Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando

Stayed for four nights mid-December 2025. Very good looking hotel with an Italian vibe and laid back atmosphere. Rooms are LARGE, and the way we pack and the amount of luggage, this came in very handy. The bathroom has a vanity with double sinks which my wife and daughter appreciated. We booked with our Universal Studios Annual Pass rate and was very pleased with price and value of hotel. We were in building 2, the Villa guest rooms with a pool view. Just off the elevator, we could go right to the main pool or left to second pool, which was very convenient. The weather was sunny to partly cloudy and warm and we were able to hit the pool and hot tub, very nice during mid-day or after a long day in the parks. We ate on-site at Mama's and Sal's and both were very good. The crowds at Universal was less than summer, but with the unlimited express pass for our stay, made the vacation so much more enjoyable.

The location is perfect for Universal Studios. With the Unlimited Express Pass included in the room booking, the price felt absolutely worth it. Considering the convenience and value it added to our park experience, the overall cost was well justified — a great stay and a smart choice for visiting the parks. Note that luggage service can be slower than usual during holidays, and all requests must go through the hotel. If you’re traveling with a baby, it’s helpful to keep essential baby items with you rather than relying on hotel luggage delivery, so you’re not left waiting for supplies when you need them most.

I recently stayed at this resort and it was everything I hoped for in a quiet, romantic getaway. The atmosphere is peaceful from the moment you arrive, beautiful scenery, soft lighting, and a calm, intimate vibe throughout the property. The staff were warm and attentive without ever being intrusive, which made the experience feel even more relaxing. Our room was spotless, cozy, and perfectly set up for a couples’ retreat. Whether we were enjoying the views, walking the grounds, or unwinding in the evening, it felt like the perfect escape. Highly recommend for anyone looking to reconnect and enjoy a serene, romantic vacation.

I was really unimpressed with this hotel. The photos online make it look very nice, but in person the property is in noticeably rough condition. The air conditioning barely worked, and the room itself felt a little worn. Many of the fixtures felt cheap, and most of the “architectural” details are simply painted on, which was disappointing given the price point. We tried to get the AC working the first night and eventually gave up and slept uncomfortably, assuming this was just part of being in Florida. The second day, we turned it on hours before returning—still no improvement. On the third day, we ran it from early morning, and the room was still not comfortable when we got back. For a hotel charging over $700 a night, functioning air conditioning and well-maintained amenities should be a given. When I called the front desk to address the issue and ask about a partial refund, I was told they could try to fix the AC or move to a room on the opposite side of the hotel at 11 at night, but that it was essentially on us for not calling sooner—which was frustrating and dismissive. The main appeal of this hotel is its proximity to the parks and the express passes included for some of the parks, but even those perks don’t justify the premium when the basic amenities fall short. Overall, this seriously tarnished the experience. It felt overpriced, money-grabbing, and honestly a bit gross. I’ve been excited about staying here for years and upon actually experiencing it, feel let down. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Update: on the last day we found a new friend in our room

I wish I could put into words how wonderful our vacation was for the last six days at the Portofino Bay Hotel! Every person involved in our stay was first of all excellent in their service, but also their attitudes were pleasant and you could tell that they enjoyed working at this hotel at this hotel. I’ve stayed at many five star hotels in my lifetime, but this has probably been the most comfortable and pleasant experience I’ve ever had. The food was phenomenal - especially the buffet at Thanksgiving. The entire hotel was clean and pristine. Beautiful decor!!!
