The place was refurbished and it is very nice to stay. I have stayed here twice in less than 6 months. The breakfast was good, could have a bit more bread variety. The rooms were spacious and came with a bath on the balcony. There's a hawker center within a 5 minute walk. This time my room balcony's sliding door was not a bit jam. The place needs some maintenance. The pool was great. The water wasn't cold because it was under direct sun. Overall it is a great place to stay, only thing is that it is quite a bit of distance from George Town.

My first time staying at the Lone pines resort. My partner and I had a wonder stay for 4 days 3 nights. We both felt relaxed staying here. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the coffee here even though it was from the machine. And the breakfast buffet, while limited options, they were good and most importantly hot and fresh food. I would recommend couples to stay here. Surely will be back again!

To start with, it's a really nice property right on the beach with a beautiful garden full of old pines. Very relaxing; they should utilize this space more, given it's all seaview but none of the bar, pool or restaurant is using it to it's advantage.. The garden has 2 spacious pools, one for kids and it's a nice place to spend a few days. What's a true let down is the service inconsistency that you can find everywhere in Malaysia...staff is just not up to standards that you get in neighboring countries. Service is generally slow, our room was missing slippers, bathrobes and glasses for 2 days; staff giving you contradicting info when asked when check out is. Food leftovers at the pool were not cleaned up for the whole afternoon although the pool boy is just playing on the phone. Empty water bottles were lying around and nobody cleaned the leaves from the pool. Food at the restaurant and breakfast is very average and the minimum what you can expect from such a Marriott property, nothing more. The menu is limited as well, which is disappointing for a resort style hotel. Even more disappointing is the beach the hotel is on. There's a sewage river around the hotel leading into the sea right next to it and the sea water is actually murky and smelling bed. It's gross. The hotel warns of swimming in the sea due to jellyfish but it'd more than that. It's actual black sewage water leading into the sea... Unbelievable that this still happens in 2024. What this hotel needs is to train their staff better, housekeeping needs to maintain the same level in every room, the garden and pool area needs to be cleaned throughout the day. The bar needs a proper barkeeper that stays at the bar and delivers good drinks. Take advantage of the beautiful property that you have! And get the local authorities to clean up that river..

Period of stay: Dec 2023 Property: Beautiful, quiet, a small piece of paradise on earth! Room: Overall comfortable room with a lovely seaview balcony. Bathroom was a little lacking - poor quality toiletries, faulty hand-held shower head, faulty cold water tap, room service menu was not available. Service: Good service, friendly and helpful staff. Be careful of cat poop at the bar though! Food: Fairly good buffet spread for breakfast. However, egg station chef tried to push a cold plate of scrambled eggs on us; had to ask him to make us a fresh one. Room service food was bad - fried rice with prawns tasted like it was made earlier and heated up in a microwave! Prawns was definitely not fresh. Overall, we had a lovely, relaxing 3D/2N. We would go back again and would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a quiet, do-nothing short holiday. We feel certain that Marriott would look into improving services there!

Beautiful grounds and large spacious rooms. Service was excellent as our air conditioner was not working. We were upgraded to a suite room where the air con was definitely working. We had a sea view balcony room which has everything you need. Large area to sit outside and a bath outside also. Ceiling fans so you can enjoy reading a book. The stocked mini bar was a nice surprise. My only comment was a lack of western food for breakfast. Pre cooking eggs isn’t a great idea and poached eggs would be nice to have. Besides eggs and baked beans, there’s not a lot of hot choice for westerners. The cereal and fresh milk and food was good. Just up the road is Long Beach cafe which sells all different types of food. Great for cheap meals.
