I visited the Lake Buena Vista Resort for a group vacation this year, and I was pleasantly surprised.
PROS:
•The staff was incredibly kind, accommodating, and detail oriented. I will make this statement so many times, but the staff really was the highlight of the trip.
•The pools were clean, and the kids/family pool does, in fact, have a giant pirate ship slide that is as entertaining as you think it would be. There is also an attendant for the slide so children don't go down the slide unsupervised.
•There are bathrooms at the pool, and they are SO nice! Very clean and well-stocked, and the staff checks them often. I was so impressed by this.
•The bar by the pool was well-stocked, and the bartenders were efficient and lively. And the drinks were worth every penny.
•The spa, which is located in the main building, was really nice. The shining star, however, was once again the staff. The individual I had for my service was the sweetest person, and she put forth so much effort to create a calming and soothing environment. My only regret from the whole trip was not booking a second appointment at the spa.
•The resort is within walking distance to local shops and restaurants. Frankie Farrell's was very good, and the food court was pretty decent as well. There is also a convenience store (slightly overpriced but location is the payoff) and a 24-hour arcade.
•The property is well lit, so walking at night is not disconcerting at all.
CONS:
•The hotel rooms are dated, and if aesthetic is important to you, then the rooms may be slightly disappointing.
•The front desk staff is, by far, the only staff that was not accommodating or cordial in nature. They were efficient at check jn but not personable or accommodating if issues came up.
•The last night of our trip, there was an issue with the air conditioning to our specific building. While that is understandable (April in Orlando is no joke), absolutely no attempts were made to offer any kind of tangible token of an apology for the inconvenience; no discounts on the last night of fees, no complimentary bottles of water for our rooms, etc. It isn't the lack of compensation that made this a big deal. It's the fact that I went to the front desk and explained that I booked this vacation for my friends and family, and I wanted to do whatever I could to make them more comfortable. The staff behind the front desk told me verbatim, "we have no intention of offering anything to anyone in your building for this inconvenience."
The first three days of our vacation were actually perfect. The last day and the last interaction with the front desk was a huge letdown. But I really would stay here again.

Rooms were a little dated and worn. You can tell that they were nice though. Love the layout and proximity to the parks and international drive, as well as the airport. The appliances were kind of beat, along with obvious repairs on various things around the room. The safe was sort of working... Needed some finagling. The mattress was lumpy. There was a nice tub and large shower. I'd stay there again though. It worked.

I’m giving 2 stars because of appearance and convenience to parks. My family and I stayed 4 nights. The first day we called maintenance to check frig and we had to call again for them to come next day. There were only 2 bath towels and we were a party of 9. We called and staff were rude so we had to use big hand towels. There were only 2 cooking pans to use for breakfast. I called and requested more but only 1 flat pan was brought. The bartender, Danielle, was very rude at pool bar, ignored us and purposely made us wait while she went on to other customers. Maintenance was called again because the stove went out. We had food in oven and on top of stove cooking. It took over a hour for it to be fixed and we didn’t eat until after 11 pm. The Jacuzzi didn’t work properly. The problem is the age of building and majority of the staff seemed not to care except for Venus. She made sure the nice maintenance guy came. A lot of the staff spoke broken English and unapologetic about what we experienced from day 1. Also, no room service even though there are resort fees. No trash pickup either. You have to take it out on your own.

I was excited to stay here after seeing their website. However, they promote it as condo type living with a fully furnished kitchen. Hardly. Tried to make breakfast our first morning and only had a medium skillet and a small baking sheet. No spatula. Called the front desk. They brought one long after breakfast was done. Since there is a washer and dryer, you are expected to wash your own towels apparently. The pirate ship pool is cool and the kids loved it. The Jacuzzi tub is very difficult to get into unless you are 5'6" or taller. The walk in shower has no ledges, just one soap dish that doesn't even keep the soap on it. Short distance to Disney which is why we picked it. Other than that and the pool, I wouldn't recommend. Also they have someone in the lobby that tries to sell you a time share. No thanks.
