Once in a life experience - Lukimbi offers the best staff, service, food, accommodations, and safari sightings in Kruger. The rangers and trackers (Julian and Stranger) and outstanding and work extremely hard to find the best sightings of not only the big 5 but an array of other animal. Lukimbi makes you feel like family and that is why I keep returning. From the moment you arrive, you feel like family and are treated to an unforgettable experience. If you are going to Kruger, this is where you want to stay!

Lukimbi is truly a 5 star lodge. Luxurious ginormous rooms complete with outdoor showers in each suite. French cuisine served in spectacular fashion. The staff were exceptional, very friendly and helpful, they included us into their lodge family. Thanke welcomed us and became a good friend, Gloria was such a happy server. Shelley the manager was very personable and helpful. Our game drives came alive under Ranger, Darren, and Tracker, Michael. From lions at their Buffalo kill to rhinos, elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffalo, hippos, wildebeest, to herds of impala in all their grace.
Way to go Lukimbi!

Lukimbi is an incredibly beautiful lodge, set right in Kruger National Park above a little river. The rooms are all huge and stunning, giving you a lot of privacy and beautiful views (from the terrace, the bathtub, the outdoor shower or even the loo which has a nice big window overlooking the bush). There's also a lovely pool from which we could see some buffalo in the river below and relax in between the safari activities.
As we stayed for only two nights we got to do four game drives and two bush walks which were all great. We saw many cool animals and learned about them from our guide. It's a very special experience to get to the wild animals as closely and at Lukimbi's private concession you barely ever see other people (only the other Lukimbi vehicles at times).
We want to thank all the staff at Lukimbi for the hospitality, it was a truly memorable experience for us!

It was our first Safari experience and staying at Lukimbi was great! They are organized so that a good part of your day is out seeing the wildlife with two guides per 12 person jeep, and that is what you are paying for. Day starts at 5:00 for a morning safari drive, back for an 8:30 breakfast, out again for a 10 AM walk, back at 12, lunch at 2, out again at 4PM for afternoon safari drive, and back at 8 for dinner. They have an exclusive concession for part of the park, and are permanently keeping track of where individual species are spotted, so we got to see elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, hippopotami, buffalo, impala, hienas, etc. etc. The staff are friendly, attentive, and above all, knowledgeable! The cabins are large and comfortable, had a wonderful time.

We stayed at Lukimbi for our honeymoon. While it was a pleasant experience, we weren't impressed with the quality of service for the money we paid. Compared to other lodges we had stayed at during our honeymoon Lukimbi had friendly service with a smile and the room was clean but that was it. Our guide and tracker were very professional and knowledgeable. The pathway to the room is a wooden walkway that not only has multiple spiderwebs but also usually contained a spider, we felt this was an indication the walkway was not cleaned as compared to other lodges. The decor in rooms represented an African style but still felt like it had been kept the same for many years and had never been modernised. The mealtimes were very rigid, you either be there on time or you miss the meal entirely with no exceptions to be made. The buffet at breakfast and lunch was almost not enough for the number of guests as should you arrive 15min into the meal, some serving dishes would be empty with no additional serving. Drinks served during the game drives are not included in the overnight stay as with other lodges. Another disappointing aspect was that when we arrived on our first day (after informing the staff that we would be there very soon), we were informed that we had just missed the evening drive as well as lunch but that we could wait in our room for dinner to be served - this after we had just passed 3 game viewing vehicles that were less than 5km from the lodge, surely this was close enough to pick us up or at least offer a complementary drink at the bar. It is not that we are not comfortable following time regulations of the lodge but regarding meal times, we don't want to feel as if we are following a school timetable, as we are on holiday and considering the price we paid.
