A bit mixed. Staff friendly and massively polite but that didn't mean things got done. e.g. blinds in our room wouldn't close properly, but it took 3 attempts for them to (partly) fix an obvious issue, and only after I went to the room to demonstrate. Worse, my wife requested a nice room (within the grade) as this was for my birthday. The actual room was not great. A view of some rusty old roofs and a urinal! The beach, across the road, was pleasant enough. Despite the intimidating signs telling *guests* they couldn't take in their own food and drink-not even water, which they sell for a massively inflated price. We saw them tell someone off for doing just that. Breakfast was great. Food in the beach restaurant wasn't. Not terribly expensive for a 5* though remember they stop people bring in their own lunches. For the first few days there was a digger and hammering just by there.

Before I booked, I checked the reviews and saw people mention that the beach isn’t 100% clean — and that’s true. I stayed for five or six nights and rarely saw anyone swimming in the sea because of this. If you’re expecting a cleaner beach, I’d recommend going somewhere else. The hotel itself is lovely. The room was nice, the bed was super comfortable, and the breakfast was very, very good — lots of choice and great quality. I also tried the club lounge — the service was really impressive. I want to especially mention K. Sao, who was very friendly and provided excellent service. That said, the food in the lounge wasn’t really worth it, in my opinion. If you’re staying on the ground floor (like I did), just be aware that as this is a family-friendly hotel, you might have families staying above you. If you’re unlucky, you’ll hear noise from kids running around or people moving furniture. Some nights the noise went on until about 1am, so I ended up wearing headphones to bed. If you’re travelling with children, I highly recommend this hotel — they have a great pool and a play room for kids, and it’s very family-friendly. But if you’re a solo traveller or a couple looking for peace and quiet, I wouldn’t recommend it, as it can be quite noisy and lively with families around.

Hotel staff are one the best features of this hotel - always smiling and wanting to please you ! Location is at the end of the beach which is very shallow and further along has better swimming areas. Things to watch out for - service charge 7% and vat is not shown on the menu which can be confusing and things like beer etc is way more expensive than the closest restaurant bar New hut. We ended up eating at New every day as food is great and drinks are way cheaper and it’s only 200 m from the outrigger beach location - short walk makes things much better! Rooms are colonial style and really well done - amazing beds and breakfasts which were included in our room rate were off the scale good! It’s not an adult hotel only so during the school holidays the pool area can be challenging !

We were excited to stay here as it looked gorgeous in the photos and is considered a 5-star hotel in a nice, relaxed location on the island. Starting with the cons of my experience: The main pool is technically separated from the hotel (across the busy main street/highway) and although I appreciated having crossing guards help to manage the traffic, I don’t think this is particularly accommodating to guests. The hotel employees seemed to have good intentions and were largely kind but we had a couple of poor interactions where staff tried to charge us for items we did not order at the restaurant and the employee that delivered extra pillows to our room gave me a scowl and rolled their eyes when I thanked them for the delivery (I was honestly pretty shocked). Additionally, we were given 2 complimentary bottles of water in the room when we checked in and these would be replenished with room service. I wanted another bottle of water and asked the front desk and they told me they don’t do that and I’d need to go buy water at the restaurant. For a 5-star hotel, I found this surprising and frankly disappointing. Lastly, the hotel is extremely family friendly, which of course is great for families but definitely causes a hindrance to a hopefully relaxing stay at a 5-star resort with a luxury pool, as children were yelling and running around the pool at all hours. I would suggest the hotel to designate an adult-only space at the pool to help provide a bit of separation for guests without children. Pros! The breakfast was expansive, had changing items, and was tasty- especially the omelets. The space is very pretty and the rooms are nice- I argue that for a 5-star hotel they could be a lot better, but still, the room I was in was nice. Location on Lamai beach is good as you’re a short walk down to the more commercial part of the beach and a relatively short drive to the active northern part of the island.

Overall a good hotel. The staff are very nice, and the rooms are clean. I especially appreciate the traffic security—they block the road so you can cross the main road safely whenever needed. Childcare is possible. The beach isn’t great for swimming, and the pool water made my eyes burn. Prices at the pool are much too high. The fitness lacks some default training devices but you can just go to the outdoor fitness on the island next to the hotel. There are some good small restaurants nearby, and it’s about a 15-minute walk to the town center market.
