Stayed here for a night after a friend’s wedding reception.
Positives
The rooms are spacious, beautiful and clean.
Wide range of breakfast buffet.
Most staff are friendly and welcoming
The resort has lots of activities and places to visit including tortoise and horse farm.

Our check in was stated as noon just to arrive and be informed that our room was to be ready at 3pm. This was a miscommunication. We had to shower and get ready for the wedding reception at the departure lounge and store our luggage for a later check in.
During checkout the staff seemed overwhelmed with the number of guests and were rushing through the service.
We discovered most activities almost to the end of our stay. We would recommend for the resort to inform the guests of the available activities and ammenities on offer during the stay. A comprehensive briefing can be done during check in.

The hotel is large and dated. Service was a bit patchy - especially from reception. They do not provide an iron in the room, despite asking for it and direct you to one of a two “ironing rooms”. They also don’t provide anything for mosquitoes in the room. The housekeeping staff were lovely and did a good job, however the rooms were dated - and the shower and toilet had drainage smells, and a fair bit of mould. More could be done to upkeep the hotel. All in all, doesn’t quite live up to its 5 star status.
They do have an excellent spa though - with some very lovely therapists (Hema and Melia were fantastic).

During my hotel stay, the staff welcomed us warmly, which started things off on a positive note. The room was spotless and had a fantastic view and I liked the attention to detail in the decor.
The hotel layout was superb. The Historical Ruins of Balaclava was a fascinating site and the tortoise & animal farm was a charming addition for animal lovers. I loved the the waterfalls and banyan trees. The diverse food selection at the main restaurant was a culinary delight.
However, I was disappointed that even though I was an all-inclusive guest, I couldn't access all the restaurants.
My experience with the staff was a mix of highs and lows. Some were friendly and attentive, but others seemed inconsistent, especially in how they treated different guests. Despite this, I still enjoyed my stay and made some great memories.

We stayed here in 2012 for are honeymoon. Was the best and most memorable place we have been. We will definitely return here with are two children and show them where we stayed and share great moments with them.

One of the best hotels I’ve been to! The Maritim Resort & Spa Balaclava contributed a lot to making my time in Mauritius perfect and unforgettable. My room was luxurious and offered a beautiful sea view. The 25 hectares wide, very well-groomed area offers so much to explore, e. g. an animal farm with giant turtles and horses, many impressive Banyan trees and beautiful plants, the ruines of Balaclava and a path through the forest with two waterfalls. To the hotel belongs a long beautiful beach. All the staff are very friendly, always helpful and made me feel welcome with every request I had. Every breakfast and dinner was delicious, I especially loved the seafood dinner. Even though it is a huge resort and not an adults only, it is calm in the evening and you always find a tranquil spot.
Whenever I return to Mauritius, I will definitely choose this hotel again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful time!
