We had a short stay here for the weekend but were surprised of the amazing service from beginning to the end. The kids even had surprise bags on their beds. we arrived late and they offered us to order food from the room service as we were hungry and the restaurant had just closed. the staff were friendly all over. And over all the food in the main restaurant and the a la carte restaurants was of high quality with a wide range of variety. We will be back!

A wonderful nice hotel.
We had a nice stay here. The staff is very friendly and the food was really good.
The only one thing that isn't very perfect: they have a long but thin beach.
In front of the hotel is a bus stop, the city is easy to reach.

Most beautiful hotel near the sea with most friendly staff and exquisite food. In close proximity to beautiful Greek nature ( mili gorge, KOURTALIOTIKO GORGE, kournas lake, rethymnon,...).

The good points first.
* The staff are brilliant. Everyone was incredibly friendly, accommodating and professional.
* The facilities are great. The pools are beautiful, everything is sparkling clean and very well maintained.
* Food in Tavernaki, the Fine Dining and the Italian restaurants was good. Not sure it was 5* good, but still good enough.
* The rooms are spotless, beds comfortable and the cleaners come twice a day.
The less good points.
* There was a pervasive smell of sewage in the garden of our room (Lux seaside villa with pool). This was mentioned several times, but it seems that nothing could be done. Occasionally this permeated into the room itself, which was a bit grim.
* The whole place is beautifully covered in frictionless white tiles. This includes the areas around private pools, steps down from gardens, and the lower level where most of the restaurants are. It's a death trap. My youngest son slipped and fell down the stairs, and (for a change) he wasn't running or mucking about. The hotel know this, there are slippery floor signs out all of the time. But it's a fairly terrible design.
* We went in the last week of the season, and as a result, there was no seafood restaurant, the Greek restaurant closed halfway through the week and the Asian a day after that. Bit frustrating, as we weren't told. The end of season also meant that the wine selection was a bit thin.
* The main buffet is okay. Not bad, but not brilliant. Food choices are repeated quite a lot (might have been the end of season thing again), and with most of the other options closing, we had to get a bit creative with choices. That said, the kids didn't notice and they loved it!
* The final not so good point was the bathroom sink. It was a kind of flat piece of porcelain with a gutter around it, fed by a horizontal spout sticking out of the mirror facing you. The tap handle was attached to the underside of the mirror. If that sounds weird, it's because it is weird. The sink cannot hold any water. If you want to wash your face, you're going to have to cup the water and throw it at your face. But don't worry, because before that the spout will have splashed the lower half of your body making it look like you're wet yourself. When you frantically try to turn the tap off, you'll find out that the handle is a normal one, but upside down. So the first thing you'll do is increase the flow, further spraying yourself with water. It's a bizarre idea that doesn't work in any way.
Despite the issues above, we had a great holiday. It was relaxing and made all the better by the hotel staff. But it didn't quite manage to meet the 5* luxury experience that the website suggested it would be.

We just returned from our honeymoon at the White Palace and it was perfect, we have no complaints at all. The staff was incredible and the food does not disappoint. The buffet alone is delicious but you can't go wrong at any of the restaurants either. If you can schedule a private dinner, I highly recommend it, they go above and beyond to make it a special evening. We are hoping to return in the future because we had such a positive experience!
