Beautiful hotel and the staff were amazing. Will be back here for sure and the setting for breakfast and dinner on the river is great. One frustration for me though is the lack of consistency on dress code for the restaurant by the river. I was told I wasn’t allowed to wear shorts (which is fine) but then see two women walk in wearing Thai boxing shorts and am told that this is fine by staff. Either keep the policy and enforce properly across sexes or don’t have one at all.

My first time visiting Asia and what a welcome awaited when checking into the Mandarin Oriental. A perfect location with views of the river and ferries transporting people and goods all over Bangkok. The staff were absolutely exceptional and really take care of their guests with a friendly and professional manner. The food served at breakfast and the pool area was excellent with plenty of choice. I’d highly recommend a drink at The Bamboo Bar and sample the live music on offer. Overall, the opportunity of staying at the Mandarin Oriental was a joyful and memorable experience.

Hard to add much beyond what has already been said about this institution, so better to provide a personal experience! I was lucky enough to come as a child as my dad worked in the travel industry and sent many clients to this lovely hotel. The memories of staying here when young are seared into the mind. The orange juice at the buffet breakfast on the verandah, the butler button… all providing such moments of glee and wonder as a child growing up. When we had a chance to come back and stay as adults last year we thought it was worth splashing out. For nostalgic reasons but also because the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok is such an amazing place to experience this level of luxury for a ‘relatively’ good price. It is in no way cheap, but if you can stretch to it worth it as there can’t be that many other places in the world to experience such a treat for this price. I should mention that we had a slight issue with food allergies on our stay last year which did slightly ruin the experience. One of the other reasons to stay was to switch off slightly from thinking about food allergies after navigating Thai food for the week prior. Thinking that the hotel would be very well setup and safe for someone with allergies. It wasn’t what we’d hoped but the staff and senior management were excellent when we explained our experience and disappointment. They dealt with it so well in fact we decided to return this year and give the team another chance. The stay was everything we’d hoped for and more. They’d worked hard to improve a few key processes regarding their approach to food allergies and communicated everything really well. We can’t ask for much more as our experience in many other places in Thailand suggests it’s just a hard place to be with a peanut allergy (something we are always aware of). It was an absolute pleasure to be back. It really is such a special place. The service alone is something everyone should be able to experience at least once in their lifetime. Then add on top of that the stunning rooms, amazing resort like feel of the pool, the riverside location, THAT breakfast and so many tiny little touches that all come together to make for an unforgettable experience. Many thanks to Khun Wasin, Rodolphe and others for making this recent stay so special and for taking care of us. Can’t wait to return some day!

Finally, what a 5* hotel should be! We pay so much money for 5* hotels and most are just basic.. this hotel is beautiful, every room is unique and cozy, it has every luxury to enjoy a pampered stay, like extremely attentive staff attending to every step of the way, welcoming macadamias and gourmet chocolates, lovely soft sheets and a extremely comfortable bed, great water pressure in the shower, a very comfortable bathtub with delicious relaxing salts, aircon and heating that works simply and accurately, cozy restaurants with good food… I could go on and on. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Exceptional. Gearing up to take the crown spot. Really amazing hotel with staff which makes the absolute difference. The server asked our names and continued addressing us with such a personal touch. This is a great experience
