Resting on the pearly white sands of Khao Lak’s coastline, the Le Meridien Khao Lak Resort & Spa (formerly the Bangsak Merlin Resort) is a peaceful place to spend a luxury holiday in Thailand. We have visited many hotels, but this one is by far the best we’ve ever stayed at! From the moment we arrived, we were treated with exceptional care – the entire staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, something we had never experienced before. We booked the all-inclusive package, and it was absolutely worth it. The food in every restaurant was outstanding, and we enjoyed every meal. What impressed us the most was that all the issues mentioned in previous reviews have been completely resolved. The rooms are spacious, and the beds are extremely comfortable – we had the best sleep! Although we are on the younger side and noticed that the hotel tends to attract an older clientele, we actually appreciated the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. It made our stay even more enjoyable. One small suggestion for improvement would be offering a free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel at set times, allowing multiple guests to travel together. This would make arrivals even more convenient. A very special thank you to Chef James, who went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible. His dedication and kindness truly made our visit unforgettable. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

Room: both times we’ve been here the room has just been as expected although the first time we were here the room was beyond expectations! It was on the top floor overlooking the main pool area and looking directly at the beach, it was the most amazing, comfortable and luxurious stay we’ve had in a while! The second time, last week, we were in a different style room, it was a pool access room and it was definitely living up to the name, the pool literally was outside the door! Service: ah this is probably where the Meridien shines, the people who work here are just giving their absolute heart and soul to it, they are lovely and amazing, working hard but always with a smile, would were astounded by the people and just fell in love with the Thai service culture! **The only we will mention is that the service was definitely not as good as our first stay, it was clear that the staff weren’t as happy and didn’t try as much, nonetheless, it was still above average The hotel itself does a great job of this by embracing local culture, celebrating it and ensuring that the Thai culture isn’t lost, we loved every second of our stay and this is going to be on our agenda next year as well and not to mention the many number of excellent pools Location: about 1.5hours from the airport, 2 hours from Phuket itself, it’s a bit of a distance, but the location is amazing with beautiful beaches, coral and shells included so not the nicest to walk on but the view and serenity is just breathtaking! The hotel organises shuttle services to the town so this is a must do as well as the town has loads of great shops. The hotel also organises daily activities, every single day is packed and the kids taken care of so it’s definitely living up to the 5 Star reputation The only thing we could nitpick on was that the resort/hotel definitely shows its age now, needs a good renovation and upgrade

The hotel is well-maintained with a large and beautiful area. There are many pools, and it’s right by the sea. The beach is a bit rocky but very beautiful. The rooms are neat and tidy. There was an Indian wedding at the hotel, which added a special charm to our stay. A big thanks to the staff, who were very attentive, polite, and always ready to help. The breakfast was amazing, with a great variety of options. And the dinner in the restaurant by the sea was outstanding The only downside was that our room had a connecting door, and the noise from the next room made it difficult to sleep.

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay here in the best way possible. For the lower price we paid compared to other Marriott Bonvoy properties, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it has been one of the best bang for buck stays for us out of all the Bonvoy properties we've stayed at. Big shout out to Chef James for making the culinary experience second to none, making it one of our favorite parts of the stay. The lamb rogan josh and fresh oyster dishes were some of our favorites from our stay. Chef James also went out of his way to make us some special dishes off menu. Petition to add Mango Crudo and the Maine style rock lobster sandwich onto the main menu! Additionally, we would like to also thank Khun Kath from the front desk, Khun Yaya from the Beach grill and Khun Ake, the DJ at Coconut Jo's for making the stay even better. We went during the Thai Songkran holiday and there was a lot of activities and shows for guests to enjoy with the theme of the Thai new year culture, adding to the fun stay for all age groups. The spa experience at the hotel was also great, with great masseuses and the also worth the price. Right next to the hotel are also massage spots and restaurants. However, a short 2km walk/jog/bike ride away from the hotel is the Bangsak beach which also has food + coffee trucks and some cafes on a very nice side of the beach to relax as well. We'll definitely be back!

The resort has potential — good rooms, nice pools, and a generally pleasant setting. But the service really brings the experience down. Staff are inattentive across the board, especially at breakfast, which feels more like a crowded mess hall than a relaxing start to the day. They also start removing items well before closing time and empty items are never refilled. Although the breakfast itself is good. The pizzeria staff were also noticeably unwelcoming. Parking is almost always full, and there’s no valet service, which is surprising for a resort of this level. On top of that, the property shows clear signs of aging, with visible wear and tear in the common areas. With better staff training, improved guest services, and some long-overdue maintenance, this place could live up to its potential — but for now, it misses the mark. The food street just outside the resort has some really good local authentic options at very reasonable prices.
