Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando

I cannot exaggerate when I say that this is the least enjoyable stay I have ever had at a hotel. The service isn't the worst. Lots of very respectful, very kind, very generous people. However, that's the minority and not the majority. There was an instance where I left my hotel key in my room (my fault, I know), and I called the front desk to see if I could get some assistance with getting into my room. Matter of fact, someone ELSE called it in for me, and I STILL waited outside of my room for close to 30 minutes because I was reassured that they would reach me in "5 to 10 minutes". And even when they got there, they asked for my ID (which makes complete sense), called the front desk to verify that I was the one in the room, and THAT took another 10 minutes for some reason, so I was stranded outside of my room for close to 45 minutes. Also, if you're not paying for the wifi, don't even bother using it. The amount of times that I have been mid work project, just for the Wifi to drop and get a "You have been quarantined!" message because their auto-connect doesn't like PINTEREST is quite baffling. Thankfully, I was here with a work conference, so I didn't pay anything out of my own pockets (which is a plus), but I wouldn't waste a dime here. Overpriced, extremely inconvenient, not even remotely worth the money they're asking.

We had a wonderful stay at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. The property is beautiful and feels just like an Italian seaside village with a peaceful atmosphere. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The pools are fantastic, especially the one with the sandy beach and slide, and there are plenty of dining options with delicious food. The staff is friendly and always ready to help. The best part is the easy access to Universal with the water taxi and the Express Pass that’s included. Overall, a relaxing and convenient place to stay — we would definitely come back!

Excellent location , convenient water taxi to parks and city walk , express unlimited passes make it worth it . Beds very comfortable. The market was expensive , 6-8$ for water is abit too much !! 17$ for deli sandwich! The coffee shop in morning was good and reasonably priced . Charles who check us in was a professional sales person !! Was not helpful at all and took a lot of time checking us in ! Nice pools with life guards is a big plus . 3 hit tubs also to enjoy .

My husband and I have stayed at all the premiere hotels at Universal and this place has been our favorite so far. When we were checking in, I mentioned that we were at the Hard Rock hotel last year and before that the Royal Pacific. We love staying on site due to the Express passes and benefits included with the hotels. Our room was upgraded with a view and next to the dock which was appreciated and a surprise for us. The staff was wonderful and accommodating, especially since we weren't familiar with the layout of the hotel. They showed us to our room. Our room was spacious, clean and bright. The staff messaged throughout our stay to check up on us and whenever we had a question, they responded in a timely manner. We love the restaurant in the area and the cafe was a life saver in the mornings before the park. The outdoor live music was an added bonus. Overall we love this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

The room was excellent and the staff were all so pleasant. If it's the cheapest of the 3 hotels that include express pass, I'd come here again. Compared to the other two top-tier hotels on property (Hard Rock and Royal), this one feels it is missing some ambience as the detailing outside falls flat though the interior is excellent and our hotel always seemed to have a boat line where others did not. It was almost faster/ comparable to walk at 1pm than to wait on a boat, which just felt odd. I agree with sentiments of others that this place feels like a maze of stairs. The layout is just a bit odd and it is difficult to find some amenities, but not too challenging. I did enjoy my stay here and the amenities provided. I found my bay view room gorgeous and comfortable! Would I stay here again though? Only if the other 2 premiere hotels are more expensive.
