Our stay at the Meliá Caribe was mixed and ultimately disappointing, which is unfortunate given the potential of the property. On the positive side, the food quality itself was generally good. When items were available, meals were enjoyable and well prepared. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were overall clean and well maintained, which we appreciated after long travel days. However, several operational and service issues significantly impacted our experience. Throughout the week, the resort was frequently out of very basic items — including ketchup, hamburgers at the poolside grill, Jack Daniel’s at the bar, and desserts, which often ran out early and were not restocked. At the buffet, the custom grill stations moved extremely slowly, as staff would only prepare food for one guest at a time, leading to long and unnecessary waits. Room service and restocking were inconsistent. Our water and mini-fridge were not reliably replenished, which is an expected standard at an all-inclusive resort of this caliber. Most notably, the service fell short of expectations. While staff were not rude, they were noticeably less engaging and friendly compared to other resorts we’ve stayed at, such as the Hard Rock. The lack of warmth and attentiveness made the experience feel more transactional than hospitable. Overall, while there were some positives, the frequent shortages, slow service, and lack of engagement from staff do not align with what we expect from a resort in this price range. With better management, staffing, and attention to guest experience, this property could improve significantly — but based on our stay, we would rate it no higher than one to two stars.

I have mixed feelings about our stay here. Visually, the resort hits the nail right on the head—it is absolutely beautiful, and the overall aesthetic is exactly what you want for a tropical getaway. However, the experience was dampened significantly by logistical issues, particularly regarding transportation around the property. Here is the breakdown of the pros and cons: The Good: * Food & Drinks: This was the highlight of the trip. They really did a great job here. The variety and quality were impressive, and the drinks were consistent. If you are a foodie, you won't be disappointed. * The Aesthetic: As mentioned, the resort is gorgeous. The grounds are well-kept, and the vibe is very photogenic. The "Okay": * The Rooms: Honestly, a little underwhelming. While they fit the "aesthetic" of the resort and look nice in photos, they lacked a bit of comfort and polish up close. They serve their purpose, but don't expect 5-star luxury inside the room itself. The Bad (and the warning for families): * Transportation: This is a massive resort, and the train/trolley system was a major frustration. The trains took forever to arrive. You spend a lot of your vacation just waiting at stops. * Accessibility: Because the trains were so unreliable, you are forced to walk long distances. This was not friendly for my grandmother who cannot walk far. If you are traveling with elderly family members or anyone with mobility issues, be very careful booking here. We spent a lot of time stressed about just getting from point A to point B. Summary: Come here if you are young, mobile, and want great food and Instagram-worthy views. Avoid if you have mobility limitations or hate waiting on slow resort shuttles.

The kids club is the highlight of our stay! The care they showed for our 3 kids, in particular our 18 months baby, was extraordinary! We had looked around for a good resort with a baby kids club and when we found Melia, it was an easy decision. But we got so much more happy once we came here and they showed a great connection and care that we didnt expect. Thank you for making our stay wonderful! Negra and the team! Thank you!

I stayed here from 28/12/25 to 7/1/26, to spend the New year's eve, and was very disappointed with the level of service considering the 5* "luxury" status of this hotel. SERVICE: - A lot of staff members were passive aggressive, didn't greet or say please/thank you back, acted annoyed or surprised when I'd ask for basic things. Occasionally some cart drivers and waiters were very friendly and kind, but it's exception rather than the rule. - Every single day I would encounter problems with basic service. For example, the tea/coffee machines were out of order all the time, there'd be no tea or cups left. I would ask stuff for it, they'd say "sure", never to be seen again. Same if I needed a fork or a knife, I had to go around asking the staff for it, then wait ages for them to bring it. This problem is very easily fixed by placing cutlery in a reachable spot for guests to grab themselves, but no. - The bedding wasn't changed even once in our 10-days stay. - No small towels in the room, only the big ones. In the first days we asked for small hand towels at Guest Relations, which, they promised to fix, and never did. - At one point, they didn't bring towels at all during cleaning. We had to contact reception 3 times and waited 4 hours and they never brought them! It got so ridiculous that we contacted our travel agent regarding this, only then they brought us the towels. It really shouldn't be this difficult in a 5-star hotel. RESTAURANTS: - At the buffet the tables were rarely clean, it was difficult to find a free table, and even then they were dirty and not sanitised between guests. - The Japanese restaurant is not worth the money. The only tasty thing was the fried rice, the sushi were terrible. I never thought it's possible to make lobster taste bad, but they managed to achieve it, it was overcooked like rubber. Not to mention, they gave only one spoon, with which I ate soup, and instead of giving me the new clean one for the dessert the waiter took it OUT OF THE SOUP, placed it ONTO THE TABLE (not even the napkin), and then we were supposed to eat DESSERT with it. I'm sorry, but this is not even a standard in a cheap canteen, let alone an a-la-carte restaurant. - Only on day 7 of my stay I saw a metal teaspoon for the first time on my table, felt like I won a lottery. Because the rest of the time a wooden mixing stick in a takeaway cup was all I could hope for. - There were positives too, for example, fruit was very delicious, as well as grilled meat and salads. The choice of food was generally good. Cold drinks at the cafeteria were great. Out of a-la-carte restaurants, I was very pleased with the Tauro restaurant, best meal I've had in this hotel. Also, the Rumba Dominicana and Rosso (the Italian) were very good as well. FACILITIES: - The territory is absolutely beautiful, the grass, palms and overall look is a pleasure to be at. However, here the list of good things ends. - The number of sunbeds at the beach and pool area is not enough. Lots of people were lying on the ground on their hotel towels because there were no free beds - this is unacceptable for a 5-star hotel. The staff didn't care at all and provided no solutions to this problem whatsoever. - There was very loud music at the pool area almost the whole day. My room faced the pool bar, and I had a headache 24/7 because of the cheap loud speakers that were banging the bass all day every day. If you want for the music to reach every corner of the hotel, place several small quieter speakers throughout the territory, it's not that hard. - No shower for legs at the normal beach, only one at the "Level" (private) part, which is kinda not fair to non-Level guests. - The New Year's eve party was a scam, they charged for the table promising a "show", in the end it was only 1.5 hours of overly loud live music and then the countdown. Not worth $250! I could go on, but there's not enough symbols for everything. This hotel is not 5* and not worth the money I paid for it! Did not expect this from the Melia chain.

This place is a very amazing spot if you are looking to come to Punta Cana, this is amazing spot to experience great people/ friendships and love. All of the staff are so incredibly welcoming and nice people, but one of the staff really made me feel super welcome. His name is Ronny Mercado. He has brought so much laughter, energy and love to his customers. He has made our experience here absolutely lovely and he has such a kind heart and does what he can for his family and fellow peers. I 100 percent recommend this resort, and if you end up meeting this man, never be afraid to say hi. He will greet you with open arms.
