the hotel animation and evening shows, especially I can highlight Ronny Mercado with his dance lessons.

Suuuuper beautiful place & resort - it’s paradise!
The room is spacious and clean, cleaners also do an amazing job everyday refreshing the room & mini fridge!
The drinks here could be a lot better personally as the cocktails aren’t great. But if you love rum it’s best to get it with pineapple juice!
The staff are always friendly and greeting/smiling at you as you walk past! I love the energy of the staff!
The buffet food is actually super nice! Enough options to choose from so you can certainly indulge here!!
For my partner and I, we can’t seem to book any of the other restaurants and unfortunately the Asian restaurant is an extra $59!
Ronny is super sick from the entertainment team, always bringing the vibe and positivity!
If I were to come back here again I’d rather upgrade to The Level because there’s only a couple of bars by reception that’s open in the evening & The Level guests have more options for better drinks and facilities (bar by the beach in the evening).

Had a great time at Melia Caribe. Excellent beaches and a lot of nice swimming pools. Ronny was excellent entertainment with dance lessons! The food is also amazing with a wide range of options. The cocktails are also very good. We reserved the level and had our own concierge.
