Wow, such a wonderful resort to stay at. The staff is very helpful and cheerful. The rooms are clean and spacious. The views from the rooms are incredible. We booked the club access level room with the upgraded pass to Universal Studios and it was well worth the price. The water taxi takes you direct to the City Walk so getting between the hotel and the parks is a breeze. There are eateries and coffee shop nearby so that's always a plus. In the evenings, sitting outside near the water was very serene and relaxing. I recommend you give this place a try. It's not the cheapest, but it's well worth the price.

The front desk staff were all very welcoming and professional from check-in and on. Attentive housekeeping staff. Outstanding club lounge staff, capacity, quality and variety of food/beverages, pleasant atmosphere that made the amenity feel special. The bell staff and valet were so energetic and committed to excellent customer service...had a lot of pep in their step and hustled to make sure we were cared for. No one ever left us standing without checking to make sure we didn't need something. Great team!! The text messaging with guest services was an outstanding feature; very quick responses.

The hotel was under major renovations not disclosed in booking it only mentioned minor renovations. The entire courtyard was unusable. The staff did a great job trying to accommodate our week long stay however the construction kept us from napping in the afternoons. The ice machine in the west wing near our room in 3332 had leaked. I can send a video of the noise from our room from the construction. Access to the pool was difficult, not all the restaurants were open and access to the walking path was blocked most of our stay. They also over charged us at the pool by not disclosing that gratuity was already included. The highlight was he pizza at Sal's the staff and security at the boat and captains were above par. Also the communication with the hotel cleaning staff was amazing. Overall I did not think this trip lived up to our expectations. I would be willing to try this place again only after the renovations are complete. You should indicate on the universal site at the state the true nature of your current renovations to set proper expectations.

I apologize for the lengthy review but wanted to share the details of our recent stay. I read so many reviews upon booking, especially all all the negative ones regarding the construction. My husband and I were hesistant based on some negative comments but decided to come here instead of the Hard Rock as we were debating between the two based on proximity to the parks and the unlimited express passes. I have to admit , upon entering the resort, it was a but upsetting and alarming to see scaffolding around the entire exterior. Once we pulled around to the front to valet the car, the hotel was beautiful. We have stayed at a ton of hotels and I have to say the service here was top notch from arrival to departure. I have to give a shout out to Kristen and Tina at the bar , who remembered my name and drink throughout my entire stay after only telling them once. Our room was beautiful and had windows (I saw some reviews saying there were no windows). room was very spacious and clean for our family of 4. The staff all around were extremely helpful and sincerely nice and genuine. we wanted a 5 star hotel and we definitely got that. The pool was so nice and quiet and not affected by the construction at all. Yes, you will hear drilling depending where you walk and you will see scaffolding in areas. This did not affect us. The walk to the parks is a gorgeous 15 min or a 5 min boat ride and the unlimited express passes are so worth it as we waited no more than 15 min for a ride during spring break. I cant wait to come back and see the resort after renovations.

Our stay at Portofino Bay was a perfect spot to stay for a visit to Universal. The hotel provides "unlimited express passes", an impressive financial perk, a ticketing counter for your daily passes, and a quick water shuttle to the Universal entry. It is also an easy 15 minute walk along the water to the entry. Check-in was efficient and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. Our 2 bedroom/3 bath suite was very comfortable for 4 adults and 2 kids. The daily room service was excellent and if you didn't need it, you would still receive a text to see if you needed anything. The primary pool area was kid-friendly with a fun water slide, and an adjacent bar/food area for lunch. We would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.
